Three signed prints for sale, by Deleted on Jun 15, 2007 19:00:09 GMT 1, Now I understand it...
Excellent reply Bombhugger.
I bow to a quicker brain than mine.
To those who have mailed me: thanks for the offers and I know the prices seem crazily high, they are, but that is what the market is asking for at the moment.
I saw IFTL for 14k on a website yesterday and Kate for 37K.
37K!!!
I feel a bit of a sh#t asking for this kind of money, but at the same time kinda feel that I shouldn't do as that is what the prints are worth.
If you get what I mean....

Three signed prints for sale, by dgb133 on Jun 15, 2007 20:24:27 GMT 1, I get what you mean, but you have to balance dare I say greed with reallity. Those places that list things for those kinds of ridiculous prices also have the financial power to sit on that inventory for years until it sells if they have to. They also have a load of overhead and they also often times provide resources and knowledge to collectors and sometimes helpfully build the careers of other artist while in business. They often are patrons to the art world. So 100% of that money does not go right in their pocket.
And I know some bookstores who have some rare books listed for $500 for example but when a private seller lists it on the bay they often sell for only $100-200.
I like that this board is here, but I kind of feel like unless you're willing to offer a "deal" here I think it's best to suck it up and put it on ebay or consign it with a gallery. Then see what the market brings. Unless you're willing to sit on it for a long time?

I'd be shocked if someone bought them off your for the highest gallery price you've found on the web. If I were you, I'd just put them on Ebay.

Three signed prints for sale, by corblimeylimey on Jun 15, 2007 22:21:31 GMT 1, If you got a gallery to sell your prints you'd only receive around 65%ish of their asking price, and if you put them on ebay you wouldn't get gallery prices either.

Three signed prints for sale, by mickg on Jun 16, 2007 1:48:33 GMT 1, To be honest I find it insulting that you are asking forum members to pay those kind of prices. Go to ebay & good luck with it.

Three signed prints for sale, by dave313perry on Jun 16, 2007 3:12:00 GMT 1, To be fair im not going to criticise you on your prices, dont think your far off with the HMV and IFTL. 5k is reasonable and if your open to offers then fair enough! dont think you deserve any slack from what iv seen, maybe your soup can valuation is a lttle high but its very hard to value being lmtd /10! ( duno about provenance tough?) good luck with your sales, and i think who ever picks up your hmv or iftl for under 5k has got a good deal!
I need to stop with my alcoholism! i hpe that made sense!! cheers

Three signed prints for sale, by Deleted on Jun 16, 2007 23:03:38 GMT 1, Thanks for all comments.
Very honest and fair.
Just to clear up a point: I am not asking for the prices I quoted the galleries as asking for them.
I put as a price (sterling):
IFTL 5K HMV 5K
Soapcan 10K
I think they first 2 prices are pretty fair, the soapcan price seems like sh#itloads to me, but when you compare it with kate for 38K it is not much.
And in my opinion soapcan is a much better image: a pastiche of a homage, or a pisstake of a pisstake, or whatever you want to call it.
For me Kate is a photoshop whipped out in a couple of minutes.
I may get flayed for saying that but....
Thanks for all comments.
