Displaying prints without framing, by decorum on Jun 18, 2011 20:29:43 GMT 1, Hmmm.... i dont think people are taking this thread too seriously. I think i will give some sensible advice. Ive hung a few pictures without frames using the following method.... I find that just chucking a print on the wall is never a good idea. For one it wont stay there.... I find that affixing the print onto a suitable backboard fixes this problem. You can either glue or tape the print to the back board and hang the board from the wall. The only problem with this is that the glue or tape may damage the rear of the print and may lead to a rippling effect. Ive found that by cutting a window into another piece of board, large enough for the print to show through, and then sandwiching the board, the print and then this 'window' together means you wont have to glue the print to the solid board. This then raises the issue of dirt and possible harmful UV light getting to the print face. What i normally do is cut a sheet of glass, sometimes UV glass, to the same size of the whole arrangement. This means dirt and such like cannot damage the print. Holding this glass in place may seem like a problem but what i do is get some batons of wood and affix them around the glass, allowing recesses for the 'sandwiched' art work to sit. I then secure the backboard in place using tape and little bendy metal things. This process may seem long winded but its a great alternative to using frames. A bonus with my method is that you can use different sizes and styles for the surrounding batons, giving a more aesthetically pleasing result. You can then get some wire and hooks fized to the back of this arrangement and hang from the wall.....VOILA! A print on the wall without using a frame! ;D ... oh wait.....
I've heard about people doing this kind of thing before... I think the procedure is called a "framing". Could be wrong.

Contest ideas, by decorum on Jun 10, 2011 23:50:02 GMT 1, 95% of folk own a camera phone. The image is a photo. Why not make a competition of you would not believe what I just saw and have people submit images taken from their day. Makes for an interesting thread, an artwork in it's own right and if you run it long enough, everyone gets a turn, leading to images like this that you stumble across in daily life
Am I a flipping retard - I don't get the funny side to the photo!?

Eine "CHANGE" Framing - Black or White?, by decorum on Jun 10, 2011 15:14:28 GMT 1, Tough call! Don't think the gilt works...
Either black frame/White mount or Black frame/black mount. The black mount brings out the edges nicely.

Eine "CHANGE" Framing - Black or White?, by decorum on Jun 10, 2011 11:26:44 GMT 1, White looks better I reckon! How about trying black frame with a white mount and white frame with a black mount so it kind of echoes the way that the layering of the letter works?
I would like to see that too - Gary, are you able to show the sheet as well?

Such an amazing and talented artist - so true to his work and not letting any bulls**t get in the way.
Pity there are so many artists who forget about who they are and miss the point.

Any suggestions of its worth would be appreciated too!

Eine • Change Print, by decorum on May 31, 2011 17:39:36 GMT 1, you're all going to find out sooner or later so...
if you want to wait until you recieve yours then dont look!!!
The box is stunning - screen printed with some great details including a signature and edition number (itself well worth putting up on the wall).
There is a 7th letter in the box - another C. Designed so that you can swap the g with another c and create CHANCE.
There is only one signature and edition number on one of the letters - not on all.
A spectactular collectors item.

The surprise is that all the letters are actually inflatable and you can blow them up to wall size!

Tips for trip to Paris......., by decorum on May 30, 2011 9:45:27 GMT 1, I just came back from Paris - Vitry was the street art highlight with more C215 than you can poke a stick at as well as some great other local artists.
Les Halles and Oberkamph (sp?) has some nice street art too.
Magda Danysz gallery has a very impressive display of shep posters at the moment.
If you are into Monet, go to the Galerie L'orangerie and check out the water nymphs - breathtaking space.
Food - best meal I had was at Cafe constant near the Eiffel tower.

Could be very interesting!

Gone Thanks, by decorum on Apr 29, 2011 23:25:01 GMT 1, mmmike - couldnt agree more with what you are saying.
If bornwithawoodensp is egging on another anti-cartrain debate then he has done a good job. If he's simply trying to sell some work then let it be. If you want the piece then buy it.
In saying that, Cartrain and Alistairkhalil portray themselves as 'holier than thou' and really should stop. The work on B's Camden canal piece was childish, the 'biggin' up of "future works" is so far unjustified and the work that i see on the street and on this forum are far from rocking my boat.
Advice to bornwithawoodensp: whack the canvas on ebay - you might be surprised!
Advice to Cartrain/Alistairkhalil: Stop for a second, grow up, think about what you are doing and show us all some originality, skill and something to talk about (in a positive way!)

Banksy in London - If Graffiti Changed Anything..., by decorum on Apr 27, 2011 15:45:44 GMT 1, Love it! Great to watch the reactions of passers by - from pin stripe suits, elderly, kids, cabbies, vagrants and punk rockers - all taking photos and genuinely amazed that they had seen a 'Banksy'! The barmaid across the road, who had never heard of him, went and watched Exit and now feels so privileged that she works opposite it.
