Copyright / Hush - The queue rumours..., by tooth on May 30, 2008 10:14:05 GMT 1, Yeah yesterday was a cock up you could have past by the gallery any time between 9:00 and 13:30 picked up a ticket and gone back home/work and then turned up to buy a print a 18:30, I took the afternoon off work turned up at 14:30 and there was no queue, when I asked I was told that they were all sold. When I turned up at 18:30 there was a massive queue and the people on the door were saying that there were prints left so I got in queued for 2 hours inside waiting for the guy in the kitchen to fill out each persons details on a laptop and process payment on his own, only to find out they had sold out when they handed out tickets and we could pay ยฃ150 for some thing that hasn't been made yet. Sooo pissed off. note having queued once or twice before and gone to many shows I'm now recognizing the flippers the the first 10 people were all flippers so there should be quite a few popping up on ebay.

Copyright / Hush - The queue rumours..., by funkrye on May 30, 2008 10:15:04 GMT 1, I would like to know if it was Hush or Opus who had 4 accounts......... Silky please tell. And then do something about it. But as they say what goes around comes around. All I know is that 4 accounts were found all with the same IP address. Those were Hush, Mainartery, Ollys and UAC. This does NOT mean they are the same person. Accusations being made about Opus are totally unfounded as far as I can see. This is the only information I have, and has only been released due to peoples concerns, and is totally inline with the agreements that all members sign up to when they join any proboards forum.
Has this 1 IP address been banned?

Copyright / Hush - The queue rumours..., by timba82 on May 30, 2008 10:15:18 GMT 1, Well well wellโฆ.that was an experience. After seeing the nick walker โcamp outโ debacle I thought I would get down there as early as I could (within reason) for about 6.30 am โ the fist time I have ever done anything quite so ludicrous lol. Subsequently I was one of the 1st 5 people there. I went to buy the red GGโฆand boi was I lucky to have been so close to the front. By the time I had got mine there were only 3 reds left. I got mine and the fella in front got 1. that means there were only 5 of the reds from the 25 + 5 apโs. It just seemed totally unfair to the people behind me who wanted one aswell. Needless to say that there were only 4 T&Tโs that were snapped up by the 1st 4 peeps through the door. Iโm sure there are a lot of disappointed people left with a bad taste in there mouths.
That aside the art on show was fantastic and what a show it was.

Copyright / Hush - The queue rumours..., by aj on May 30, 2008 10:19:41 GMT 1, Well it was a first preview show for me, and i went for copyright anyway. (the hush stuff was nice but can't see why all the fuss over the prints) anyway queued for about 45 mins and was about 10 from the door when some bloke started shouting about all the prints being sold out "every single f**king one" then called them all c**ts and, pissed off. I waited anyway had a look around copyright stuff was great and really well priced. picked up the last queen of hearts gold which is f**king amazing. and there was still quite a few pink queens left and this was at 9.30 and i was last in the queue. so won't be supprised if there are a few online in the next couple of days. Not to bothered about hush but i do hope copyright isn't tarnished with the same brush. Sorry about that! Oops
Was that you g-man? tall guy who asked the girl on door if she was fucking joking when told it was all sold out? ;D
made me laugh in the rain, i was supprised you left before going in, seeing as you were front of queue.

Copyright / Hush - The queue rumours..., by sand on May 30, 2008 10:22:50 GMT 1, Sounds like a COMPLETE AND UTTER SHAMBLES..I feel for you who queued up in the rain..
I would love to hear what the gallery has to say about all of this..considering how vocal they were in hyping up the show and 'available' artwork!!!
I don't even understand all the HYPE HYPE HYPE surrounding new artists on the board these days..
The board has gone from place where you could talk about art into a marketplace!!
And some of the galleries on this forum are the worst offenders..and it seems that Opus has let everyone down!!
LAME.
OPUS, PLEASE CAN YOU EXPLAIN WHAT THE HELL WENT ON YESTERDAY.

I also hope Copyright isn't swept up in the debacle... the actions of Hush or Opus shouldn't reflect poorly on Copyright or his work.

Copyright / Hush - The queue rumours..., by timba82 on May 30, 2008 11:10:35 GMT 1, lets be honest here....i dont think hush did anything wrong....it just so happens that people generally prefered Hush's work and Opus handled it horrendously by selling most of what was available the night before. I reckon the gallery have reflected badly on Hush here and it is not his fault....

hang on a second....pretty much every show has a pre preview (as stupid as it may sound) where originals are generally sold...it ALWAYS happens

But in both your worlds of knoledge you know the answer is what ever you deside to put on here twats,. Just check the prior threads and will happily send you a framing bill or two. Some people dont have a pad in london or close to what you should be asking is why the two people behind 11 and 12 were 46 and 47 fact and five behind them were people who turned up at 4 and 5 o clock fact. Your all obsesed that flippers are first in first out first on ebay. i dont dought some times it is true but again for all those reading the thread its not about flippers as usual. its about the complete shower of sh~t that the show was. You will never get rid of flippers put your pitch forks down and move on if you want it get there early fact

Copyright / Hush - The queue rumours..., by romanywg on May 30, 2008 11:43:08 GMT 1, I was at the Wednesday preview which started at 6pm. I was second through the door and I think there were 4 or 5 canvases available at that time and out of 10 Copyright decks there were none available! I was personally was not allowed to buy any prints so I'm as confused as the people in the queue as to why and how so much was sold pre pre preview. Hopefully Opus will come on here and explain at some point but perhaps not as we are still waiting for them to answer to jam for their strong words against him.

The jerk that says the first 10 people in the Q where flippers.....
Piss off.....
I was number 1 - and do not plan to flip - although, after all this shit...it makes you think...why not...make a quick buck.
Message to all...
How ever long you Q, how every friendly everybody is, what anybody tells you.....until the print is in your hand...you have not got it!
First in the Q - given the second to last TT II - IMO, that is far worse than a few poeple who buy to sell..and after that many hours, time off work, petrol, hotels.......etc
I CAN DO WHAT THE FUCK I LIKE WITH MY PRINT.....
Ps. Tim - Thanks for the beers yesterday - I owe you and will return the favour.

Copyright / Hush - The queue rumours..., by dogant on May 30, 2008 11:58:22 GMT 1, I am yet to carm down...so here I go again.
romanywg - you add a lot to this forum and your pictures are fantastic - as is your imput to discussions (let alone your Faile print!)
As I saw it, you where allowed in pre 6.30 as you where filming for the show....if you say you where not allowed to purchase a print I have to agree with your comments....
A couple of your friends where in the Q and had ticket numbers 14 / 15 or so - they where allowed in at 6.28 - stating that they had just been given a call from Hush direct and they where on his guest list.
Both of these guys picked up a TT each - leaving 2 left for the general public - although they requested that the had the prints posted out to them (I guess they did not want them to be damaged or did not want people in the Q to see them with prints)
Although, I understand why they would have wanted a print - and also understand why they would jump a Q - if allowed to do so by the artist - although this does not make it right.
Who is to blame.....
Firstly....Hush.
Allowing people to purchase all the work before the show opened (yes, all the canvases - bar 1 where purchased by 3pm that day - the last one was offered to number 47 in the Q - who walked up - walked in and then came out - I guess he did not want it (and that was at 5pm)
Hush should have allowed some clients to purchase canvases - but not the whole bloody stock - leaving some left to the genreal public.
Opus.
All the hype, all the posting of pictures ....all the amendments of stock available pre show - and then allowing people to come in pre show and purchase prints also.
What is to say some of the prints went to people during the day - that popped in, called up, gave a wink etc..
Utter, utter shit.
For the record....when I went in I asked them what they would do about the Q numbers - because you could see it was going to get nasty....
They said they would only let people in - in number card order..
Again, this now appears to be total and utter bollocks.....
The first 10 or 11 where safe - because we clubbed together (for entry only) - I really feel for the rest of the numbers.
Utter, utter shiit
Again - I was one of the lucky one....and I feel really angry....I so feel for the people who missed out.

Both of these guys picked up a TT each - leaving 2 left for the general public - although they requested that the had the prints posted out to them (I guess they did not want them to be damaged or did not want people in the Q to see them with prints) Although, I understand why they would have wanted a print - and also understand why they would jump a Q - if allowed to do so by the artist - although this does not make it right. Who is to blame..... Firstly....Hush. Allowing people to purchase all the work before the show opened (yes, all the canvases - bar 1 where purchased by 3pm that day - the last one was offered to number 47 in the Q - who walked up - walked in and then came out - I guess he did not want it (and that was at 5pm) Hush should have allowed some clients to purchase canvases - but not the whole bloody stock - leaving some left to the genreal public. Utter, utter shiit Again - I was one of the lucky one....and I feel really angry....I so feel for the people who missed out. I was at the preview which started at 6pm.

Copyright / Hush - The queue rumours..., by Matt-lock on May 30, 2008 12:03:47 GMT 1, So I wonder what the edition size will be for the "give us ยฃ150 now and we'll let you know what it looks like later" print? There could have been a lot of ppl who to partially offset the disappointment of not getting one of the other prints coughed up for one
The edition is 50 and the same size as the others from what I hear.
Sorry to all those who waited and missed out...

Copyright / Hush - The queue rumours..., by spirit on May 30, 2008 12:03:54 GMT 1, oi oi carlito, u fruit loop ;D ;D ;D yep in totall agreement with that statement, he got worse!!! i think people sometimes forget that even last year you could go to a preview night and there maybe 30 people tops less at nick walkers show's. Buy originals for cheap as chips have a few drinks and wander home. ITS different now there are so many new collectors that why should'nt galleries have pre/previews for the people they know/friends etc? this happens all the time hush's prints were a small edition of 25. people were going on that nick walkers stuff at brp was not sold out why? bigger editions!! in this scene now, some people are gonna be happy some are not i wish it was like it used to be IT IS NOT
The problem is that Opus were advertising for weeks on this site saying that 40 originals and 65 hush prints would be available at the preview. This turned out to be completely false. They never mentioned their pre preview where the vast majority was actually sold. They wasted a lot of peoples time who queued in the rain for nothing.
Also it is worth noting that EVERY SINGLE ONE of the butterfly prints at the NW BRP show was available to people who came and queued up - NONE were sold to a select elite the night before.
After this debacle it just goes to show how good BRP are. Excellent queue management and if you made the effort you got a print. This didn't happen last year it happened a few weeks ago. Sure the scene has changed in the last year but it can still be done properly now. On this occasion it was not and many fans quite rightly feel they had the piss taken out of them - the salt in the wound being the "sorry mate, give us a non-refundable 150 quid deposit now for a print you can't even see and you can get the next one"
Anyway - looking forward to what Opus has to say - they logged in at 11.30 so they should have read most of this by now. Hopefully some answers soon...

Copyright / Hush - The queue rumours..., by romanywg on May 30, 2008 12:18:13 GMT 1, Dogant, firstly nice to meet you, again. (This fella is hardcore and almost always first in every queue). Please don't blame Hush for any of this, it was totally down to the Gallery and Hush was as confounded as most people on here. The artists just paint the pieces and have nothing to do with the organisation of the shows. The two guys that were with me were actually let in by Hush himself who saw them at the door and told them they should go inside. They have been buyers of his art from the early days and subsequently that gives them priority as they have backed him from the start, that's how it works. If you buy early on in someones career you are looked after later on down the line. What I found baffling was that people just paid for their prints and just left, not even glancing at the art on the walls. Just goes to show what people were actually there for when just over 100 people have looked at all the photos I took on the night. For the guy to shout off outside and then go home without even stepping inside the gallery shows you the sad case of the scene and the way it's heading.

Romany - it seems like the artist is blaming the gallery and the gallery is blaming the artist - Dogants original post on page 2 of this thread quoted the gallery as saying "Blame it on the artist - they sold to friends"
