Adam Koukoudakis, by Winter on Jun 30, 2007 0:19:52 GMT 1, Personally I think his work is second rate. For a new(ish) artist to be producing such poor quality fake Banksy style work is a bit weak (imo). The messages are weak as is the execution. He should take a step back and start developing his own style. If he's in this for the long-term he needs a re-think. I don't mean to insult anyone who owns/likes his work but every time I see it, I just want to tell him to become an artist in his own right. What's with the smurf?

Adam Koukoudakis, by Art-el on Oct 25, 2007 20:11:59 GMT 1, The definitive guide to Mr Koukoudakis
Yes he is an artist No he is not managed by Laz Yes he exhibited at Lazinc in a group show titled Stench No he did not get any Micallef prints after hours of queing Yes he was grumpy about it No they're not related it's coincidence they have Greek surnames Yes the good folk at www.Art-el.co.uk are now selling Adam's work.
MM I'm confused where should the thread be?

Adam Koukoudakis, by BK83 on Oct 25, 2007 20:27:11 GMT 1, I dont see what the fussis about Adam's work. I find it to be very one-dimesional and amatuer. None of his images are even remotely entertaining and he aboslutely has no staying power. Can someone please enlighten me as to how and why he has any representation at all. SOrry if this comes across as a bit harsh.... I just honestly can't see what all the fuss is about. I mean, i read another thread this morning of someone praising Swoon's new work (whihc is fucking brilliant) and then I come across this thread about Adam and people are singing his praises as well -- How can you even compare the two?!!!!

Adam Koukoudakis, by pezlow on Oct 25, 2007 20:50:01 GMT 1, I can understand where you are coming from jaypaav. I think you need to see Adam's stuff in the flesh to really appreciate it. He doesn't use much spraypaint - he creates his canvases through tiny dots of acrylic ink. They really are impressive when you look at them, although I accept the imagery is not everyone's cup of tea.

Adam Koukoudakis, by Simococo on Oct 25, 2007 21:08:50 GMT 1, I don't think there is any fuss about his work. I won the Bloody Blair at Pezlow's auction and its an amazing piece. Like Pez said it is made up of hundreds of dots and when you see it in the flesh it looks technically superb. After meeting Adam and speaking to him about his art/passion and seeing him work at Cargo I thought fair game, genuine bloke who loves his work and I for one hope he has a very bright future ahead of him.

Adam Koukoudakis, by mainartery on Oct 25, 2007 22:43:39 GMT 1, The trouble with the blair work is that the image is anatomically incorrect which faults the image straight away, i also think the concept is predictable.

Adam Koukoudakis, by Winter on Oct 25, 2007 22:57:18 GMT 1, I was going to say I thought the head on Blair looked too big but anatomically incorrect is a far better expression. I haven't seen one in the flesh so it wouldn't be fair to knock the technique. Adam needs a strong exhibition to prove how good he is. I haven't seen anything to suggest that yet.

Adam Koukoudakis, by Art-el on Oct 26, 2007 16:42:56 GMT 1, Hello All Hello All
Just to say that whether you like or diislike his work as art it's acheived one criteria that art should, spark debate. IMO
I don't see the relevance of the comparision with Swoon, it's horses for courses. If we all liked the same it would be a dull old world.
Pezlow is a man of knowledge and experience and his post is spot on.
Alot of the stuff that Adam does that people view as poor photoshop is in fact intricate and clever use of collage.
In the flesh is when you see the real beauty of Adam's unique style of CMYK dot painting is incredible, a real labour of love with a huge ammount of hours per piece
Yes my opinion is pro his work, hence the reason we at Art-el
