RAE "Word of Mouth" show in NYC 10/26, by Street Art Fan on Oct 26, 2013 0:17:23 GMT 1, i have just looked at it, and i am not really convinced. I really love two (Care free and Word of mouth) but apart from that, nothing outstanding imo. The selection at Signal was much better for me, but of course, this is just my view. Should be a nice show anyway, i hope to see pictures of the installation tomorrow I agree - his Signal show was much better, imo. I'm a huge Rae fan, but I'm not liking what I see in the pdf. The installation concept sounds cool though.

Banksy - Better Out Than In - New York - BOTI, by Street Art Fan on Oct 4, 2013 3:54:06 GMT 1, "You are in Midtown Manhattan!
Are you looking at one of the great artworks of the 21st century? If so, you're in the wrong place. You should be looking at a stencil of a dog peeing on a hydrant. Spay art. Heh. That's one of my...
It's a well-known truism that the mark of a great artist is their ability to capture light. So you will note that this piece is rendered entirely in silhouette. To the average viewer, this may seem at first glance a thin, faux, comical cartoon aimed at providing a small glimmer of light relief to local commuters. But look again and what do you see? That's right. A structural re-contextualizing of the juxtaposition between form and surface. Welcome to the art world.
Perhaps Banksy is playing with the notion that graffiti is the territorial sprayings of feral youth? After all, wouldn't the architecture hoisted on our cities be incomplete without the maverick stains of those answering back? Or perhaps, as some would argue, this is a broader comment on the nature of abusive relationships? But those people need to shut up, you know? They need to have some sense beaten into them because that's like the stupidest thing I've ever heard, you know? How could that relate to anything but a dog peeing on a hydrant..."
If Banksy ever tires of making street art, he'd make one heckuva comedy writer.

Banksy - Better Out Than In - New York - BOTI, by Street Art Fan on Oct 2, 2013 23:57:17 GMT 1, Do you know what I love most about all of this? Seeing how excited people are about it all. Rushing around, taking pictures, sharing information, theories, etc. Even other artists are getting caught up in it, and sharing a joke or too. It's a minor distraction to real life, but a very welcome one. Cheers Banksy. My thoughts exactly. Thanks for posting.

I loved the one on the left but it was too big for my flat so i asked for a smaller version...and loved the result ! Yes, I think I might have been referring to these. Holy mackerel, they are stunning.
I wonder who the lucky guys/gals were who picked them up.

RAE - Street Art Work, by Street Art Fan on Sept 9, 2013 3:04:31 GMT 1, New RAE from Instagram - "Ring D Alarm" Beautiful!
It's amazing to watch Rae's aesthetic evolve. His new works seem to involve even more experimentation with forms, colors and shapes - they're looser and messier than the stuff he's made before. I wonder whether he's motivated by his beef with BAST to forge an even more distinguishable style.
