CORKED - URBAN ANGEL SHOW, by timba82 on Aug 15, 2008 9:50:46 GMT 1, What a ridiciulous and uncalled for argument that has been started here. i for one have relied on romanwyg countless number of times for photos of shows when i havent been able to make it. get off his back guys and girls. its not deserved.

CORKED - URBAN ANGEL SHOW, by mcnuts on Aug 15, 2008 9:51:03 GMT 1, right. so the thread title says, CORKED - URBAN ANGEL SHOW. So far it has mostly involved someone complaining that another person takes pictures and shares them with people. Odd. So, what about the show?
Who went? What did you think?
Total pastiche of art (and ppl for that matter), some worked for me, others didnโtโ. I thought the Eines looked great but it was amazing to see the Zeus pieces in person. Know Hope was the stand out figure of the show for me.
Was a hell of a show and a downright ballsy move to host it on Cork Street where most of the other galleries were selling paintings of a sailing ships. Rock on.
There was more than enough beer to go around and the after party was at one of the coolest venues I have been to in London. A great night!

CORKED - URBAN ANGEL SHOW, by guest2 on Aug 15, 2008 11:22:34 GMT 1, Totally agree Seid, some of the most ridiculous things being said on this thread, none of which is deserved. Little bird in particular I think you need to justify your comments
uncalled for, Romany posts lots of pics for all of us to see, and I love his films too. He's also one of the nicest people out there.
Back to the show, I really liked Romanys piece alot. I love Arman's violins so was drawn to this straight away. Was not a great fan of the eines although i seemed to be in the minority-did love the 'hell' window though, 1st time i've seen no hope in the flesh and jpegs don't do his work justice, liked the oliver vernon pieces - i like jeff soto and it reminded me of his work. The little Vitche pieces were cool and loved the little Derek Albeck figures too. The overall show was great fun, really well organised and Andrew pretty much took over cork street. Nice mixture of people with a super happy friendly vibe.
Hats off to you Andrew for 1 fantastic event.

CORKED - URBAN ANGEL SHOW, by Harveyn on Aug 15, 2008 11:36:40 GMT 1, Great work Andrew and UA.
Really wish I could have made this one.
Love the Mikael Alacoque dogs. Thought as usual the Herakut and Labrona pieces were top drawer.
Loved Eine's new work and the Know Hopes pieces have really made me look again at his work.
This one is a beauty.
and those dogs

CORKED - URBAN ANGEL SHOW, by manchestermike on Aug 15, 2008 11:36:44 GMT 1, I quite liked the Eines, thought they were a little pricey, but once you take the VAT and framing off them they're not too bad. The highlights for me were the Zeus pieces, really very nice and the big Hush, even at ยฃ18k I'm not surprised both of the edition had sold. Frankie is right, Know Hope's work is totally different in the flesh, personally wouldn't have one on my wall but he is a class act. The Albeck figures were very cool and I the dog skull sculptures (I forget who they're by again) were brilliant, I was categorically told I couldn't have one in the house though Dotmasters still flummox me, there's an obvious talent, but the rubbish bags don't work for me. Grafter's work was up to his usual high standards too...
Good to see a few old and new faces there too, a very enjoyable evening, nice one Urban Angel

CORKED - URBAN ANGEL SHOW, by skanky on Aug 15, 2008 11:39:24 GMT 1, Great night, nice one Andrew it must have taken a lot of work to put that together. I dont think you can under estimate the impact this exhibition will make on that street.
You and me are gonna have words when that hangover settles ;D

CORKED - URBAN ANGEL SHOW, by buffin on Aug 15, 2008 11:40:29 GMT 1, Great night and the only disappointment was having to leave to catch the last train back to the West Country. Really liked Know Hope's work although it suddenly seems to have disappeared out of my price range. There was a stand out Labrona piece and I've not been a fan up until now, and really liked the Inkie canvases as well. Didn't get all the stuff there but there is something for all tastes and all pockets.

CORKED - URBAN ANGEL SHOW, by jusdeep on Aug 15, 2008 11:45:41 GMT 1, Fantastic show with an eclectic mix of people, art and a friendly atmosphere. Stand out artists for me have to be Know Hope, Romany/C215 collab, Eine and Hush, but most of the art on offer was of a very high standard and very eclectic. Great to catch up with a few familiar faces and was very sad to have to leave early.

CORKED - URBAN ANGEL SHOW, by manchestermike on Aug 15, 2008 11:50:29 GMT 1, did most pieces sell on the night?
Last time I looked in 5 out of the 8 Eines had gone, a few Zeus, Grafter and Alacoque had gone, although there were some left in each edition. The Herakut had sold and nearly all (if not all) the Hush. Half plus of the Know Hopes were sold. There were a fair few Dotmasters left and the rest I can't remember

CORKED - URBAN ANGEL SHOW, by romanywg on Aug 15, 2008 11:54:25 GMT 1, Never been to a busier opening, just mad. This pic was early on in the night where beers were served by a 'small person' from the back of a van. There was a constant queue inside the gallery that reminded me of a print queue but this was for the solitary toilet. Far quicker to cross the road and use the pubs.
