? I probably pay far too much attention to the most desirable works as it fascinates me so. I know the other flag did 120 and I believe Sir Branson sold a Johns target for ~80 a couple years ago. I have never heard a word of a single Koons private sale topping his auction record of 27 and generally buyers LOVE to publicize those purchases through anonymous sources at vastly inflated prices.
Personally, I thought the Chrichton flag would go for double what it sold for so if anything I believe I can be accused of being agressive with my estimates. I'd be stunned, again in this environment, to see a print on or off the auction block for Koons anything at 50+ but that's just me. take care

seven-emerging-artists-new-york-art-scene, by jamesreeve5 on Jun 1, 2010 22:37:17 GMT 1, Would love to hear stingerbell explain the statement that he posted on the internet about how we are living in a post-internet world.
but that's besides the point...
I don't really think the Koons would go for six figures. Mainly because it's not a painting, and secondly because it's an edition of 3. That being said, I bet it would have an estimate of $30m - 40m, and would probably end up going for about $60 - 70m.
That's beside the point too really...

seven-emerging-artists-new-york-art-scene, by snausages on Dec 14, 2010 2:44:33 GMT 1, Benefit sale going on in NYC now with a lot of works for sale by artists mentioned in this article or the greater NY show also mentioned in this thread. www.foundationforcontemporaryarts.org/benefit.html?start=150&
Nice thing is you didn't have to be on a wait list or be a VIP preferred client to get access to this stuff. You just need to be pay able to pay in full immediately. I luckily was able to pick up a canvas by one of this years Greater NY/Biennial artists. I've now picked up 3 significant works by artists in this years Whitney Biennial and Greater NY Shows. If they do half as well as the 00 or 05 class I'll be happy.
Some of the more recent Greater NY and Whitney Biennial Alums in the show: Dana Schutz Nate Lowman Adam Pendleton R.H. Quaytman Alex Hubbard Matthew Day Jackson Joe Bradley Dan Colen Sarah Crowner Ishmael Randall Weeks Zak Prekop Bruce High Quality
Also in this show I recommend... Ryan Sullivan (On the up and up, shows with maccarone and also at oh-wow recently) Ruby Sky Stiler (Just got mentioned as "one to watch" in Modern Painters magazine.)
Plus if you got dosh, a Jake & Dinos and a Julian Opie for about $30k each - and there's always the Hirst canvas for $500k.
