Charity Auction Thread-Confirmation from Capability Scotland, by ricobenfico on Oct 21, 2012 17:25:36 GMT 1, OK ladies and gentlemen, a couple of generous forumites have got in touch with me and offered up a few things for auctioning off on this thread. I currently have 3 lots and plan to keep to the same similar rules as beofre except that I will offer these items up for x1 week at a time starting on a Sunday, ending the following Sunday at 8pm.
First up is a double up mixed lot of wonderful fanciful bit's n bobs from one of our most prolific posters....

"My name is Rebecca White, I have a cat called Tink and a dog called Eva. I like chocolate pudding but I am sad."
Those were the first words my daughter said to me. She was 11 years old, and she was only able to say them because of the support people like you give Capability Scotland.
Please will you join Capability Scotland's supporters now and give ยฃ25 to give another child like Rebecca a voice?
As a result of complications during birth, Rebecca's brain was starved of oxygen, and she has quadriplegic cerebral palsy. This means she's bright as a button, in a body that just won't work for her. She can't walk or sit unaided, she can't hear very well - and she can't speak.
Rebecca goes to Capability Scotland's Stanmore House School, along with other disabled children with severe and complex care needs. The school has invested in lots of very expensive equipment that lets Rebecca do things she couldn't otherwise do - like talking to her friends, teachers and me when I visit her in class.
One of these pieces of equipment is MyTobii, a special computer that tracks Rebecca's eye position so she can build sentences and 'speak' just by looking at icons on a screen. It means she can chat to friends, tell her teacher if something's wrong, or just register her disapproval of the school's new healthy eating menu. (Her next words to me were "I am sad because I don't get to eat chocolate pudding at school anymore!")
Rebecca's a beautiful, happy little girl, who is always laughing. With the right equipment, her cheeky personality shines through, even if her body can't do what she wants it to. For Rebecca, finally having a voice is life-changing.
