Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Street Art Fan on Jul 30, 2014 15:59:15 GMT 1, I recommend stopping by the Cotton Candy Machine in Brooklyn. They will have two shows on view: The National Poster Retrospecticus and SEHER, SMITHE & KRAKEN. They also have a large selection of pieces on sale which are almost never over $5,000 and a ton of prints by artists mentioned on here. Dorian Grey Gallery in the East Village has a lot of works available by artists that get mentioned here a bit including Stik, Mau Mau, and Saner--I just saw the Mexican street artists show there which was pretty good. It recently closed but I think they still had a bunch of prints available. August 23rd will be the last day of the Cruel Summer group exhibition at the Jonathan Levine Gallery in Chelsea. jonathanlevinegallery.com/If you get a chance I highly recommend visiting 5 Pointz before it is demolished. While it was whitewashed earlier this year a lot of the old work is still visible as is some newer work protesting the whitewashing on the building. Submerged motherlands--the huge installation by Swoon--will be on view at the Brooklyn museum through August 24th. The installation is really fantastic and the museum is suggested donation. Also a fun thing to do is to check out the Bowery/Houston Wall on Houston street arrestedmotion.com/tag/bowery-houston-mural/ and then walk around the corner to Russ and Daughters which is an NYC institution and get their famous lox and bagels. Thanks for this, opalis141. I'm from the Philly area and even though I've been to NYC dozens of times, I always feel that I'm just skimming the surface of what it has to offer. I'll have to keep these in mind when I visit later this summer.

Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Street Art Fan on Jul 30, 2014 15:53:01 GMT 1, Is there anything else you are interested in while you are visiting? I feel like NYC can be overwhelming with just the sheer number of options of things to do and I am always happy to help someone out with recommendations to help narrow things down a bit. It's not street art, but in August I'm planning to take my 7 year old to the Koons show at the Whitney. Save for the porno stuff he did with his ex-wife, I like his work - its fun and whimsical. My daughter's a budding artist, so I think she'll get a kick out of it.

The Outsiders prints available, by Street Art Fan on Jul 30, 2014 15:35:26 GMT 1, It was sandwiched between the releases of Modern Monarchy (ยฃ350) and Tardis (ยฃ375) so it seemed overly pricey at the time Agreed - it is quite pricey. Looks lovely though.

Prints in Tubes, by Street Art Fan on Jul 30, 2014 5:53:58 GMT 1, Good questions, Ivanhoe. Not sure why, but it unnerves me to see rare and expensive prints being held down with drinking glasses. I know that art supply shops sell holders just for this purpose, but I've just been too lazy to actually make the trip to buy a set.

POSE Mural - original collage, framed, by Street Art Fan on Jul 27, 2014 4:28:27 GMT 1, Lovely, lovely pieces and very decent prices for originals. GLWTS. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed similarities between Pose and Crash's works? Crash currently has a show at Jonathan Levine; I think Pose had one there last year. They're amazing artists - I count them both among my favorites - but I'll admit that I don't know much about either. I agree, like these a lot. Don't know much about POSE, but see the similarities. Crash is first generation, old-school pioneering graffiti artist. Started painting trains in the 1970s, one of the first graffiti guys to put stuff on canvas into galleries. He also painted some guitars for Eric Clapton among other things. Lots of info online about him. Thanks man, I'll have to read up on him. Absolutely love his stuff.

Art pieces you would NEVER sell or trade?, by Street Art Fan on Jul 26, 2014 22:05:26 GMT 1, Would love to hear the story behind this, stoko... My mate guitar tech'd for joe, was lucky enough to meet him a few times. A jaw droppingly inspirational man. Nice story. Joe truly was inspiring - his music helped me through some dark times. Congrats - that's definitely something to cherish.
