'Slick Dude!' Ltd ed screen print by AP, by rosstierney on Jun 7, 2010 16:05:21 GMT 1, just wondering why you opted to screen-print over hand-spray? not feeling the canvas tbh, the image looks incomplete without the white face/hand.

I think AP told me each colour plate was sprayed to make the final print look more like a spray with under/overspray. I know he's been working his socks off to get this out as the image is obviously topical at present and also with TB&TC, Upfest, T-Shirts, art for said shows he's been a busy man.

'Slick Dude!' Ltd ed screen print by AP, by Agent Provocateur on Jun 7, 2010 17:20:19 GMT 1, Thanks for all the comments.
Bazz, tomorrow I'll post all the details, edition number, size, price etc
Ross, damn that's ironic, it's my favourite 'Slick Dude!' canvas! I think it really works with the splashes coming off the wave. By purposely leaving off the white silhouette the different elements are much more intertwined, working as a whole rather than the sharper, more separate elements on the print.
Man can pollute but I'm pretty sure ultimately the wave will get the better of him...

'Slick Dude!' Ltd ed screen print by AP, by Agent Provocateur on Jun 7, 2010 17:29:04 GMT 1, Damn, cheers Jusdeep, forgot to say why I didn't hand spray rather than screen print them.
A JD said I did hand spray each of the colour films to produce the screens, I really like to keep a feel of the stencil in the print. Doing a small hand sprayed paper edition would be fine, but when you get up to certain numbers you'd have to be re-cutting the stencil many times as and when all the holes start to clog up with paint. This also means there's a problem with a consistent quality throughout the edition.

'Slick Dude!' Ltd ed screen print by AP, by Agent Provocateur on Jun 8, 2010 13:31:13 GMT 1, It was a control thing hanky, the canvas I did at Upfest was 4 foot wide allowing enough room for a totally random effect. The screen print being smaller meant I needed more control so that the final print was clear and balanaced.
It looks like the edition information and how to reserve one will be posted around(!) 15.00 GMT today...

'Slick Dude!' Ltd ed screen print by AP, by willywonka on Jun 8, 2010 15:19:00 GMT 1, Hmmmmm never really been a fan of artists selling A/P's that are identical to the normal print but then passing them off as a smaller run.
Yours to do as you please with though.
Would have been cooler if you'd done some wacky colours but I guess then you wouldn't be able to use the BP angle.

'Slick Dude!' Ltd ed screen print by AP, by Martin Whatson on Jun 8, 2010 16:41:47 GMT 1, Well, the point about an artistproof is to give the artist an impression of how the print will look finished. No reason to do wacky colours if it's not a plan to go for wacky colours in the original run.
Amazing print AP! Good luck with the sales.

I like it, but think hand sprayed would have been better and cheaper to produce. Even for a run of 40 prints. I dont think you would have needed no more than 2 stencils and im sure they do not take that long to cut

Thanks for taking the time to explain AP. I like the oil spray too but the missing white layer is this first thing my eyes are drawn to. Nice print though & good to see a special edition

Thats a good question, and I guess the best answer is 'Why not?'! I usually only have a problem when people are selling 35 ap's thats just the same as the normal run!!

'Slick Dude!' Ltd ed screen print by AP, by Agent Provocateur on Jun 10, 2010 20:34:23 GMT 1, Apologies, I have just been off the phone for a second time to my email company... to cut a long story short it seems the first time I sent out the email the subject line got caught in their spam filter so they didn't send it! The only reason I knew it hadn't gone through was I cc'd it to myself. After the first call and getting this info. I resent the email with a different subject line, 'Screen print confirmation emails to be sent out Friday 11 June', cc'ing myself in again it never came through!!!! Ahhh
Third time lucky and all that, I have sent them all again with a shorter subject line and they seem to have gone through.
I apologise for the time it's taken to get back to everyone, thanks for being patient.
