Jet-set Graffiti, by robotoil on Dec 6, 2008 15:49:14 GMT 1, So, there is someone else out 4K as well as someone out 8K. People missing other products too?
Daniel came on thegiant.org pushing his wares and did not deliver 2 dollar lithos until pushed to do so. Then came the 8K theft. The posts aren't available to view anymore, but Daniel (JSG) admitted to getting the money, 8K, and promised to ship/refund. Months later, he still hadn't sorted out the issue and ignored requests to explain himself. While, at the same time, still pushing his wares and promoting his establishment. Too much for me to silently watch.
A lot of money gets moved around these forums amongst art lovers who, 99.44% of the time don't have any problems. However, despite the number of members, this is a "small" community. If you plan on ripping people off, don't plan on doing it without expecting word to get around.

Jet-set Graffiti, by bigwilly on Dec 6, 2008 17:56:51 GMT 1, I'm sorry but if someone owed me 8 grand you better believe I'm going down to this cat's job. Isn't his studio right next to Subliminal Projects in LA? I would fly out there on principle alone...sorry to all who lost money, this guy is a complete scumbag. I read the posts on the Giant were he admitted to receving the money and never sent the said products. Then he sold the print to someone else on the board....Two words LOW LIFE!

Jet-set Graffiti, by manchestermike on Dec 6, 2008 21:24:48 GMT 1, I'm amazed how people get away with it...
JetSet on here and the giant forum verbalkint on here morrissey1 on here the guy on here running the 'competition' for new artists
Then for one reason or another the threads get moved or archived (due to legal action or not) people forget, someone else comes on with another great idea... and guess what, people buy into it... and people lose out.
It's hard to know what to say when you see a thread that looks like it might be a con... do you jump in on it? Of course you don't do, you'd get shot down for it left, right and centre. Unfortunately you can't be wise to something like this until after the event. With JetSet there were warning signs... but with the others there weren't. I think the main thing is as the forum/community, whether it's here or on thegiant or anywhere else for that matter, pulls together to try and stop anything like this happening again

online = stay sharp. the hype here is more evident than it was. the rip offs also are by their "forum nature" unregulated - no come back. Can the community weed out the chaff ? - i think it could - however i have no traction nor authority nor would i seek it here.
mike i see and hear where you‘re coming from - and to an extent agree... however there‘s a mess out there of people trying it on left right and centre --- "that" won‘t vanish overnight.
silky what are your views on this thorny matter ?

Jet-set Graffiti, by thetruth55 on Dec 7, 2008 0:24:28 GMT 1, yeah, Silky, what do you think? i must applaud thegiant.org fourm members for not only removing the negative comments about this scumbag JetSet, but also removing ALL content of his (his sale threads, etc.). you just can't have it both ways. if somebody is going to use the forums to do business, then they better also man up and take responsibility to answer their critics/victims.

Jet-set Graffiti, by romanywg on Dec 7, 2008 1:32:23 GMT 1, Jetset are very good about removing their own threads. The first time they came on here and tried to sell us Banksys Bethlehem Donkey they got such a backlash that they deleted all their comments and went off crying into the distance.

And has pull down the cached pages in google.
I want to know why the people who have gotten ripped off haven't filed charges with the police.
It appears to me as though Jet Set is hoping that the Brits think that it is too much of a hassle to do something. You do not have to hire an attorney to press charges. Just contact the police with the information about the transactions. I'm sure you all have banking documentation as well as correspondence. Daniel is a fool to play this game. Especially since he has actual storefronts, at least in L.A. Since, there are more then 1 of you ripped off here, pool your information and contact the authorities together. Going through the police will not necessarily get your money back, but justice won't cost you anything either. And, it just might land Daniel in the can with O.J. I have to imagine that at some point Daniel has had charges pressed against him with all the shenanigans we have seen here. There might already be a paper trail for the police.

Jet-set Graffiti, by howler on Dec 7, 2008 12:14:28 GMT 1, I don't get how any threats of legal action should lead to anything getting deleted as it all seems to fit in with "fair comment even if exaggerated and strident"
www.heise-online.co.uk/news/Judge-rules-on-internet-forum-comments--/111279
However wouldn't the deleting of data contravene data protection laws in the U.K. ?
As for Mr Graffiti, met him at a show, reminded me of a puppy I used to have running around all hyperactive and over excited, thought he was going to run over to a corner of the room and piss himself.
That would be my opinion "even if exaggerated and strident".

Jet-set Graffiti, by dzel on Dec 7, 2008 18:43:47 GMT 1, this read from him is an absolute load of crap. allow me to share my .02 cents here since i'm one of the few name dropped by danny-boy. i've >>>interjected my thoughts throughout his letter.
Copied from the site: "Recently, the owners of THEGIANT.ORG have been in communication with Daniel Lahoda ("Jet-Set Graffiti" of the gallery by the same name). That communication is re-printed below. Please read through it and I will re-join you for additional commentary, below. Mr. Lahoda's letter to THEGIANT.ORG: Mr. Daniel Lahoda, Jet-Set Graffiti, Lahoda Fine Arts, LLC wrote: Adam Meyer and Mary, Whereas it was my pleasure to meet and hang out with you both at my sponsored event with Ron English at Gallery XIV in Boston on July 2nd, I am now contacting you in regards to a most serious issue of defamation that seriously affects my business, and has caused considerable damages. I would not be contacting you without proof of this defamation and my willingness to take legal action against all responsible parties. As of the writing of this letter to you, I have sought legal counsel to protect my rights against continued defamatory statements made on your web-forum. >>>>>defamatory statements=having an opinion based on FACTS that he screwed many people over and people in the community called him out on it??? There are some facts that should be addressed before making a simple request. These facts have been supported and held evident by a number of ultimately reputable sources in the urban art world. For a glance at these references and my many legitimate associations, one needs only to view the videos and licensed artwork for sale on my website; >>>>>having artist videos on your website does not make anything/anyone a reputable source. licensed artwork? i hope you didnt pay for that verbage, danny boy. I am a fine art dealer/publisher with licensed legal corporations in New York, Nevada, and California. >>>>>where in NY? i read brooklyn somewhere in this thread. as for nevada, are you "donkeymotors" from henderson? you guys share some of the same business ethics or lack there-of. I operate my business and life with the utmost integrity. >>>>>from reading all the many testimonies about your shady business ethics/dealings, that sounds self-proclaimed on your end. I take responsibility for my actions both personally as well as professionally. >>>>>from reading all the many testimonies about your shady business ethics/dealings, that sounds self-proclaimed on your end.[/font] Recently, my integrity has come into question in regards to a supposed private debt to an anonymous member named 'TJWalker', who has been active on this board. I have defended myself insofar as making legally binding public statements that these allegations are false, and hold no merit. I do have proof of their falsehood that can and will be presented to the authorities should the question arise in a formal and legal forum. I am legally protected from the need to publicly present this information to maintain my unsolicited innocence. The fact that 5 months have passed since these allegations have been made, without any legal action taken against me or my business is further indication that these allegations are spurious. >>>>> he had brought this back to the surface last month upon which several people called you out on for explanation and once again, danny-boy had nothing to say about it. so i guess your self-proclaimed innocence is good enough for the community. as far of the lack of legal action...it's almost as if you are daring someone to do it because you think they wont spend the money to move foward with legal action. maybe many people were trying to give you the benefit of the doubt and let you make a mends [as you keep saying you have with free posters, etc....that few people ever received. tpeazy? but you never do. it's all semantics with you. Regardless of my public insistence in denial of these allegations on this forum, certain other self-proclaimed 'senior' members anonymously referred to as 'DZEL' and 'RobotOil' have maintained an illegal campaign of defamation and libel against myself and my legally licensed corporations; JetSet Graffiti, LLC and Lahoda Fine Arts, LLC. They have made libelous and defamatory statements on a number of threads to which I have willingly participated. These threads are monitored, edited, and censored under the auspices of yourselves as owners of this public forum. These 2 members are now actively engaged in 'following' me and continuing to issue publicly defamatory statements that "JetSet Graffiti = Fraud Artist" and "Daniel Lahoda = Fraud Artist". Both statements are untrue as of the dates of publication on this public forum, and will remain untrue indefinitely. >>>>>again...i hope you didnt pay for that verbage. robotoil and i never "proclaimed" we are senior members". we are not "stalking you" but merely trying to take an active role in the communities we visit to watch out for each other against people like you. all the facts and evidence is out there...and quite frankly if you were ever to get this heard in a court of law, you would lose big time; both time, money and what's left of your reputation. again, by you typing that statements are untrue DO NOT MEAN THAT THEY ARE UNTRUE INDEFINITELY. seriously, is your legal council in the third grade??? They collectively have joined in maintaining these allegations, whereas the original poster has abandoned his insistence of publicly maintaining said allegations. Instead, the anonymous member, TJWalker, has relied on Private Messages to RobotOil as an extremely active and trusted member and monitor of my posts to maintain these illegal allegations in a public manner. >>>>>so you just said that robotoil is "an extremely active and trusted member" thus solidifying HIS character. well played, sir. again, we look out for each other in these communities. maybe some people have more clout and backbone and status and a bigger voice to be heard? that's why sometimes people's testimony go through the channels they do.There are 2 threads in particular where this illegal campaign has been maintained, despite a fundamental lack of legal proof otherwise: {redacted} These allegations have made considerable damage to my reputation and business as a legitimate art dealer and limited edition publisher, with physical gallery locations in Los Angeles, and Brooklyn. >>>>>proof of damage to business and rep? and where in brooklyn are you located? i'm always in brooklyn, would love to check it out.I am hereby insisting that these illegal and publicly viewable statements be rescinded from publication on this and any site owned by yourselves. I do believe you operate this site as an educational and informative source for documentation on the genre of art that we are all extremely passionate about. I do not believe that you care to be party to any forthcoming investigation or lawsuit pertaining to these issues of defamation against myself or my company. >>>>> "I do believe you operate this site as an educational and informative source for documentation on the genre of art that we are all extremely passionate about." and that, danny boy is why these forums are free speech and why they are policed not by law but the discretion of said moderators. if they believe there is some merit to what the majority of people are saying and backed up evidently, it's fair game. again, my suggestion to you is to drop the shenanigans or look for new advisory council. If you agree to remove all defamatory content, I will provide a complete listing of all threads and posts with the aforementioned illegal content. I understand that there exists a difference between opinion and defamatory libel. For your own edification of your liability in these circumstances, I urge you to research the issue of internet defamation and its current legal precedent in the court system in New York, Rhode Island, and California. >>>>>so why would they remove all content only for you to provide what YOU to dictate who said what and where? I do continue to wish you the best, and I await your reply to my concerns. I have copied attorney Eric Syverson, of www.syversonlaw.com/, an authority of internet business and e-commerce law, this letter of my concerns. If this request is not met, we will be forced to take legal action to repair any and all damages made through this negligence as the owner/operators of this publicly viewed forum, where threads and statements are monitored and censored willingly by yourselves, or appointed moderators. This solicitation to remove all spurious defamatory and libelous content against myself and my businesses has been sent in confidence and your cooperation in maintaining its privacy is appreciated and duly noted. Sincerely, Daniel Lahoda CEO and President Lahoda Fine Arts, LLC. 1855 Industrial St. Los Angeles, CA. 90021 info@(Removed).com (702) 813-4006 (cell) (213) 415-1826 (Los Angeles Gallery) To: {redacted} THEGIANT.ORG's reply to Mr. Lahoda: Mr. Lahoda, Pursuant to your request, dated December 1, 2008, we will remove the threads indicated in your letter from public view on THEGIANT.ORG (“the site”). The material contained within those threads will be retained should future civil or criminal action warrant its release. Your letter will be posted publicly on the site as explanation for the material’s removal, as will a copy of this letter. Additionally, all material pertaining to the promotion of your business, Jet-Set Graffiti, will be removed from the site. And as it is not incumbent upon the site, its owners or administrators, to provide you with access for further business or self-promotion, your account and all privileges associated therewith are hereby rescinded. Any further communication with the site, its owners or its administrators, should be conducted through retained counsel via the addresses already in your possession. Sincerely, {site owners} A few important claims, presented as facts, are found within Mr. Lahoda's letter: In it, he's claiming a lack of legal action against him is proof of innocence, but it's not. In it he's claiming the fact he works with artists proves he isn't a fraud, but it doesn't. In it, he's claiming what is written about him in the forums is illegal, but the opposite is true. (If anything, it's a matter for civil court which doesn't cover criminality.) Still, as this is a litigious society and one can file suit for any reason at all, valid or otherwise, we felt it best to remove all previously-posted references to Mr. Lahoda and his business dealings from the site. As is noted in our response to him, above, that material has been retained should future criminal or civil charges warrant its release. Parties with interest in civil or criminal action against Mr. Daniel Lahoda, Jet-Set Graffiti or Lahoda Fine Arts, LLC may request access to this information through their retained counsel or by valid court order directed to the owners and administrators of this site. Many of your posts were caught up in the sweep of "Lahoda Material," and for that we apologize. It was a regrettable reality that it had to be done. No further discussion of Mr. Daniel Lahoda, Jet-Set Graffiti or Lahoda Fine Arts, LLC will be permitted on this site without first notifying the site's owners and administrators of your intention and the discussion's content, and obtaining approval prior to posting. Failure to notify the site's owners and administrators and obtain permission prior to posting information regarding Mr. Daniel Lahoda, Jet-Set Graffiti or Lahoda Fine Arts, LLC will result in your post's deletion and resulting warnings and forum suspensions. We apologize for this as well, but it is another regrettable reality. --Admonkey, THEGIANT.ORG administrator" in addition to all of the above and before danny-boy was removed from thegiant.org, i was sent a PM from daniel lahoda/jetset graffiti out of the blue that reads as follows:
"Punch him in the mouth" Sent at: Mon Oct 27, 2008 4:19 pm From: Jet-Set Graffiti To: DZEL
Feel free to stop by the gallery anytime, or if you see me out somewhere, introduce yourself...
You're more than welcome to come over and walk the talk. I'm not the one hiding behind a computer. Otherwise, shut up before you get yourself in real trouble. You don't know much about me, that's for sure...
Later (I hope),
Daniel Lahoda

--Admonkey, THEGIANT.ORG administrator" in addition to all of the above and before danny-boy was removed from thegiant.org, i was sent a PM from daniel lahoda/jetset graffiti out of the blue that reads as follows: "Punch him in the mouth" Sent at: Mon Oct 27, 2008 4:19 pm From: Jet-Set Graffiti To: DZEL Feel free to stop by the gallery anytime, or if you see me out somewhere, introduce yourself... You're more than welcome to come over and walk the talk. I'm not the one hiding behind a computer. Otherwise, shut up before you get yourself in real trouble. You don't know much about me, that's for sure... Jet-set Graffiti, by artstylee on Dec 7, 2008 20:19:08 GMT 1, damn DZEL is all over the online message boards, he's on it.
Online Art/Money Beef is crazy. I guess all publicity isn't good publicity. Seems like getting banned from that forum ticked Jet Set off a bit huh?
Would be mad weak if that Dan-boy Jet Set guy is blaming online forums soley for messing up his business, when most galleries even LACMA is seeing a hit from the economy. Times are tough. I see both sides, and the whole thing is pretty petty. But threatening to take legal action is a bit much, and I'm not a big fan of that legal threat letter stuff. it's a bitch move.
I dont' know who Ron is,... but the one time I went into Jet Set Graffitti Gallery in LA and whoever was there running the gallery that day was a scruffy thin white dude/ and wouldn't scare anybody(dude was soft/weak/malnourished looking). I was really surprised he was there by himself running a gallery that was in the heart of LA in the ghetto by ecco park.
Overall you guys are being a bunch of highschool broads about this. Life's too short to bicker about B.S. trying to take people down etc. If Dan from Jet Set really owes some guy 8000. Then he knows he needs to make that right. He could sell a few Camo boy prints and get that banged out right quick.
Really the whole problem could have stemmed from something as slight as Dan from Jet Set Graffitti blowing some guy off one day at an art show, or being short or unintentionally pricky with somebody, and that customer/gallery goer wanted to f with him online. People are nuts and I don't put anything by anybody. I wonder if he really owes anybody dough for art. Truley, We don't know this guys dealings/finances etc..
to DZEL: If you bought a damaged poster, exchange it , or get refunded. Don't bitch about it after if you chose to get stuck with it, by not returning it. Should have returned it, and you really Can't break balls knocking him for providing you with a slightly damaged poster if you didn't follow through and allow them the opportunity to make it right. Might have even been provided a bonus for your troubles. It doesn't change the fact that you received a slightly damaged print but ultimately you could have returned it for a mint one. I'm sure he would have given you two copies of that poster to not go online and try to encourage people ruining his rep online. Also it could have been UPS or USPS that dung it up.
People are dying everyday/everywhere and you clowns are talking about fighting over online bickerings. If you do fight please promote it online I would love to see two punk ass pussies go at it over art.

Jet-set Graffiti, by pfffffffffft on Dec 7, 2008 20:51:55 GMT 1, This is a gallery who represents a relatively well known artist yet continues to rip people in this community off.
I have zero issue with these warnings being posted here, has kept my business out of his hands.
This is not just some beef, this is theft, from a supposedly respectable member of this community. The community should be aware of it.

Jet-set Graffiti, by rosstierney on Dec 7, 2008 22:24:59 GMT 1, well . . . he's been lurking:
banksyforum.proboards82.com/index.cgi?action=viewprofile&user=lahoda
sorry guys but I have to comment on Jetset, I know him personally and he is a good guy, his intentions are good and well received. What you guys arent probably aware is, how much he raised for the Palestinians, allowing a family to buy their land, which otherwise they would never have had such an opportunity. He is a well respected and stand up guy, and this hostility towards him based innuendo's is one of the reasons this forum can be an unpleasant place.
still friends als?

if you think i'm bitching about a $20 damaged poster, please re-read my sentiments. i stated that i'm not worried about a $20 poster from him. it goes way behind that...and not even about me besides the threats.
i'm merely helping to spread the word about shady business ethics so people dont get fooled/burned in the future.
believe me i'm not losing sleep over it...just trying to help out the community.
