Grannies - strongest first, by slowmo on May 16, 2008 22:41:34 GMT 1, Banksy released grannies first. It was also his first print you had to have to fight over when released. People think its weak, I argue it's easily one of his best prints. He was an artist who didnt sell out instantly, hell no one did pre the LA show.
So did banksy think it was his best print of the LA series? Why doesn't this get more love? Maybe its just me who thinks the pink puts it on another level to 99.9% of things released before or since. Please discuss

Please discuss Not the strongest piece from the LA set, but the closest to his previous / more simple style. A bridging piece to appease older fan and a good transition to the more graphic and less stencilistic applause, morons etc.. Trolleys was always going to be the highlight due to the age of the image ( on his site 2 years+ before becoming a print). The 2 prints from the series were festival and grannies, and it could have been either. Sale ends is similar in style to earlier work also, but it would seem logical where that is going to fit into the grand scheme of things. IMO. Grannies is one of the stronger LA prints IMO, as morons and applause do little for me personally and lack the more thoughtfull humour of other pieces.

Grannies - strongest first, by manchestermike on May 16, 2008 23:11:10 GMT 1, It's up there in the LA set with Morons and Applause for me. I'd also say it's one of his best pieces full stop.

Grannies - strongest first, by weeble on May 17, 2008 17:59:36 GMT 1, I wasn't sure about Grannies on release, I just thought the subject matter a bit dull. But on reflection, I think it marked the end of an era as well as a turning point for the artist, making Grannies a significant piece in his career. He is exploring many more interesting ideas now. But Grannies sits well within the early era of classics like Jack and Jill and Smiley Copper. For me, Morons seems to be the one that seems to change direction a little bit, and I see Grannies as a fitting finale to a series of iconic pieces. I think B's pieces come in rounds. Weston and Bomb sit together extremely well. J&J, Laugh Now and Grannies also have a synergy that I think we might not see again. In short - Grannies = classic!
