Cheers fella. It does. Glass needs to be lit well for full effect, they go hand in hand. Does make all the difference.

Rosa&Jim, by saint on May 22, 2012 13:26:38 GMT 1, Jimmy, just seen your post mate.
Not sure what has happened, but as far as i'm concerned these are yours and this Layne guy has copied you ridiculously. How you can be so calm about it is unknown to me, i'd take him to task.
I love my grenade, and as soon as it is in place i will post pics. Anyone interested in the grenades (or the bullets, which are also great), should view Jimmy's as being the authentic originals IMO.
Sounds like this Layne guy is a right plum mate, sorry you have had to suffer his nonsense.

Cheers saint. Your not wrong, this is my work which came from my personal thoughts and thinking regarding the military. I donยดt see the point in getting bitter and twisted about things, thats not going to solve anything. What I have to do is carry on producing them and move onto the next project and idea.
Thanks for the comment, you know what original means. unlike some on here

Without a doubt, very talented craftsman. Iยดm not going to say Artist, cos an Artist has their own ideas. Every piece he has produced and toured with are my ideas with drawing submitted over a pint and a gentlemanยดs agreement.
If you check out my first post on this thread you will see among the mushrooms a chandelier. This is how it should have looked with the bullets creating the light tips. It should have been done with coloured glass and fiber optics producing the light source. A major fail IMO.
Thanks for the comment Natas.

Rosa&Jim, by Deleted on May 23, 2012 2:20:42 GMT 1, I've loved Jimmy's work ever since I first saw it at Mutate's One Foot In The Grove. His glass grenades and bullets are simply stunning and I love the originality of his work and the sentiments behind it, especially knowing that the inspiration for the work comes from such a personal place. So sorry to hear that someone else is passing off his work as their own, that's just not right.

I commented a couple of pages ago on the fact it was cool to see you guys just creating for the right reasons and this just re enforces that thought. Good luck to you mate good karma follows. As for him what goes around comes around and bad karma also follows

Cheers johnny, your a gent that talks a lot of sense. Funny enough I do think that being copied is a compliment of some sort. And you can always turn a negative into a positive with a little hard work and perseverance. Iยดm not going away, he would very much like me to but its not going to happen.
Thereยดs a few of his people on here, that have been trying to discredit me. In an underhand way, of course. Iยดm not going to mention any names cos its not my style. Iยดm just going to get my head down and work.
Best!!

Rosa&Jim, by Deleted on May 23, 2012 17:28:32 GMT 1, F*** me! Just had a look at the work produced by Layne Rowe - that's all your work Jim. That's scandalous!
I remember a few years ago meeting Jimmy - after my wife had pursuaded him to part with one of his grenades displayed at 'One Foot In The Grove' - and talking about why he wasn't producing more of these, particularly as demand was clearly there. Jimmy mentioned then how he'd been stitched up by someone. ( At this point he didn't mention names ).
What I didn't fully appreciate then was the exact depth of plagiarism ( if that's the right phrase in this case ).
Having now seen this work Jimmy, I can understand your frustration and what you said falls into place. I will complement you on the calmness with which you've dealt with this, and politely retold the story of being shafted to colleagues of mine or my wife. I doubt if I would have remained as calm as you.
That bit at the bottom of the site 'copyright@LayneRowe 2011' is taking the p***.
If anyone here isn't sure, have a look at Jim's first post, and compare that to the work seen here: www.layneroweglass.co.uk/gallery3.html

Rosa&Jim, by Coach on May 23, 2012 21:03:06 GMT 1, Plagiarism is never pretty. I feel for you Jim. I know that you are taking the higher moral ground. But have you explored whether there is anything that you can do about this - particularly if you ae suffering financially as a result. PM me about this if you like.
In the meantime, I have wanted one of your granades now for so long, its painful. Can you let me know what you ahve available at the moment. Cheers

Rosa&Jim, by Deleted on May 23, 2012 21:31:31 GMT 1, Like this one Coach?
Sorry, but any opportunity to show it off. And one of these days I'll light it properly.
To add to what I said earlier, Jimmy helped me out tremendously with giving me access to his work and that of War Boutique for a production I was staging. A few pics from the fit up.
It's the above pic that illustrates how much the Layne Rowe work has 'borrowed' from this.
Through my dealings with Jimmy it was clear that he was incredibly passionate about his work, but also disillusioned about how he was being discredited and appeared powerless to deal with it.
It is only when I saw the work on the Layne Rowe website that I can see the full extent of the theft.
As a minimum Jim I think you ought to atleast take advice from someone with experience of this sort of thing.

Rosa&Jim, by BorntoKiln on May 24, 2012 11:00:47 GMT 1, Thanks for the comments Sean. I was very naive when I entered the art word, Iv learnt a lot since.
Still ....... I donยดt want to be one of them people that trusts no one. I like to look for the best in a person rather than the negative. I believe that if you have a gentleman's agreement and shake hands you should honor the agreement. I guess that still makes me naive in this brave new world.
Does that make sense, I enjoyed the Madrid nightlife last night and ain't the sharpest pencil today.

Dude,
I recently (5 months ago) bought a grenade from a gallery in York after seeing it in a major exhibition at the V&A...I had no idea Layne Rowe had stolen your artistic ideas. Mate, if I had known, I would never had bought it...(even though the gallery owner is a lovely guy and was struggling with cash flow at the time).
Now looking at his work at Londonglassblowing... it is totally different to your ideas...it is so different to his usual work it is not even funny trying to pass your ideas off as his own.
You have shown impeccable restraint and gentlemanly conduct in the manner you have dealt with this situation.
I and many members would like to show our solidarity by supporting YOUR work.
Please let me know what I can do.
Peace Up!

anbesivam1, many thanks for this post. I was waiting for someone to highlight the fact and notice the complete change of style regarding Layneยดs normal output of work. He was producing Granny Art before he met me, fantastic quality Granny Art but none the less. I bought my mum a piece and she loves it. He didnยดt even know this scene existed. And as for social commentary, if you knew him you would soon discover that the only thing he really cares about is himself.
Thanks for all the support people - Means a lot. Thereยดs some proppa diamonds on here. If you want to support me, bare with me. Mas Grens Muy Pronto.
Iยดm gonna put this issue to bed for now.
All the Best!! Jim
