Oh no!!!, by Heavyconsumer on Jul 29, 2008 19:23:57 GMT 1, Doh!!! Now that's having a pretty bad day, but at least no-one was injured or killed YET! ;D - Your friend's friend can always reprint as long as you allow him/her the time to get it done nicely and cover the cost of printing/binding, there doesn't need to be bad blood over something superficial, you have a dog,s**t happens!. Shame about the prints! I'd be devastated. At least you can enjoy buying all the new ones you like now and you'll be able to hang them straight away.

Oh no!!!, by curiousgeorge on Jul 29, 2008 20:25:51 GMT 1, Time for a fire/flood damage sale
Jokes aside i would not panic just yet, with some luck and patience maybe 3 months from now, you can have them all in frames in perfect-ish condition and look back and laugh

Dont think its sank in yet, but i did tell my mate about the dissertation and fortunately i was in a bad enough mood so he wasnt going to risk pushing my buttons on the subject. Sold my car today though which is a bonus i suppose, more money for the gallery anyway ;D

Oh no!!!, by gm on Jul 29, 2008 22:32:46 GMT 1, Bloody Hell! That's some damage
I've got a friend who sometimes puts the pictures she's making under the shower and they always dry so you'd never know they'd even been damp. I'll ask her if she has any advice.

Oh no!!!, by weeble on Jul 29, 2008 22:44:43 GMT 1, Dude. That is a total nightmare. Sorry to see that's happened to you. Wouldn't worry about the dissertation - come clean, he probably ripped it off the web anyway But as for the prints... home contents insurance might cover it?

Oh no!!!, by low3 on Jul 30, 2008 0:47:50 GMT 1, That really does suck a lot of dick!!!
I'm gutted for you. just keep them all separate so they don't lose any colour onto each other, and dry them slowly so they don't go too crispy. they should be recoverable (most of them anyway), but do it slowly or they will get ruined.
That said, if i ever see you out anywhere i'll be giving you a wide berth. with your luck anything could happen......

Oh no!!!, by gm on Jul 30, 2008 12:20:44 GMT 1, I've got a friend who sometimes puts the pictures she's making under the shower and they always dry so you'd never know they'd even been damp. I'll ask her if she has any advice.
She says it depends on the paper, but she'd dampen them, put them between 'acid-free tissue paper' (separately) and put weight on them. Of course the paper she uses is always chosen deliberately to take a lot of wetness coz she paints with very wet water colour.
By no means any guarantees tho, esp if the paper's already 'cockled' - gone wobbly.
She's not overly hopeful.
