Biggest Progress in 2008?, by alsbabar on Dec 12, 2008 16:20:02 GMT 1, i would throw Grafter in the hat also Agreed - Grafter is a top bloke as well!
yeah but he is a Spurs supporter - so that acts a negative for me, but he did claw it back when he left a Weeping Angel canvas outside Arsenals' stadium as a tribute to Ben Kinsella, the poor boy who got stabbed to death not too long ago

Yeah, Silky. How could we forget! ;D But I suppose if my nephew were a street artist, I'd be promoting his work to.

Biggest Progress in 2008?, by schlomo on Dec 12, 2008 16:31:27 GMT 1, I would have to say its Sickboy for me, but not a big surprise as i really like all his work. I think his show was (apart from the monkey bouncer i mentioned in another thread) the best work i had seen all year. Banksy has obviously stepped it up a bit, but good to see the likes of SB, Eelus and Eine all stepping up aswell. Been a great year actually, looking forward to the next one!

Biggest Progress in 2008?, by twist65 on Dec 12, 2008 17:02:03 GMT 1, not adding anything new here but I agree about Eelus - obviously put a lot of hard work in and deserves all the credit he's been getting for his latest pieces. Prefab also coming along nicely but one for next year. Herakut has totally blown me away but is admittedly all new to me so I don't have a reference point for comparisons!

Biggest Progress in 2008?, by robinbanks on Dec 12, 2008 17:29:56 GMT 1, A few of these have been mentioned already but for me, in no particular order...
Vhils - stole the show at Cans, produced a knockout print with POW and was responsible for some of the most original work I've seen this year.
Russ Mills (Byroglyphics) - a little tip-off from Copyright in the £50 thread ended up with this guy being signed up by Red Propeller. Expecting big things.
Miss Bugs - Forget the hype, their work is shit-hot. End of.
Rourke - really impressed with how this guy is honing his talent. If there's one artist on this board I want to succeed it's him. Top bloke.

Biggest Progress in 2008?, by maadbeats on Dec 12, 2008 17:30:31 GMT 1, I say Herakut was a big winner. Love Dains work over the past year. Jose Parla IMO was the biggest. Made major headway with the addition of more vibrant colors in his work. I was lucky enough to sit down with the man about a month ago in his studio to talk about his new direction. Got to see the progression of his work over the past 20 years. Needless to say it was a blast, top notch gentlemen. Parla is the shit

Biggest Progress in 2008?, by smallbylo on Dec 12, 2008 19:18:54 GMT 1, For me, Banksy made the biggest evol with petstore (Remember when we were frightened about the end of prints?) but as this man is always one step above and he don’t need my votes… I vote for Elbow Toe (Brian Adam Douglas now…) for his new and stunning style and JR for his new use of scale and location...
Great developing too but less progress… Faile, Blu, Parlá, C215, Mark Jenkins … Great progress cause new names (almost for me) Judith Supine, Vhils, Btoy.
Big progress of 2009? Matt small?
Lists, what a great sport!

I also think that Grafter has been continually improving and has developed over the last year, I hope he gets the success he deserves.

Biggest Progress in 2008?, by origo on Dec 13, 2008 0:10:56 GMT 1, I think Elbow-Toe´s work has taken a serious progress, the latest pieces is mindblowing and they must look stunning in person.
Other than that I think that Herakut´s latest show were a step up, they really nailed it with that one. Other than that, Neate, JR, Herbert Baglione.

Biggest Progress in 2008?, by meatbag on Dec 13, 2008 0:26:39 GMT 1, Hands down Shepard Fairey. I can't think of anyone who's created a piece of art that has become so globally recognized. He's created an unprecedented contribution to any presidential campaign, landed a huge 20 year retrospective, and 2 museums including the Smithsonian Institute purchased work for their permanent collection. Not a bad year.
