Your Hit List 2009, by goffy on Dec 19, 2008 5:02:45 GMT 1, There is one thing that I have been after for years and maybe next year I will find it. What I am after is the Gered Mankowitz colour poster of Kate Bush in a pink top which was the promo poster for The Kick Inside. I once saw one on the Cash in the Attic show but suffice to say the guy kept it in his attic and it wasn't even mentioned regarding selling it. I want that poster more than Nola or Very Little Helps.

Your Hit List 2009, by jamesreeve5 on Dec 19, 2008 7:08:18 GMT 1, I'm going to say simply whatever I can get a steal of a deal on in this economy. I'm not planning on buying much new work. I am saving every penny for the blood bath that may be February's Dreweatts Urban Art Auction. I'm also purchasing whatever originals I'm finding people unloading on the bay that are by artists who haven't really developed a mature Ebay secondary market. I am looking for opportunities to buy pieces on the way down by Banksy, Dzama, Paul Insect, and possibly Micallef. If the list is who I think is going to have a strong year (that are mentioned on this board): Herakut, Matt Small, Logan Hicks, and Russ Mills. I also think that we're going to see a MAJOR drop in both the pound and the dollar relative to foreign currencies, and as such, expect to see a Renaissance of artists on the continent - particularly Jef, who I think is on the cusp of a stellar year - and see more continental group shows lead by established names - which I think could be just what the doctor ordered for Blek (the home run would be Blek doing a Paris show featuring collaboration canvases with more vogue British and American street artists) I also think that the currency collapse is going to mean a stronger market for artists that appeal to the Asian-Pacific sensibility - namely pop surrealists - expect to see David Choe, Audrey Kawasaki, and other Asian American artists marginally benefiting. In this veing, Mark Ryden is brilliant to be doing his next show in Japan (February). I expect to see more artists holding major shows in Asia - and certainly expect Laz to move less towards a permanent NY presence and possibly stage a group show in Asia or continental Europe - purely conjecture, but it would be the smart move for his business.
Dzama would be an excellent buy on the secondary market in 2009. I agree that we will see some more movement in Asia, but I think the strongest presence will be in Japan since the Yen will strengthen (not so much strengthen, but the rest of the world's currencies will fall closer to the Yen's levels). With that being said, Murakami, MR., Nara, and a few other Japanese will continue to perform well in the secondary market.

Your Hit List 2009, by funster on Dec 19, 2008 11:20:26 GMT 1, In 2009 and going to completely swap my collection around, almost all prints will be sold to make way for a few originals by Neate (3D), Parla (at the right price) and a few emerging artists. Have to say though that the currency exchange is really hurting my purchases that had already been lined up stateside.

Your Hit List 2009, by slowmo on Dec 19, 2008 11:35:56 GMT 1, I may be tempted into some original work from the improving roster of young upstarts on here. If an image truly grabs me by the more established (for established, insert expensive) then yes I will go for it.
I have an awful lot of stuff unframed. I think that next year I will get some of these framed and up, its like getting a new print when something gets hung on the walls and the queue is pretty long at the moment already.
I expect to sell a lot off hopefully at cost next year too. This may free up some money to have a look around more. I am also trying high and low to get a private view invite to the London art Fair as I strongly expect to see New York the morning after on sale at the Black rat press! How to blag an invite? Can anyone help me with that?

Maybe a josie mccoy canvas

a takashi murakami (but that will have to be a print)
oh and I have resolved to buy the american tan print by Gary Hume....

Your Hit List 2009, by buffin on Dec 19, 2008 12:09:22 GMT 1, Probably very little from this current scene, which in the main has become dull, repetitive and corrupt. Very disappointed that few artists have progressed this year. Adam Neate is a rare exception although way out of my price range. Have virtually given up on landing a Banksy these days. On a brighter note there are still some local (Bristol) artists keeping it real.

A Lucie would be nice. The American Tan is bloody beautiful mate, got one up at home and really really pleased with it.

Your Hit List 2009, by smallbylo on Dec 19, 2008 12:18:23 GMT 1, I'm so in love with Blu right now... That new pieces from the smart and talented man maybe will find a new home this year. Almost the same with Matt Small and... Mark Jenkins. (waiting for his "in construction" online store to get alive!)
I would like something from Other too, and I hope I will finally find one cheap unsigned faile Bunny Boy...
I'll be watching Supine, Btoy, Jr, San, Sam3, Limow, Remed, Elbow ... Ah! Somebody to stop me! My lists are always so long... Not yours?

Your Hit List 2009, by hlarmy on Dec 19, 2008 12:31:28 GMT 1, Given my limited budget to spend on art, I don't really have a hit list. I would like a Matt Small original and obviously any 2009 Banksy releases. I'd also like to pick up a TMA Bristol once NW prices have fallen to their pre-bubble level. Other than that, I hope to discover some more SPQR and Danny O'Connor's as value for money when buying from lesser known artists is so much higher before any hype sets in...

Yes
EDIT: my answer reflects the belief that he couldn't release anything that I would not like; I admit I'm not a big fan of Nola but would still have bought it at cost (although I certainly wouldn't pay much more than cost)

Good choice Mr Bong. I have both at the foot of my bed, can't see them enough. They also have the addition of tinsel at the moment.
