Kaws • Lost Time, Alone Again, Far Far Down, by Wrinkled Brain on Jan 2, 2020 19:11:03 GMT 1, $75000 for the framed set. It is really nice in person, and no matter what anyone says you can’t lose money on kaws sets close to primary. I can’t predict when this set will increase for the resellers but a set has sold at auction for $90000. Bottom line, buy it because you enjoy it, long term this set will only go up. Kaws has solidified himself enough where it’s impossible to lose money from toys, edition, or uniques at cost. Yes, this didn’t appreciate like a lot of the resellers has hope, but no one is even close to selling a set for $65000 + fees. It’s very rare you can buy a set of Kaws secondary for a reasonable price without debating if your getting ripped off or not. If you want to talk long term, a lot of people are splitting these sets up which means there will be more and more complete matching sets unavailable. Just my thoughts, and Happy New Year. Couldn't have said it any better. I've collected KAWS for 3 decades now. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, has his stuff resold for much more than retail for several years after release... odd right? Seems crazy this print set is still at cost or just a little more..? That's because collecting KAWS is new to you.
Quote me on this:
This print set will be worth at least 2.5X its original value by the end of this decade which one could argue is a better investment than anything. Anyone that truly cared for KAWS before the hype has a solid collection and is nowhere to be found in the comments on this site anymore.
Good luck with the sale.

Jerkface 🇺🇸 New York Artist • New Release • Art For Sale, by Wrinkled Brain on Sept 4, 2019 17:18:07 GMT 1, Surprise print relase today 3 new prints released Blinking Pink (pink panther) Every Adventure Requires a First Step (cheshire cat) Money with a Machine Gun (flinstone x jetsons) Anybody grab any? Really wanted the Cheshire Cat but the price was out of budget at the moment so I went the economical route and purchased "Chimp with a Machine Gun" print. Looking forward to seeing it in person... hoping the quality is worth the price.

Daniel Arsham 🇺🇸 New York • Eroded Future Relic, by Wrinkled Brain on Aug 27, 2019 20:41:07 GMT 1, I, too, hope for the end of the hype-driven sculpts and more of what he began with. I've passed on all of his releases except for the relics and blue bear. This sculpt really resonated with me.
To be honest, I was a big fan of what Arsham was doing in the beginning. I am an 80's child and witnessed the speed with which technologies became obsolete grow exponentially. I always loved as an early teenager going upstate and spending time in junk stores where I would find old electronics that were cool to look at, especially when stacked and piled on top of one another in no particular manner. Arsham's idea to document these "relics" in a fossilized manner, to me really resonated and I wanted to display them in my home and joke about them with my kids one day. Then after the Future Relics he started making what in effect was "Merch." Logo'd garbage for the hype generation. It made no sense to me, and I lost respect. It felt like the guy was co-opted by his f*ckboi partner in crime who makes money selling overpriced cereal, and bad re-releases of nostalgic "gear," which is available for a fraction of the price at the salvation army. Anyway, back to my original line of thought. This is precisely the type of edition I personally want to see more of from Daniel Arsham, not some bullsh*t candles, flags, or care bears with colored powder on them. I hope that this release's subject, and the apparent attempt at reducing botfukkery represent a new chapter for an artist who I believe is both culturally relevant, and highly talented, as well as skilled at popularizing art as a means for social good. Only time will tell...

Quick side note I learned the hard way: Keeping prints stored between cardboard can cause damage from the grooves of the cardboard. Best to store them between something a bit smoother than cardboard.

Beautiful Losers Lithograph Jonathan Levine, by Wrinkled Brain on Aug 13, 2019 16:47:32 GMT 1, so he makes a toy which is uneditioned and unsigned and he makes no mention of it on instagram as if to say don't buy. However a poster which he admittedly made which is uneditioned and unsigned he blasts on instagram? Seems to me he asked for royalties and wasn't given any because he sold the image to jonathan levine or some other entity and they now own the printing rights and told him no. Now he blasts it because he ain't getting paid. This is the height of hubris if you ask me... While I stand by my remarks above it seems he was taking issue with the way Hypebeastart phrased it, saying rare lithograph instead of poster. Strange that he didn't call out jonathan levine directly for doing the same thing. Either way it seemed to always be clear that it was an uneditioned show poster. Check Jonathan Levine's IG, KAWS commented.

Kaws + NIKE, by Wrinkled Brain on Jul 30, 2019 19:03:02 GMT 1, I can get on board with most of what you said here but your claim that these wont be worth much more than double retail this time next year is just absolutely absurd. Like every other shoe, the price starts very high before release date, then comes down as people get their pairs on release day and look to flip and then slowly and steadily continually rise over time. These shoes will drop to around 1500 the day after they release and by next year it will not be possible to get a pair for under 2K. How's your prediction looking now lad??? Just saw a pair sell for £600. 😂😂😂😂. I found your desire to respond years later to be quite humorous.. especially considering your comical prediction that "these won't be worth much more than double retail this time next year," yet ironically, you still feel inclined to point out that these (per your facts) sold for 3 times retail and as the member stated above these are actually selling for near and above $2,000.
