Oli Postcards sale on 20th June, by pezlow on Mar 3, 2011 19:04:40 GMT 1, So I've been persuaded to do something again for the charity which I am trustee for. The Oli Bennett Charitable trust.
We are having a do in June and want to an anonymous art sale along very similar lines to the royal college of art secret postcard show RCA Secret. For those of you who don't know about Rca secret it is a show where artists create beautiful postcard sized works of art and then they are exhibited for a week and sold off to general public. The twist is that the artist signs the postcard on the back so the buyer doesn't know whose artwork they have got until they buy the card and then turn it over.
We are doing the same. All postcards will be exhibited online and then sold on the evening of the event.
All proceeds will go to the Oli Bennett Charitable Trust which is set up in the name of a school friend of mine Oli Bennett who was killed during 9/11 at the twin towers. The trust supports young people, many of whom are underprivileged, who have business ideas but
for whatever reasons are unable to get funding by other means. It fulfills a similar role to the Princes Trust.
Any artists who would like to help by designing one or more postcards for sale would be much appreciated. Please pm me or email olipostcards@btinternet.com with you address and I will get some cards off to you.

You've put great time and energy into very successful past auctions for the trust so best of luck Perry. If you let me know material these need to be produced on (I grasp the size!) then I will round up contributions from a good few Bristolian/Bristol based artists.

Then I will update you with more contributor news. The cards will all be scanned/photographed and published online for a week before the sale, so you will have plenty of time to choose your favourites

I am involved in an exact same thing whereby artists, designers, illustrators and photographers (and none of the above) have been asked to design a postcard and then if you attend the private view, you pay ยฃ20 for a ticket and that ticket has a number on it and that number will be the one that is displayed with all the contributions, so it's an anonymous selection. The event is called mini Secret art Sale and all proceeds go to charity...Loads of artists are contributing and BRP have been very interested in contributing some of their artists too so is worth you getting in touch with them Pezlow! I'll be there and would be happy to contribute and to buy a few on the night too! Best of luck!

Even if you think you know the name of the artist who did the card please don't give the game away.
