Little experiment, by My Name is Frank on Aug 2, 2010 21:42:08 GMT 1, Hi all,
Just been messing around with a little idea involving polystyrene and spraypaint. First attempt of many (measures around A4):
Flickr has bigger pics. Cheers, Lef

Little experiment, by Coach on Aug 2, 2010 22:01:37 GMT 1, What a coincidence - was just (not more than 5 minutes ago) sitting with my lad looking at one of your stickers that is stuck on his laptop, working out the letters on that piece. Really like the poly effect!

Little experiment, by My Name is Frank on Aug 2, 2010 22:45:49 GMT 1, Cheers mate. Gonna do a bigger version soon. The totem needs to be thicker for the effect to work properly. Opens up some interesting possibilities though. Watch this space. Lef

Its like a reverse stencil. The but the bit that normally ends up in the bin gets lightly spraymounted to the polystyrene. In this case the totem was a bit too skinny in places (will go fat next time). Then heavy amounts of spray is used that melts the exposed styrene. The idea was to leave a relief of the totem when the stencil card is peeled off. Has different results depending on the density of the styrene. A huge 4ft piece I found in a skip didn't not melt very well. Gonna keep experimenting though. I think its got potential. Cheers for looking. Lef
