The next US President? Clinton or Trump, by wakeskater on Jun 30, 2016 20:54:09 GMT 1, I wanted to share this podcast on the subject of Drumpf. The first half discusses what most of us think of him and how he came to be a political figure. The title is miss leading as the second half talks and the end of faith. ""Disclaimer"" If the second half is going to offend you then I recommend not listening to it. Worth the listen! www.samharris.org/podcast/item/the-end-of-faith-sessions-2Thank you for posting. Sam Harris is among the most lucid, relevant and, quite frankly, courageous thinkers of the moment. This is an exceptional podcast. I too highly recommend it, especially the first half you refer to (itself in two parts) running from 2:52 โ 1:03:43. [As an aside, why suggest that people not listen to the second half if they might be offended? Ironically, this presumably well-intentioned advice (and general mindset) is an aspect of the very problem Harris is attempting to address in the first half.] The commentary is less incisive regarding Donald Trump than about one of the likely reasons for his ascendancy. Exploring the latter is crucial. Instead of just pointing a finger at Trump and the apparent imbeciles, ignoramuses and bigots who support him, it forces people to ask themselves an uncomfortable question: To what extent are we โ the intelligent, informed, liberal-minded and empathetic among us โ responsible for the current political success of Trump and others like him? ------------ By way of taster and encouragement, here's a transcript of 22:32 โ 25:18: "Yes, there's a lot to say about Clinton. And if you're going to bring her husband into it, there's just a wasteland of embarrassment there. But these are not the sorts of things that could push the career of our species into the ditch.
Trump shows every sign of being that sort of character, where a combination of hubris and ignorance of a sort that we have never seen could create extraordinary economic and political chaos. There is nothing like that on Clinton's side, hence a 'lesser of two evils' argument makes perfect sense here.
The amazing thing about Trump is that he is so terrible that he has completely re-set everyone's expectations of what is conceivably acceptable in a presidential candidate.
You've seen the footage of him openly mocking a disabled reporter, right? Watch that footage, and imagine what that would have done to any other person's campaign. Imagine President Obama eight years ago doing that. Imagine Hillary Clinton today doing that. That's the end of the campaign.
Trump has done a dozen things like that โ that are so unpresidential, that show such poor judgment, such a lack of impulse control, such a pettiness, such narcissism, such emotional and intellectual immaturity, it would be inconceivable to promote such a person in any other context as a candidate of a major political party. And yet here we are with Trump.
And I do share the view that has been expressed by many โ and that I actually expressed early on โ that liberals in their political correctness are largely culpable for this, because we are all tired of political correctness. Being a bully and a braggart and a buffoon is not the only way to disavow political correctness. But I believe it is true that everyone's loss of patience with politically correct lies has allowed one of the most fraudulent and egocentric people who has ever walked the earth launch what is now an all-too-plausible bid for the presidency.
And political correctness is even now confusing people about Trump. It's causing them to focus on the points of least concern, and in fact remain blind to what is attractive about him for people." You know, I didn't put much thought into that until you mentioned something, but you are correct. I guess I put the disclaimer in so as to not redirect the topic of the thread. It could also be the fact that I'm from and currently reside in the deep south where questioning religion is one of the biggest taboos. I think for that reason my subconscious kicked in and took over. Or it could be from all the trigger warnings that I have to be aware of nowadays when dealing with kids in my college classes because they are unable to accept facts that go against their ideas of how life should be.

POSE Mirror 2016 New Print Edition 100, by wakeskater on Jun 29, 2016 2:46:16 GMT 1, I find all this funny. This is the first POSE print I've bought. I purchased it through the pre-sale as well. I contacted POSE on his website indicating that I bought a print through pre-sale and asked when it would ship. They informed me that "they" would ship at the end of this week. Still no shipment email for me!

Shepard Fairey "Earth Crisis" 24th June , by wakeskater on Jun 12, 2016 1:39:12 GMT 1, I hope his fans like the new blue because it seems that he's retiring red as his main color choice.

New Banksy prints., by wakeskater on Jun 10, 2016 13:53:59 GMT 1, I got into collecting prints around the time Banksy stopped releasing prints to the public. It's unfortunate as I missed out on his prints at source and are now having to save up money to buy a unsigned version that I like. I agree with Winter that he probably won't release another public print. I could be wrong, crazier things have happened.

Zevs ๐จ๐ต Liquidated Trademarks โข Logo Street Art , by wakeskater on Jun 9, 2016 21:54:29 GMT 1, When looking at the photo from the other thread it seems to be one of the last ones to be released. All the other ones have slowly been released. I don't have any inside source so my prospective is strictly based off what I've been following up until this point.

"KANYE Loves KANYE" Controversial signed by Scott Marsh 4/25, by wakeskater on May 24, 2016 3:25:16 GMT 1, Then you start a thread! I'm going make this a little more straight forward because I might not have explained it well enough. Do some research of how the site works before posting. You'll save yourself and all of us the trouble. Good luck with your sale!

"KANYE Loves KANYE" Controversial signed by Scott Marsh 4/25, by wakeskater on May 24, 2016 2:47:20 GMT 1, You've missed the mark with this one man. It happens I guess. Your price does make me question whether this is a real post. As another junior member on here I suggest this, look at the email that was sent when you registered here. It will tell you the ins and outs of the site. Introducing yourself goes a long way with the people who have been on this site for years and when in doubt ask someone. There's a price check thread to better gauge the price for what you would like to sell. It's there, you just have to look and because you didn't people are jumping down your throat. Welcome to the site, it can be a cruel world on here. Mistakes will keep you from making them again.

Faile โข Invasion Dream Club, by wakeskater on Apr 1, 2016 23:55:50 GMT 1, I quite like it where is it being released from. As long as it's not art republic I'm happy. I believe FAILE releases most their prints from in house. I like this one more than the first one they put out although I don't think it's worth $500!

Paul Insect "It's only a Dream" Allouche Gallery, by wakeskater on Apr 1, 2016 11:37:10 GMT 1, There seems to be a bit of confusion and I'm probably involved in it. Allouche Gallery is out of New York. Some members early have stated that London is a temporary pop-up spot in NYC. I based my assumption on the galleries location from their site. I'm not quite sure why a gallery based in New York would do a pop-up show in another country, but then again I'm fairly new to all this. If you take the time to read the flier it looks quite clear.
You are right and I am wrong. No problem saying it. I did read through the thread and got confused by earlier comments made.

NEW Shepard Fairey Print Release, by wakeskater on Mar 30, 2016 16:09:58 GMT 1, Is it just me or has he done this same if not similar image several times? It's similar to that recent Paradise one, but only in colour and how he's done the sea. What's the other artist's contribution/influence? It looks like a regular Shep image to me??
http://instagram.com/p/6qoy3gpaMk
I believe this his second wave print that does nothing for me. Easy pass. Which has been the case for most his recent works.

Updated For Sale: Invader, Baker, Hayuk, Jerkface, Obey, by wakeskater on Feb 18, 2016 18:50:44 GMT 1, It seems like an interest is only an interest. If he responded saying I'll buy it. I'd sell to the guy wanting it right then rather then the guy just interested. No body wants to let a possible sale go while someone is mulling over it with thoughts.

Banksy Applause pow version unsigned, by wakeskater on Jan 22, 2016 12:21:18 GMT 1, According to EB the average for this print is $1,400 roughly. The highest ever paid for it was $4,000. So the real question is the print for sale or are you only interested in a price check? No one uses the EB averages for Banksy as they are very out dated mostly. I would guess the average is now around ยฃ3k and the highest paid ยฃ4,275,25p
Thank you for clarifying for me. Now I know.

Mac or PC?, by wakeskater on Jan 18, 2016 14:46:18 GMT 1, Like most on here I would have to say Mac is better. Unfortunately mines about to have its 9th birthday and save up money to buy another while save money for prints can be a bit of a hassle.
