Tehran Ratz - Graffiti Iran, by balibob on Oct 7, 2011 16:25:34 GMT 1, That must be one of the most dangerous places for a graff artist. I bet the penalty for being caught isn't a fine or a few months at her Maj's timeshare apartments. More power to their spray cans.

British Museum / Grayson Perry, by balibob on Oct 7, 2011 15:01:09 GMT 1, Nobody sticks it to an artist like Brian Sewell. It must be very tempting if you are the object of his vitreol, to print the article out and frame it, just to have a permenant record of a piece of writing that is so beautifully constructed, consise and down right bitchy. The Brucie bonus being it actually mentions your name.
His writing should be put up as part of every school curriculum (along with Mr Fry's)to show how the English language can be used, because it doesn't matter whether you agree with him or not, its just a joy to read.
To hear him speak is almost as good, a man with an accent so posh he actually looks like human speach is painfull.
When Brian (national treasure) Sewell slags you off, you've made it.

STIK Solo Show - 6th Oct 2011, by balibob on Oct 6, 2011 17:03:30 GMT 1, I have to agree. I am not a big fan but whichever prices are correct both are far to high. You can buy some fantastic pieces by artists with pretty established CVs for £1000/£2000. Madness if you ask me.
Got to agree, I just can't get Stik at all, and when you compare the images with those produced by really technically good artists like Rourke or Danny O'connor, those prices make my head spin.

OCCUPY WALL STREET, by balibob on Oct 5, 2011 13:23:33 GMT 1, Interesting discussions going on and its difficult to see who, if any, have the solution and that includes all our governments. I quite like the idea that anyone who puts themselves up for any election should be immediately disqualified purely on that ambition alone, as putting amatures in charge of running a country's finances is quite literally stupid. How many of our elected leaders have ever held down responsible jobs in industry?.
The term fat cats is being banded around a lot, as is the term the top 1%. Only a small portion of these people are the investment bankers that everyone seems to hate, the rest are wealth generators who run business' and pay 38 - 40 % of the tax paid in most countries.
Greece, for us Europeans, is the biggest concern at the moment and literally nobody in the country pays tax, and I dont mean the rich, its everyone and dodging it seems to be accepted as the norm. Therefore the Greek government has no income, cannot pay the interest on its loans, cannot pay for its vital imports and is going to be a huge burdon on the rest of Europe. The figures for Ireland, Portugal, Spain and Italy are pretty much the same. So clobbering the rich isn't the solution. That has been tried and it failed completely, anyone remember communism.
Protests are good as it at least shows you care, solutions are whats needed and I haven't a clue where we are going to find them.
