TV show - Graffiti Wars, by Pure Evil on Aug 16, 2011 10:46:13 GMT 1, One bit in the film thats completely WRONG is when it says
"This gallery [pure evil gallery] helped to establish Banksy as a selling artist'
Thats complete Bollocks... I wouldn't even be running the gallery if POW hadn't put out my first print and helped me out by giving me work at Santas Ghetto when I got kicked out of the USA...AND gave me a nice spot at the CANS festival.. I could go on....
To suggest that Pure Evil Gallery 'helped to establish Banksy' is just nonsense... utter claptrap.

Is it me or did eine and robbo came across as criticising something they are and wanted to become, eine especially seemed very critical robbo just sounded out of depth.
What is it graff writers despise or is it jealousy.
Don't attack decent views please as i may be missing something

TV show - Graffiti Wars, by rottenredrooster on Aug 16, 2011 23:26:24 GMT 1, got to love this place, I'm no Robbo apologist nor blinkered Banksy fan, a few of you should watch that show again and read between the lines a little more. Robbo's hardly a bully for giving some mouthy lad a slap - maybe some of you just haven't been drinking in the east end? Seeing as PE's known to Banksy and Pow's not that far away it doesn't take a great leap in logic to assume word on the show and what was in it would have got to Banksy, although as stated above that wasn't Jo. Also Banksy did comment in the show a couple of times, he should have thought about what he said more though, rather than do some more throwaway lines - it does him no favours. Maybe it's time to be the bigger man while Robbo's in hospital?
Do you mean the east end of Glasgow?
I lived there up until the late 80s and then moved down south to Bethnal Green. Getting slapped in East London was like being tickled where I come from. The hardest thing about the east end of London is having to listen to how hard they think they are.

TV show - Graffiti Wars, by moleman on Aug 17, 2011 0:29:36 GMT 1, Very blunt but yes
Blek has always enjoyed riding behind banksy story and banksy has always promoted Blek etc which is fair. Hundreds of artist do similar work all the time. Eine went on about Graf writers while cutting a stencil and selling all over the world, to me he seemed described as above. Mr Brainwash ( from another thread) seemed like a experiment gone wrong and he can't be brought into this conversation.
Robbo went on about banksy being a stencil artist ( check out the Bristol show for opposing arguments to that) and went on about him being a sell out, then having a show.
If any artist who wants to make money doing what they love has any chance to do just that if that be is on banksys back or not they will think about it.
One thing that has stood head and shoulders above anything to me is that with the right money and friends talent is not a necessity

p.s. robbo totally missed the basic hypocrisy in what he was doing having a show etc
but as i stated elsewhere Robbo lying in an induced coma puts this matter to shame now, it's time for reciminations etc to end

TV show - Graffiti Wars, by nrgball on Aug 17, 2011 4:37:12 GMT 1, Robbo did say"Thanks Mr. B" even if it was snide. He knows that his little war with Banksy help propel him right into the lime light (again). I wouldn't be surprised if Banksy himself bought some of Robbo's work. In any case, I hope Robbo pulls out of the coma. The guys got talent and a little media war between the two would elevate street art to the next level.

Funny really innit, most of those who say stupid things about being slapped, arent actually from London, they seem to be mostly from Glasgow!!!

Why did he have to break in to do the TopCat piece? You just stroll down the public footpath and canoe across.
It is strange that the program is about a "war", but half the pieces done during the war seem to be done for the benefit of the program/during its filming!

wasn't it produced by Jamie D'Cruz, Banksy's mate and producer behind ETTGS ?
