LOOK FAMILIAR?, by daz205 on Oct 26, 2008 19:18:29 GMT 1, i always find it interesting to see the original images take banksy`s IFTL on the first page, and dont see any harm in sharing them when you find them.
However the d-face seems a bit of a rip off to me where as the SQPR doesnt, maybe its due to the d-face being a direct copy of an image and style, but the SQPR changes the medium and feel of the image
J-boy dunno what you ment by " dont want to be arsey " but it wasnt promoting the image as a good thing perhaps " look what i`ve found " maybe nicer next time

LOOK FAMILIAR?, by loucastel on Oct 26, 2008 19:37:32 GMT 1, Actually I like Dface and have what I consider to be his best work (Anyolwar, also known as skeleton coming out of banana , also known as whatever you want to call it). But, at the same time I don't have the blinkered almost homoerotic worship of him that you seem to have JBoy. The question must be posed: do you have a full-on robot chubby for the artist known as Dface??? I think we have a right to know....
Whist not being dfaces biggest admirer, I have to admit that nacional's skeleton in a bannana is one of my favorite pieces, It is the one of the few pieces I regret not buying when it was for sale. this one and manchestermike's balloon d dogs (or something like that) just curious if anybody knows what these two are a dfaced images of, or were they purely an original idea.

The banana was from this:
The Balloon Dogs are a D*Face original as far as I'm aware

LOOK FAMILIAR?, by Ruso on Oct 26, 2008 20:08:54 GMT 1, i personally love seeing where images come from (although i dont think jboy meant this to be for that reason), the banksy one is especially interesting... part of the joy of stenciling (for me anyway) is seeing the makeup of lines to create the whole image... i rmeber a while ago seeing an image that grafter had used to make a stnecil, and comparing the way stencil itself was really insightful...

LOOK FAMILIAR?, by Deleted on Oct 26, 2008 20:20:16 GMT 1, when i first saw the original version 1/1 of dive bomb up for auction at dreweatts, what struck me was the name 'dive bomb'. Dive and Bomb are 2 words often used in auctions and I personally believe that these words are likely to have been what inspired SPQR to create this piece as one of the 2 he submitted for his first appearance at auction.

LOOK FAMILIAR?, by charlie on Oct 27, 2008 13:17:46 GMT 1, I'm the guy who bought the original Dive Bomb at Dreweatts - and I am really excited to see the original inspiration. I love it.
And you're right - the whole idea of prices 'diving' and work 'bombing' at an auction was the inspiration for the work when MAtt was invited by Dreweatts to contribute to the auction. MAtt can expand on the inspiration more but he shared with me the thought process and it was spot on.
If anyone finds where I can get a copy of the original image I'm there....
