Dreweatts first-ever timed Online Urban Ed. Sale, by craigf on Dec 6, 2011 16:47:51 GMT 1, I managed to inadvertently buy something....
Won't say what piece, but an artist I don't normally collect, had a cheeky bid and then although someone matched my bid there wasn't a higher one! On paper its a good buy and its a piece I like, but I really should be more careful!

Dreweatts first-ever timed Online Urban Ed. Sale, by Deleted on Dec 6, 2011 22:20:31 GMT 1, i tried to bid and would have been the highest bidder on the Neate TWC. But for some reason I wasnt able to on my phone and so missed out. I really didn't plan to bid on anything, but couldn't help myself. Did anyone else have similar problems?. you should have your invoice by now!
Further to your successful bids at our online auction via I-Bidder yesterday, please find attached a copy of your invoice (a hard copy of which has been posted to you today).
Payment to be received within 3 working days please by debit / credit card (3% surcharge added for credit card, no charge for debit card) or by bank transfer (bank details are on the bottom of the invoice).
Your Lots will be posted out once payment has been received.

Dreweatts first-ever timed Online Urban Ed. Sale, by Phear Loathing on Dec 8, 2011 16:01:17 GMT 1, I did get the invoice.. Just didn't know how to proceed from there. Couldn't transfer from my US bank.
They told me to call and I got it sorted over the phone..
Wish I would have asked about the framing of the piece before I bid.... I asked about it after and this was the response I got
"The frame is in good condition, black frame with glass and acid free materials but it has been opened up at the back and will need to be looked at by a professional framers to be redone."
wtf does that mean lol?
Hopefully the back just needs to be papered up again and that is all.. I fear I may need to do more..

Dreweatts first-ever timed Online Urban Ed. Sale, by johnnyh on Dec 8, 2011 16:09:35 GMT 1, Phearlothing. Be careful if you are shipping. 1) frames cost a lot to ship so get a photo see if you want it. 2) this very important often the glass can crack during shipping and then damage your prints. So either use a top shipper or get it taken out of the frame.

Dreweatts first-ever timed Online Urban Ed. Sale, by Phear Loathing on Dec 8, 2011 16:27:07 GMT 1, Well what they quoted me and what I paid wasn't terrible for shipping it framed....
I just emailed them for them to take out the glass. I guess I just assumed they would ship it well..
Guess I need to quit making assumptions here huh... yikes.

Dreweatts first-ever timed Online Urban Ed. Sale, by johnnyh on Dec 8, 2011 18:16:07 GMT 1, Yes it's a tough one. The other way to solve is to put like a British flag of tape across the glass. That way if it cracks - less likely with the tape on any way but also much harder to damage the print if it cracks
So as it's flags and a quirky print this may be the route

Dreweatts first-ever timed Online Urban Ed. Sale, by Phear Loathing on Dec 9, 2011 8:06:47 GMT 1, They don't seem to be open to suggestions, which kind of pisses me off. I get it, not the most value work of art in the world, but damn it would be nice to be somewhat open..
They basically told me.. we ship with glass and frame and all, like you paid for or we take it out and just ship you the print....
Not sure what to choose.

I get it, not the most value work of art in the world, but damn it would be nice to be somewhat open.. They basically told me.. we ship with glass and frame and all, like you paid for or we take it out and just ship you the print.... Not sure what to choose. If you have paid for insured delivery I would get it sent framed with glass. Some couriers don't insure art framed with glass but it is the sellers (auction house) responsibility to get your goods to you in one piece. If it does not arrive with you in the condition stated then they must refund you. Just pay using your credit card so you get protection.
Actually Kimble you are wrong on this account. If you organise shipping, then the liability lies entirely with the shipper, as they were contracted by you and not the auction house. Thus any transit damage is not the fault of the house.
This is why auction houses do not offer shipping as a service. Rather they will give you multiple options for carriers who you employ.
Therefore it's vital that as the purchaser you are very specific on your insurance needs.
