Banksy • Barcode Print, by Hairbland on Feb 3, 2016 22:33:24 GMT 1, From the article , the print was the only valuable article not put into storage ? Highly valuable and easy to remove into storage . After all the recently highlighted mishaps of these rental sites , a quick Google search would list pros and cons . Too easy to make a false insurance claim which this could be Yes, this sounds bogus to me I have Airbnb'd my Brooklyn place for months now with only a $14 bird book and a $20 Lennon statue taken, which I considered the cost of doing business. It is very easy to vet on Airbnb, most won't rent to someone who has never rented (both ways, owner and prospective tenant). How'd these youngsters get such an expensive flat? Seems like a staged scam. Never did it before, tried it and rented to lunatics and their only valuable item taken?
Ironically, it smells like a rat. Ha ha.

Banksy • Barcode Print, by stillborncrisps on Feb 4, 2016 0:48:16 GMT 1, I think you're all being harsh. This could easily be innocent.
If you own a £1m flat, pulling an insurance scam for a 'mere' £8k hardly seems worth the risk.
They'd also be pretty dumb going to the press over it if it was an insurance job.
I think these guys just put too much trust in AirBnB's vetting policy and are now paying the price.

You'll be surprised that some people still cheat insurance policies that seem financially secure ,not saying this is the case here , but happens
But the way you read the article , guy is 27 when purchased the £1 million flat , so would say is astute from a young age , and would say social media aware , a lot of Airbnb mishaps to review online plus not even thinking it would be stolen I would be worried if it was knocked and damaged , sometimes more to these stories.

Have to say I agree with you. Why on earth would you go to the daily mail if you were doing insurance fraud!

Banksy • Barcode Print, by Sliding on the Walls on Feb 4, 2016 21:54:24 GMT 1, This sucks. I'm guessing that these guys read the scare stories about Airbnb and made the decision to give humanity the benefit of the doubt. He's used the site before as a visitor himself, and sadly for them they let it out to an opportunist thief.
He should be straight onto Pest Control with the number of that print.
It will be covered on his home insurance AND air bnb's insurance also.

Would you really leave valuables lying around with a complete stranger staying in your house and then leaving while you are not there.

The picture wasn't even hung up on the wall. "It was framed, ready to be hanged" left on the floor, at the top of the stairs inbetween the top banister and a cupboard.
Yeh right!

Banksy • Barcode Print, by snoozy on Nov 26, 2016 1:34:13 GMT 1, Question to those better knowledgeable than myself, many I know... I have seen a few images of signed Barcodes recently, and it seems some are signed in ink, some pencil, some with year some without...and one had POW embossed where the edition was. Is there a reason for this other than the one I can think that they were older, so moved slower and at the time more individual? Curious.... Thx

In all honesty, I think that POW were a bit more rogue back in the early days. The lower numbered prints were alleged to have been numbered in person by Banksy and there's a bit of rumour to suggest that this could be accurate. The embossing chiefly seems to feature on the later editions. I am sure that someone has a more concrete answer for you.
By way of update with my own print, I have requested a replacement COA and am resigned to selling it sooner rather than later so I'm hoping that it's not too protracted a process.

Getting the COA might b protracted but you'll need a sh!tty stick to beat off the buyers once you put it up for sale

bit of trivia: in la 2006, while laz numbered the majority of the 'barely legal' prints, many others were done (very neatly I should add) by kelsey brookes. and as for the remainder - dubbed 'barely legible' at the time - well, sorry about those ones...
