Harland Miller Show , by Guaanie on Jun 28, 2017 15:36:05 GMT 1, I think another reason is that most of the HM canvases are flippin' huge and therefore my not physically fit in a lot of homes - or may be pretty overpowering. Potentially, a smaller, hand-finished print would be the next best thing.

Harland Miller Show , by Guaanie on Jun 28, 2017 12:28:22 GMT 1, Anyone going next Thursday? I'll be there for sure. Last I heard there was no need for a guest list - it's a case of just turning up, right?

Invader RVE Repetition Variation Evolution Print, by Guaanie on Jun 27, 2017 16:45:41 GMT 1, What about people who didn't manage to buy one saying that? We should avoid sweeping generalisations. Not everyone has nefarious motives. I've always been an invader fan and passed on plenty over the years. I like this one. I can't think of how cool it would be to somehow frame with a moving magnifying glass that can stretch across the entire print focusing on each invader individually and blowing it up. Wow. That would be quite the frame!
What are people thinking? So many options... I'm tempted by keeping it simple - floated in a box frame - but don't know whether to go white frame with black fillet or black frame with white fillet. Decisions, decisions.

Will Martyr, Wanderlust Exhibition & Print Release, by Guaanie on Jun 23, 2017 16:20:25 GMT 1, Yup, I love Will's work. Picked this up a few years back. Lovely bit of diamond dust on the type so the pic doesn't do it justice really.

Dave Buonaguidi ๐ฌ๐ง The Real Hackney Dave โข Print Release, by Guaanie on Jun 14, 2017 17:07:14 GMT 1, Dave's a bloody nice guy - very charismatic and a very influential figure in the world of advertising too.
I work in the ad industry and he came and did a talk at our agency yesterday (he ended up turning his hand to screen-printing after he left his own agency and was put on 'gardening leave'). Swears a lot and absolutely ripped the industry apart but made some hugely valid points.
Anyway, I digress... I like his stuff, it's pretty nice - especially in the flesh.

Artists Similar to Pose?, by Guaanie on Jun 14, 2017 12:04:23 GMT 1, and it needs to be by a 'popular' artist? No, not really - just a similar style. He saw some Pose street work and loved it so I suggested it would be worth checking out other artists with a similar look and feel.
Happy to say though that I managed to organise getting a Pose tidy from a forum member so he's done for now but I've been forwarding on all of your info/suggestions as I'm sure he'll be getting the collecting bug!
Thank you everyone.

Artists Similar to Pose?, by Guaanie on Jun 13, 2017 8:53:35 GMT 1, Hi guys,
I'm helping a friend get into this peculiar hobby of collecting expensive bits of paper and he's looking to make his first purchase.
He loves Pose but only has a budget of about ยฃ250 for his first piece (print or original). Can anyone recommend any visually similar artists that are around this mark?
Thanks!

Thought I'd add an image showing an example of the full page and also a close up:

BANKSY in Dover, Brexit, by Guaanie on May 9, 2017 15:04:04 GMT 1, my guess is he drew the sketch and then got his minions to create the stencils and organise the painting of the wall etc Totally agree. I find it hard to believe he would risk getting caught these days. I'm sure he's become the creative director to a team now - just like Hirst.

FRIDAY MCBESS GIVEAWAY, by Guaanie on Mar 24, 2017 11:56:01 GMT 1, Morning all, So I was recently made redundant (boo) but in clearing out my desk discovered a McBess screen print that I just won't get on a wall, it's a signed open edition so there's no monetary value in it for the winner other than that they'll get a free print. I'll pay postage within the UK. Just like my post and drop a response if you want it and I'll do a random draw later this afternoon, around 4pm. Amazing! I love McBess. Count me in please.
PS. Amazing giveaway I mean (not that you've been made redundant. That sucks. I hope you find something soon).

Forum Auctions โข Banksy Marketplace ๐ฌ๐ง, by Guaanie on Mar 22, 2017 9:42:04 GMT 1, 30k-40k for a print...well ok... but 3.8k for the banksy tenner ?! that's ridiculous ! did i miss something - was the tenner signed, a sheet, anything special... etc. ?! No, it was clearly just bought by a fckwit who had no idea what they were doing!
The description read: '...The full sheet printed to the edges'. Maybe the aforementioned fckwit thought they'd be getting the full sheet of tenners - even though the dimensions were also clearly in the description. Thats the only conceivable reason I could think of - apart from the heady mix of fuckwittery and too much money.

I just went all Jesus and walked right across... Seriously though, did you get any of the water in your eye?! the burn! Ha! Well, I guess you've got to channel ol' JC when in the Holy Land!
Oh my god yes - it was horrific. Worth the pain though!

, by Guaanie on Mar 8, 2017 10:51:03 GMT 1, To anyone going, I'd like to reassure people that the West Bank was one of my favourite places I have been. Despite the poverty and stories you will hear, I felt super-safe and the people there are just absolutely lovely and we were shown the greatest hospitality. In 2012 I flew into Israel and then went on to the West Bank - not before the full-on interrogation at the airport in the UK and in Tel Aviv mind you. Believe me, it was pretty hardcore. Lots of one-on-one questioning and I was singled out for a detailed swab and search (I don't think they like beards...). Nevertheless it was efficient and we got there in one piece. It's surprising how quickly you get used to the airport-style security at shopping malls, bus and train stations - it does make you feel safer. Seeing groups of young Israelis on national service hanging out on public transport carrying guns was pretty odd at first but then you do get used to moving your bags for their automatic rifles! Anyway, we went from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem (worth staying there for a bit for sure) and then took the bus to Bethlehem. You will be shocked at the difference between Israel and the West Bank- the poverty is very apparent. However, we were greeted by a load of taxi drivers looking for fares. We ended up meeting this driver called Yusef and after taking us to the hotel, we agreed to meet the next day. We paid him for the day and he took us around pretty much all the West Bank. It was eye-opening and fascinating to hear his story of 'living under occupation'. He introduced us to some of his friends and it was so interesting to hear their stories. Anyway - I fully recommend doing that to get a flavour of what it's really like. You will be shocked and you will see some horrific sights but it is something I personally believe people should do. After staying in and around the West Bank, we went back into Israel and stayed in Haifa. This is a very beautiful coastal city and throughly recommend it. The people there are very multi-cultural and open which was very nice to experience to get the other side of the story. Anyway - to sum it up. It was scary, beautiful, strange and safe. An odd combination of experiences but certainly one I would recommend to anyone. Thank you for sharing that! If I end up scoring a reservation at the WOH / get some appropriate time off work then might need to get some recommendations from you. Sure thing! I'll be more than happy to help.

Looking perhaps at staying in Bethlehem, and doing a bit of travelling around during our time. Will try to reserve the walled-in, but unlikely we'd get Any advice? anyone else going? Cheers Make sure you go to the Dead Sea. One of the coolest things I did over there. You get to lob mud at your wife too. Slippery as hell getting in though! I felt like I aged 50 years attempting to navigate the slippery mud and walk through the water!
