TOP 5 ARTISTS 2009, by crazyarsemother on Oct 20, 2009 10:51:45 GMT 1, Good call, loved the Scotland thing, Stormies little characters were cracking, all round good job up there Remi, a bit different eh... Hehe, thanks mate... Was extremely challenging, but great fun! I just felt we need to do something to put some love back into this art, We'd started to miss the point entirely, as I think a lot of other artists have too... Full film should be done in 10 days or so.
Interesting comment Remi - go on? (and BTW the Scotland project looks really exciting, it was likea ready made Jamie Torrell - that and JRs women project both really made me sit up).

Hey James... put simply we're all so busy hustling the reason behind it is suffering. I'm in no way excluding myself from this either. I just felt I'd had enough of commercialisation for the moment. I'm still an artist at heart and probably destined to struggle for eternity, but it's the art that has to come first. It was put together on an absolute shoestring. Stormie paid his own travel from Australia, as did all of us. Red Bull gave us a hire car and hooked us up some ladders and the hotel we stayed at asked us to paint their wall and then they gave us a HUGE discount on our stay... The filmmakers and photographer came off their own backs. Really glad you liked the project, we're just finishing up the film at the moment.

TOP 5 ARTISTS 2009, by crazyarsemother on Oct 20, 2009 11:31:04 GMT 1, Hustle Hustle. No comment. I hate it.
Well done dude. I am really looking forward to the film. Did you do a drawing of the dead sheep in the bathroom? Sounds amazing (horrible but visually amazing).
I have made this film with a film maker (big favour on his part). Its to promote a little online show or collection of mono-prints that I just love doing. I hope you enjoy it.

TOP 5 ARTISTS 2009, by crazyarsemother on Oct 20, 2009 11:37:37 GMT 1, Thisis not screen printing -its reverse drawing mono printing using relief printing ink rolled out over a smooth surface, with paper laid over the top. Its a great technique but very hit and miss becauseyou can't see what you are drawing.

Didn't he die 20 years ago? I thought this was a "best of 2009" thread!? I would have chosen a very different 5 for an "of all time" thread.

I don't know about Dali in 2009, but one could say Picasso and be right on the money.
The Mosqueteros exhibit at Gagosian was the best show I've seen all year. Simply amazing.
My five for 2009 would be
1. Picasso 2. Cy Twombly 3. Ron Arad 4. KAWS 5. Mark Flood
and honorable mentions to Adel Abdessemed, Kehinde Wiley, Os Gemeos, Keith Haring(Ten Commandments ran into 2009), and a few more.
