site well and truly hijacked along with his database. i got 2 emails and have bought stuff twice from the site. If names and emails are not secure then that raises the question of bank detail security...

...its almost like the art police or something, if someone becomes to popular is not hip no more or something... cant see how anyone can judge and start calling people they dont even know a sell out...
every artist i am sure does private commission pieces aswell... just because you dont hear about it doesnt mean they dont do it... and how is it d* gets blame for someone hacking his site? for someone else who gathers information from database and then starts sending out there own pointless emails? if anyone should be getting the blame it is the people that hacked the site not him getting on in his life working each day... everyone agree is entitled to there own opinion , you have obviously stated yours and i have stated mine... nite...s

got this email!!, by thesewalls on May 5, 2008 6:16:19 GMT 1, sahoria - agreed! i got the email, read it in full, checked out the defaced site, read the bull...who the hell do these people think they are? it reminds me of when graffiti artists started showing in gallerys...a time when 'street art' meant exacty that: graffiti...the words 'wheatpaste' and 'stencil' weren't on the scene yet...anyway, they were getting heat from the more 'hardcore' graf heads for 'selling out'. the art belonged on the street people claimed...the cultural significance was being lost in the transition...taken out if it's natural habitat, graffiti wasn't the same thing - a piece looked and felt different in the street vs. the gallery. even more so, by selling these pieces, the culture - one of a strong identity and hardknock values - was being commodified. whether or not they sold out is of course only a matter of opinion. i personally do not think they did. selling out is more of a feeling one gets than an attribute...a phrase thrown around for better or worse...it's become cli-che to 'sell out'. i think they even say he 'officially' sold out, right? officially sold out. think about that. now take a step back. are you my judge? it's all been done before...everything! D* has done no harm to anyone, nor anything...i suppose it's just that some critics voices are louder than others. solid prank there, just a bit militant art nazi like...just a bit. ok that's my 2 cents.

got this email!!, by bobbymeachamjr on May 5, 2008 6:36:50 GMT 1, I don't follow d*face on a regular basis as I don't think hes offering much creatively. Nevertheless, art is the creative expression of your innermost self. If you're making supposed political statements with your "art" but really live differently- Then your art is bulls*hit. Its doing anti-corporate themes because its a trendy thing to do. Its no different than record labels using/abusing "punk rock" to make money. This is not art to me because its superficial. On top of that, he basically crapped on his most loyal fanbase, people who supported him when he was a nobody. Hey if all this doesn't bother you one bit... Cheers!

My ex missus (who knows her stuff about Banksy) went round to a blokes house in Bristol to collect a car part and up on his wall was a comission from Banksy. A huge canvas of a monkey blowing up a banana.
He said he had it done years ago as a present for his wife, it was signed Happy Birfday Get Pissed Banksy with the old anarchy signature.
Apparently he didn't like it anymore and would have chucked it out by now if the wife didn't like it

Couldn't care less about it to be honest though, I am only in the market for prints from these guys, so its no biggie to me. Good luck to him as he needs to make a living

Like todays top 40 bubble gum punk rockers - no soul. If you don't mind that an image has no sincerity behind it then so be it. If you'll settle for "he has to feed his kids", or "anybody would kiss a*ss to a celebrity" then what can I say? Its your money after all.
If you don't mind getting crapped on while providing his main source of revenue (prints etc), and having said artist kiss a*ss to some c*unt from the US and not even acknowledge your existence then so be it. Take pride in the artist you collect and support and when they crap on you to at least re-evaluate that artist. Other street artists might do this but d*face got caught. You get caught cheating on your wife - "well, every man would cheat!" doesn't really work - does it?

got this email!!, by GD303uk on May 5, 2008 14:40:52 GMT 1, I think the fact that Hollywood types are noticing D and buying his work is a good sign regardless of the circumstances on how they get dface pieces, people with lots of cash in the limelight buying ds work is the next step in any artists carrier, I can understand people being pissed off with the fact emails are not returned and commissions not done, accept if your a celabโ, but if we look at it like a business which unfortunately thatโs what it is, D has moved upwards, next brad pitt and his Mrs. will be buying and maybe a Gordon brown piece for the next general election It is all good news for D and his work. Ideabolo will get a nice return on Ds work as a result of D becoming more popular, as will any body else who wants to sell, this hacker stunt has only illustrated what has been there all a long, there are at least 2 camps in the graff world and the artists on the streets doing there work with little recognition, signed to no print houses etc, and the other camp with artist who are signed up to sell prints etc, The graff war between them has always been there with one camp calling the other sell outs, This has probably happened to all art movements, throughout time, where art and artist where outside the norm had blazed a new or different trail, are shunned by their peers once mainstream accept them and their work, I really believe this hacking episode is just that, itโs a sign D is moving up and getting accepted by a wider audience which we are not part of, but that is not to say we donโt matter, Itโs just the way fame and success is, to get on and move up in any carrier you have to push yourself to new groups in order to progress, If d was only recognized by us his originals would still be less than ยฃ500 and there would be no new fans to drive his carrier or market (I hate using money speak) But if I was D I would be pissed of about the hack but in the long run he would know he is moving forward towards the next phase of his carrier. onwards and upwards, christena if your reading this i have a nice HRH you can have for ยฃ100000 only joking you would need to do that dirty track live in my living room as well
peace all

got this email!!, by sahoria on May 5, 2008 14:51:30 GMT 1, think we all agree everyone has there own opinion about this... you have yours others have theres... heard the same thing for hip hop artists when they first started off also... oh they sold out because they are now doing private parties when they used to stand on the streets doing it...
your opinion no sincerity to his pieces others will disagree... he gets so many emails per day he cant possibly answer all of them wouldnt get no work done if he did... you ever got email back directly from banksy/micallef etc???
how has he got caught...this is what one person posted up on the site saying this is what happened and everyone believes... like a tabloid newspaper everyone reads and then believes everything written! sure alot was left out from the original conversation...sure words was changed also...
this whole getting caught thing is just funny... he is doing commission piece so what... he is artist... generally once in a while artists do commission pieces for clients... obviously if it is something that can further his career he would do it... he hasnt pushed up his prices so high after bonhams neither... he keeps it low so most people can still get his work... after this year that will change i am sure and then no doubt people will again say sell out look how much he is charging now... just be happy for the man that he is getting success... you obviously have every right to give your opinion about this though but without knowing the people calling them c**ts and sh**face thing is out of order but that is my opinion and others no doubt will find it funny what you have written....
but atleast we can agree to disagree... take care enjoy your bank holiday....s
