Thank you, we get a lot of compliments on it, sometimes a little bit too much. People will come in and say "Wow i like the floor" and not even look at the art, but whatever floats your boat. Oh, and it is a handfull to keep clean and scuff free, but it's worth it. ;D

It was not a Barry Mcgee Phil Frost show. It was a solo show with Phil only but we did have a group show featuring some of Mcgee's work. Who knows, maybe we will have a show with Barry Mcgee ? Hmmm...... You never know
As for the poster, we do not have any of the american dream flyer but feel free to print one out your self and give it to your buddy.

It's just all 24 prints stacked on top of each other. I don't think anyone has (and will ever) release a print that thick.

KNOWN GALLERY, by Known Gallery on Nov 25, 2010 2:55:58 GMT 1, Hello friends. Sorry for the lack of updates, but things can get pretty busy around here. Just wanted to let you guys know about about the show we had last month.
Last month a very good friend of ours had his first solo show here at our very own Known Gallery. PUSH, a member of the world renown Seventh Letter crew, was very excited about his first show. He knew he had to kick things up a notch and he did not want to just nail up some pieces on the wall to fill up space. He decided to go for a solid collection of work and was focused more on quality instead of quantity.
As for the "Kicking it up a notch" part, he painted the entire out side our the gallery and one of our main walls inside.
This took him 3 long days of painting in the rain, painters block, and a very short schedule on his back due to opening night.
The show went great and he sold more than half of his work, it flew on the first day.
;D ;D ;D That was part one of a much needed update. I am feeling a bit under the weather right now so I will post some more tomorrow.
Check back soon.

KNOWN GALLERY, by Known Gallery on Nov 30, 2010 23:21:14 GMT 1, PART 2!!
Now that we have briefly covered PUSH in our main room, lets not forget that we have a "Project room". It's not as big is our main room but we still get amazing artist to feature in it.
During PUSH's show we had CARL RAUSCHENBACH or CR for short.
"Referencing Sign Painting, Typography and Graffiti as a point of departure, CR reinterprets the letterform into his own abstract language and now finds himself sampling his own work to create new bold and intimate forms within the picture frame. Influences include Josef Albers from the Bauhaus (1920 - 1933), Phase2 known as the originator of bubble letters or โsoftiesโ from New York graffiti in the1970โs."
In early 2010 CR met PUSH for the first time at Known Gallery while working on the installation of two major shows. Following the galleryโs inaugural Haze x Stussy show, the โFreedom Showโ, is when CR and PUSH exhibit work together for the first time. Long time graffiti legend Eric Haze, who initially introduced the two, says: โI saw a lot of parallels in both of their styles and the economy of how they executed their ideas... Plus, I also had a strong feeling that they would connect personally, considering they both share the same quiet kind of dedication to perfecting the math of their own visions.โ As a result of the bond made during this period, CR was invited by PUSH and Known Gallery to participate in this show, for which he has responded with a new body of work to be unveiled this month
CR has worked as a studio assistant for Ryan McGinness, James Marshall (Dalek) and Eric Haze, during which time he spent years of drawing and mastering the abstract style that he works in today. Rauschenbach currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

KNOWN GALLERY, by Known Gallery on Jan 2, 2011 23:43:17 GMT 1, OPEN SPACE
"The ocean is and always has been the epicenter of my existence on this planet. I am an aquanaut on a thruster in this ever amazing and boundless liquid energy. I have optimized and streamlined my life to ensure maximum time gliding across water. Every choice and relationship, all decisions and waking thoughts (and most dreams) are influenced and infused by the pull of the tides, the whiff of an offshore breeze, and the lucid corduroy lines gracefully stampeding towards the coast.
I go to the sea to surf, to bond with friends or to be alone, to let out aggression or to find inner peace. The moving ocean is my solid ground. The moment one stands up on a board, propelled by a wave racing across the sea, one is only aware of the present - nothing else. I have never found any other way to achieve that absolutely pure and meditative mindstate.
Open Space is my expression of the state one falls into while floating weightless off shore, looking out to sea, hoping and waiting for the next set. Troubles are isolated far away on the unreality of land, while you are free in the truest reality of water. It is a timeless unspoilable state that cannot be ruined, not even by the angry local that may be slashing your tires and waxing your windows simply because he doesnโt want to share some waves. To a surfer it's an understandable act of necessary evil to keep an ungoverned subculture in form, and from it breaking into full bore beach-blanket-bingo havoc.
Open Space is a collection of images, collages, and installations that evoke the balance in my life."
-Keegan Gibbs
