Winners Announced!, by Mister Frame Man on Apr 23, 2012 22:17:28 GMT 1, Thanks so much for everyone's support over the last few weeks!
I was disappointed with my time, but hearing the news and reading more about Claire's story puts everything into perspective!
Seeing the reaction for Claire from the British public should remind us all that despite what we hear from day to day, this country and it's people are not all that bad!
RIP

I certainly don't mind asking Vincent Brown. i am guessing that he would be the most appropriate. Does anyone know anyone in the womens family?. obviously a very delecate subject. i certainly wouldn't want any commission. But Vince is always busy and not sure how he would feel about doing the painting. I know he likes to take he's own photos to work from. If anyone knows someone from the family PM me and I and I can see if we can work something out. I am sure Vince would do it for a fair price. But as he has so much on the go I wouldn't be able to ask him to do it for nothing. But he'll do the best price he can, if he wants to do it. I would imagine it would be a very difficult thing to do. Anyway let me know and maybe we could get the ball rolling.

Winners Announced!, by Coach on Apr 24, 2012 22:06:52 GMT 1, I think this is a great idea. Happy to help in any way I can. Slammer, no suggestion VB or any other artist should do it for free. I think the general idea is that some people on here that want to, chip in together to buy the painting. I would have thought it might be best to have the collection of contributions before deciding on an artist, so that the budget is clear. If sufficient funds, I agree with you slammer that VB would be a great choice. But so would one of the other artists on your site - cant remember her name of the top of my head though. I would suggest that promises of a contribution aren't the way to work out how much has been collected, but rather receipt of funds. Sorry to be sounding so practical regarding such a tragedy. But these things will need to be thought about. Mfm, very generous fella.

Winners Announced!, by bullet on Apr 24, 2012 22:38:49 GMT 1, This is a good cause and agree with everything here.
However, i do think the newspapers... Particularly the online editions are really milking this now. Its like an ongoing commentary of money. Every hour they update it with the new amount and it is becoming more about the people donating than it is about the poor girl who collapsed.
Quotes from richard branson et al. They need to leave the story alone now or take the money out of it at least. The press in this country really are slime

Winners Announced!, by Coach on Apr 24, 2012 22:51:15 GMT 1, If we are doing this, a few other practical thoughts. I personally think that a good while must be left before anyone tries to contact the family about this. A concensus would have to be reached as to what happens to the money if the family refuse or can't be contacted. Returning the money would be difficult. Charity? Heart foundation maybe? In the circumstances. I think (without wishing to inpeed upon free speech) that we need to be aware when posting about this that someone is likely to have to link this thread to the family. Otherwise asking for a copy of their fave pic is going to sound very odd. Just my 2p worth.
