Palestine Splashed Donkey has been resurected..., by neutral on Feb 16, 2008 2:17:03 GMT 1, Was it not non palestinians that have splashed that piece with washable paint so they could have it preserved ? All with the intention of removing the wall at the later stage and bring that back to the UK... Very interesting side of the story we have here !

Palestine Splashed Donkey has been resurected..., by jam on Feb 16, 2008 2:29:50 GMT 1, Through his associations with Artists and Art lovers over the years, Daniel has maintained a fundamental regard for the integrity of an individual artist’s philosophy and creative vision. He has had the pleasure of supporting and furthering the careers of many world-renowned artists, including Ron English, Swoon, Shawn Barber, Anthony Ausgang, Tom Everhart, Frank Sinatra, Al Hirschfeld, Norman Rockwell, Banksy, The Seventh Letter crew, and many others.
Point one: What exactly have you done to 'support and further the careers' of the artists you mention in the quote above? Above all, I am quite interested in knowing what you did to further someone like Norman Rockwell's carreer, seeing how he has been dead for nearly 30 years.
Point two: Do you care to comment on the glaring conflict in the statement about how you work to maintain "a fundamental regard for the integrity of an individual artist’s philosophy and creative vision"... yet you are on here trying to hawk a piece of street art by Banksy and he is on record as being adamantly against the sale of any pieces he paints in public areas.

Do you mean you profitted by selling their artwork for money? Is the same true for: including Ron English, Swoon, Shawn Barber, Anthony Ausgang, Tom Everhart, Frank Sinatra, Al Hirschfeld, Norman Rockwell, Banksy, The Seventh Letter crew, and many others.?
By your standards :
I furthered the career of Banksy!
(well i will if i ever sell a Banksy anyway)

Palestine Splashed Donkey has been resurected..., by romanywg on Feb 16, 2008 10:27:55 GMT 1, Q:How many people do you think would have to go over there and feed the economy a couple days at a time to make any kind of difference...
A:Unfortunately it's not going to be a few pieces of art on walls that are going to change anything out there, but however many people went out there to see the art that would have helped in some small way.
Q:Do you think that Taxi driver would make more money taking Banksy's art for himself, or giving you a ride from one side of town to the next?
A:In the long run, if artists kept on going over there, (which I'm sure would have been Banksys ideal) who knows how long that taxi drivers carreer could have been sustained. I wouldn't have thought that too many taxi drivers could afford to hire a diamond cutter. I may be wrong.
Q:Your comments kind of reflect a certain self-centered concern that I wouldn't have expected from you, judging by your other posts on other topics. [/quote]
A:Self-centered concern? I don't think so. I was hoping that this would not just centre around Santas Ghetto 2007 but would continue this year and the next and the next. It would continue to garner publicity and more and more people would go over there to see the art and understand the plight of the people. Now I think artists will think twice about going and that is the shame.

Palestine Splashed Donkey has been resurected..., by snakes on Feb 16, 2008 10:50:43 GMT 1, If the wall is up to keep the Israeli's out of Palestine how come they are able to pull down the wall to be able to sell it?
Surely this will lead to an invasion unless the gap is plugged and seeing as Palestine is so small how will it cope with all the extra Israeli migrants?

Palestine Splashed Donkey has been resurected..., by seidbereit on Feb 16, 2008 11:20:32 GMT 1, Point 1: I remain unconvinced that your interest is in much else but yourself. I have absolutely no doubt these people, if they had so chosen and had been left alone to do so, could quite easily have finished what they started without you whatever they gained from it would be theirs and they'd still have been happy with it. Point 2: (see point 3) Point 3: ...and you say I make an effort to portray these people as primitive? Utterly laughable. I did nothing of the sort. I said "Does anyone else find it a little patronising that were supposed to believe these Palestinian men with hungry families aren't clever enough and able enough to do all this on their own". Put another way, I'm the one who DOES believe they are quite easily able to pull this off without you, you, on the other hand, have merely poisoned them with your fiscal advice which doesn't really sit all that well with the part of your missive I've marked as being Point 2 does it? Point 4: dear me.... I almost thought you were going to tell us you died on the cross for us for a minute. Are you Bob Geldof or Bono or someone? Point 5: but we won't be sharing in it will we. Someone who has (you hope) half a million dollars will have it at the bottom of his garden. Where's the sharing in that? You've lost any modicum of repect I could possibly still have had for you mainly because you tried to twist my words around to suit your own purpose which - on the basis of this RUBBISH, I've just replied to - looks more like some sort of application for admission to sainthood for yourself, rather than actually helping these people with long term future prospects, nope - the quick buck and lots of it in one go, that's the Las Vegas way. In the words of Molesworth I diskard you. Respond as you will, I couldn't care a fig. Your comments are assumptive and reactionary. They don't warrant a response... People can take that as they will. I have no issues at all with what I'm doing. Too bad that you do.
Ridiculous, my comments can't be assumptive as they're based purely on statements you've made. I even colour-coded the statements I was commenting on to assist your being able to see this, but apparently even this was of no help to you, but I rather think you couldn't find any steady argument against them.
Your whole venture is based on the premise that having works by Banksy in town is too good for the people of Bethlehem, because it could be "worth" 500k to someone else. You talk about it being a "sustainable business prospect", whereas to anyone who doesn't have your motives, the word "sustainable" has nothing to do with what you're doing. Please read Romanywg's comments on this for further details.
I fully agree with Romanywg and his feelings on this as those pieces, be they by Banksy or whoever else put art on the walls, belong in the environment they were created in and are at their most powerful in that context. They would have drawn a lot more tourism to the area (which would be a form of sustainable support) than your removal of them for a one-off injection of cash (which is not a form of sustainable support) could ever achieve.

Palestine Splashed Donkey has been resurected..., by chopswing on Mar 4, 2008 17:55:03 GMT 1, They are that desperate they are asking for 500k! Yeah right. And don't go saying it's the market value, you will just look stupid. What about the other people affected the same way in Palestine, will they be getting a slice of the Banksy pie? Or will it be just your friends because you built their hopes up by saying that they could get a fortune from it if they sold it! What happens when they don't, will they be really disappointed or would they see what they may get for the Faile or Swoon? I suppose it is one way of getting the wall down.
