Cancer Sell Charity Art Sale, by gm on Jul 31, 2008 23:30:22 GMT 1, I only lasted an hour there - the heat was unbearable, and I was sweating faster than I could drink so...
Bought a nice little piece from off the wall before I left- "Convergence" by Brad Shimmin. I've never heard of him before, but I'll be making an effort to find out more. I'll take a photo of it tomorrow* (my camera only works properly in daylight).
Big Respect to all the organisers, artists and punters. Hope it all went well for the rest of the night
Edit: No need to take a photo - it's on Flickr:

Cancer Sell Charity Art Sale, by Grafter on Aug 1, 2008 0:41:48 GMT 1, What a wicked night.... It was hot, but hey, that's what the beers for.
Was great to meet so many people and by the comments I received the show went down well with everyone. The standard of work for sale and on the walls was way up there with any of the shows I've been to in the past year.
Am over the moon with my purchases as I managed to bag a Blam 'oscar the grouch' canvas (Total iconic Shoreditch piece of street art) and a Snub23 hammerhead on steel sheet. Had to wait for Kelly to blow the whistle and give everyone 2 minutes to buy anything at half price but came away with 2 great pieces for an incredible price.
Massive thanks and well done to Kelly, Debbie and all the gang who managed to put on a truly great night and raise a staggering amount for a worthy cause. THIS WAS WHAT THIS SCENE IS ALL ABOUT, AND A WONDERFUL THING TO BE INVOLVED WITH. Can't wait for the next one...
They even managed to sell the bar that we all painted on to a film company that wanted to use it as a prop.....

Cancer Sell Charity Art Sale, by HowAboutNo on Aug 1, 2008 1:15:58 GMT 1, ^Grafter really did say it all up there, cheers mate It was all down to Kelly, Debbie and the amazing supporting cast and crew, prfimarily all the artists for donating the pieces in the first place, then all the extra help and creating that went on inside the space to make it look so good - walls and hanging, quality of works on show was second to none.
Big thanks To Misled and her crew for painting live in such heat, but as you also said G the beer helped...a little
Cool news about the bar!

Cancer Sell Charity Art Sale, by Prescription Art on Aug 1, 2008 2:30:48 GMT 1, A lot of people obviously put a lot of work into this evening.... well done to all of you & hope you raised a healthy lot of cash monies.
I picked up a nice Skewville piece for a nice price, which i'm well pleased with. I can't afford to sweat off any more weight though, so if you could turn the heat down next time it'd be nice!

Cancer Sell Charity Art Sale, by HowAboutNo on Aug 7, 2008 23:52:01 GMT 1, Spill the beans then fatherxmas!!
Sorry, here are some pics of the night for those that missed it. An amazing night, loads of people showed up for it and the total so far raised is just short of ยฃ9,000
Miss Led, Tobe, Mr Gauky & TWIY live drawing....these sold for ยฃ70 a pop!
As for final prices, am not so sure the De Feo went for ยฃ250. The reserve prices were in place for a reason!
Some of the other pieces outside the auction were set a bit high, others a bit too low, but it created a bit of a buzz and did what was intended, to put on a good show, repay people for bothering to show up, whilst also making a wedge for charity.
Not ยฃ50 a piece...ยฃ50 the lot!
The remaining donations are all in the process of being put up on a website to be sold and money will continue to be donated. Hopefully Kelly and all others who helped make this one happen will be up for putting on an even better show next time out....but for this time round like I said before, this was easily the best "group show" and for quality of art on walls, divesity of things going on in the space, it beats any I have seen this year!

Cancer Sell Charity Art Sale, by HowAboutNo on Aug 8, 2008 9:30:25 GMT 1, Am not sure as of yet, whichever way we can get the most money to charities really being the priority.
Will give a heads up as soon as I know anything.

Cancer Sell Charity Art Sale, by HowAboutNo on Aug 8, 2008 14:43:36 GMT 1, That got won in the raffle unfortunately, painted by Fark... well, not unfortunately for the person that won it as they got it for the grand total of a ยฃ20 raffle ticket more than likely...unless like me they spent ยฃ100 on them!
Have just been told that the offer for the vinyl toys cabinet has fallen through, if anyone is interested please contact me via PM...all sensible offers considered. All painted in situ by Fark.
