lino, block and woodcut artists, by walshy on Jul 30, 2010 20:16:06 GMT 1, lol no idea mate, only ever used normal lino. I should imagine the lino would be better though as its a harder surface

lino, block and woodcut artists, by clio on Jul 30, 2010 20:22:52 GMT 1, you can also use a hot water bottle to heat the lino, just leave the lino on the hot water bottle for a bit and then keep it their while u cut

lino, block and woodcut artists, by T*3 on Jul 30, 2010 20:27:26 GMT 1, i watched a swoon video some time ago and she was using an iron to soften the lino. I think that might be the fastest option.

lino, block and woodcut artists, by Oliver Winconek on Jul 31, 2010 14:17:48 GMT 1, I've done lino printing quite a few times now. I always heat the lino in a microwave first on a medium setting as I find an oven can make it quite brittle and it gets harder to do fine detail. Hope that helps

Cheers for the tip, can I once again say... im not putting it in a oven. Im using the hob as a hot plate . I have it on number 2 and hold the lino on the hob for no more than 10 seconds.

lino, block and woodcut artists, by T*3 on Jul 31, 2010 16:41:48 GMT 1, wilfsboy i dont think it was the lino that was the problem but my lack of skills at printing, im sure you will do fine. I have had some better results today and im getting a better feel for the materials. i will post some photos soon, just having a few problems with my camera.

lino, block and woodcut artists, by bunnyboy on Jul 31, 2010 19:17:08 GMT 1, T*3 - I watched Dale Grimshaw working on some amazing woodcut prints at the Represent show. There's an example here www.dalegrimshaw.com/dg20b.htm. Stanley Donwood has also produced quite a few linocut prints in his time (http://shop.slowlydownward.com/Store/DisplayItems-1-0-prints.html).

lino, block and woodcut artists, by T*3 on Aug 5, 2010 15:30:33 GMT 1, come on walshy, a one man competition isnt much fun
cheers meatbag just checked his site, there is nice stuff but i didnt see any lino or wood prints just screened prints. I did however see that his work has a similar look to my lino print which i found alittle disapointing, looks like im gona have to change a few things up for my next print.

lino, block and woodcut artists, by Mark Perronet on Aug 5, 2010 16:18:04 GMT 1, Have a look at Roman Klonek's fabulous woodcuts, he uses the so called suicide technique where all the colours are made from the same piece of wood. He cuts one colour, prints his total edition then works on the block for the next colour and so on.
