SWAP A GRANNIE FOR????? , by numusic on Nov 2, 2006 9:09:29 GMT 1, So the dude picked up a couple of prints and made a BS story about his girlfriend coincidently buying him a print for xmas. Who cares if it was premeditated . It's a way of hopefully getting the print he wants but can't afford the prices being pushed on the auctions. I would like to be in his position now. Let's face it, the only reason we complain is because we are jealous. As for buying and selling prints, this forum wouldn't exist if people didn't continually put the Banksy brand up for sale. The Banksy brand is becoming mainstream and it will become even harder to pick up the prints we really want. Anyways, I got my grannie in the post today and I think it's s**t. Quite dissapointed.
why did you buy it then ? there were enough images of it around before the sale. I agree, it's not his best work.. but then again, I didnt just spank 200 quid on one.

Sorry you feel that way buddy, I got mine the other day and I think it's class. But I'll also echo the offer of taking the other off you, I know someone that missed out and would be made up if they got one...

SWAP A GRANNIE FOR????? , by tomjedimaster on Nov 2, 2006 20:47:12 GMT 1, I buy a reasonable amount of prints because i'm addicted to them. Some look way better up close in real life and some look crap. Like the chewbarber, the image cracked me up when i saw it on Eelus's site. but when i rolled it out onto my table...needless to say it made my mom's ass look attractive, so i got rid of it and it paid for a few cauty prints. Where as i absolutley loved the toxic mary when i first saw it up close and it's still my favourite of his. The pictures from the net do not do it justice in my opinion.
I picked up the grannies hoping that it would be a print that could live on one of my walls. But at the same time, i knew that if i didn't like it i could probably get rid of it and help me fund one of the banksy prints that i really want but can't afford. or trade it for an equivalent that i'd prefer to have, or give it to my brother for xmas.

SWAP A GRANNIE FOR????? , by boast on Nov 3, 2006 13:41:50 GMT 1, TOMJEDIMASTER is subliminally giving you all a massive clue here... the Banksy 'market' is starting to bubble. People buying them even if they don't like them, just because they 'know' they can sell them on for a profit ... From my experience we will now see a huge accelaration of prices as the bubble grows rapidly followed by the bursting of the bubble where fear (of losing money) overtakes Greed.
My advice is: if you can't afford to lose £100-£150 then just buy the art you like... if that amount of money is of no concequence to you then fill your boots!

SWAP A GRANNIE FOR????? , by gm on Nov 3, 2006 14:44:15 GMT 1, Dunno about swaps, but I recently had to sell one. The buyer came round my house to pick it up. If at some point in the future he finds out it's a moody one, well, he knows where I live.
But he won't, cos it isn't, and I hope it brings him much joy.

SWAP A GRANNIE FOR????? , by tomjedimaster on Nov 3, 2006 18:58:54 GMT 1, I think i'd prefer a pimped out Tesco trolley...
By the way, do you guys know if these prints that are coming out are all part of the same LA show run? is there a full set of prints for the LA show and then another full set for the UK? or did they just split the 500 off?

I've done a few transactions here, and it's gone very smoothly. Done swaps with Silky, martin (aka mido), HowAboutNo, and ratpack, and they're 1001% trustworthy. Really nice people too Bought a print from JesusWasAnApe, he's top-notch as well.
I guess you just have to do a little research about the member you're dealing with before you jump into anything. But you're right, the potential for rip-off is really high. If you're buying a print, you could send your payment and the seller might not do anything, and you're royally screwed. We should have a feedback rating like on eBay or something, but I guess that's too much trouble

That question's been answered a couple of times buddy, and the answer is the 500 are the same run as the LA show. The 150 are not.

Yeah, If your doing a swap with member on this forum your best bet is to do a deal with someone that has posted on here for a long time and is respected by the other members. Also make posts saying what deal you have done, who with, and how it went if it goes wrong and a member has deliberately diddled you, I will ban them
