Cleon Peterson • Police Shooting, by tommyb on May 11, 2015 11:49:02 GMT 1, This print has just arrived, it looks pretty great, unfortunately my girlfriend fails to appreciate it. Would trade for an early style Hush or 150 series Faile or consider something else if it is cool. Many thanks!

UK Election 2015 and Political Art, by tommyb on May 8, 2015 18:34:26 GMT 1, Reminder of forum rules - urbanartassociation.com/thread/129163/forum-rulesUnacceptable Behaviour: 2. Sexist, Homophobic, Racist, Threatening or Abusive behaviour is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Thank you. when i see some on this thread i'll be sure and let you know. or has nigel farage already complained (i hear he's an avid bambi collector).
I hear this Farage or "garage" as my phone likes to call him will buy any painting of a black person he encounters and paint their faces white in an attempt to eradicate blacks from all British paintings

DOLK Prints, Sleepwalker & Chief at HMP, by tommyb on May 6, 2015 17:30:48 GMT 1, I have honestly received free prints and little drawings from artists that I would much rather have on my wall than one of these. These are barley more inspired than the work of Mr brainwash

How do you feel?, by tommyb on Apr 29, 2015 23:46:15 GMT 1, I am totally with you on this one, I used to look at this site frequently everyday, I didn't make a great deal of posts but it always made for an entertaining read, it was full of good folks always ready to offer help and advice. I find the good guys are starting to thin out on here and that the enforcement of forum rules are pushing them away, the vast majority of people who use this forum are grown adults with a fine understanding of what is a responsible or moral thing to post, the rules and guardian thing is greatly patronising in my view.

First Tattoo, by tommyb on Mar 12, 2015 5:06:48 GMT 1, Thinking of getting my first tattoo, don't know where or what so early days. I'd like something urban art related,be pick something from one my favourite artists, anyone have any suggestions as to what would look good?
I have a tattoo based on a piece of art work from my childhood, it is awesome, I love it. However I always have a couple of tattoos from my "I don't know what, I don't know where" days that in an ideal world would not be on my body forever. If you are thinking that you are unsure then my advice is wait. You will know what to get when you are ready.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by tommyb on Feb 22, 2015 19:35:53 GMT 1, Super pleased with this one. Big thank you to Andrew at Thinkspace. Congrats on purchasing this one, has to be my favourite artwork for a good while, I enquired about this one as soon as I saw it but noone ever got back to me so you must have beaten me to it. If for some bizarre reason you decide to sell it at some point please give me a pm but I will think less of you for not thinking it is a keeper if you do so!

Space invader chat - PHOTOS AND VIDEOS WELCOME, by tommyb on Feb 22, 2015 11:32:17 GMT 1,
Saw this, thought it looked awesome, also thought, oh football doesn't start until 12:00 I have ages before I make my way to the pub (about 50 yards up the road) I can easily make a rough one before that time. Then I realised that I have not owned a piece of square paper since my GCSE mathematics days so it looks like an early trip to the pub for me. Hope everyone else's day is equally productive.

Price check HUSH Little Angels Edition of 15, by tommyb on Feb 15, 2015 11:38:08 GMT 1, Hey Tommy..Got an email from Opus Art saying they wanna take it on consignment at 750..they are the original gallery to release the print so I guess will go with their offer..see how it goes..Hush's old stuff is still collectable but I guess as you said the market is very unpredictable..but thank you for your input.. Come to think of it I mistook your print for love/hate (they don't even look similar) which is a way bigger edition. Forget everything I typed previously! Having one of those mornings I am afraid. Sorry about the mix up, hope you get what you want for your print anyway.

Price check HUSH Little Angels Edition of 15, by tommyb on Feb 15, 2015 9:01:18 GMT 1, One sold on eBay just before Christmas for a depressing amount, think about £120 but I am putting that down to the time of the year, someone got a very good deal on that one. I always thought these made £300-£400. Old style Hush pieces are hard to cauge though, the market doesn't seem to be what it was and prices seem to be all over the place at the moment.

Why doesn't Banksy flood his own market?, by tommyb on Feb 7, 2015 18:08:41 GMT 1, By not releasing prints and cashing in his previous prints sell for more and more this gets the media talking, this causes the hype and prices to grow And if he did continue to release prints it would also be a media frenzy with much publicity so I don't think it's a valid argument. I really think Banksy just doesn't care about satiating people's gluttonous desire to buy things. Come on man, you cannot say that isn't a valid argument, it is after all more of an arguement then "I really think Banksy just doesn't care about satiating people's gluttonous desire to buy things.". I am not saying it is the right or wrong answer, it is ofcourse like everything else on this thread speculation. If you think of all the stories about the prices his art achieves, people claiming ownership of bits of wall he has painted on bits of wall that vanish over night etc... All of these stories happen due to the value of his art which is created because of its exclusivity. That is a valid arguement, I am not sure how you can disagree with that.

Why doesn't Banksy flood his own market?, by tommyb on Feb 4, 2015 1:13:15 GMT 1, By not releasing prints and cashing in his previous prints sell for more and more this gets the media talking, this causes the hype and prices to grow further to the point where every single piece he creates on the streets ends up in dozens of news papers and various other news sources etc... as his art carries a political message he ofcourse wants his message to reach as far as possible, if his work was not hyped the way it is it would only really ever be seen by whomever walks past it or the likes of us collectors (who are for the most part already of a similar political persuasion). It is all just about creating as big an audience as possible for himself. If you were to take another artist with a political agenda such as shep fairey who churnes out print after print after print only collectors ever hear of his realeases and as mentioned before they already have a similar political mindset anyway, so in terms of spreading a political message one Banksy street piece a year probably challenges more minds then dozens of fairey prints. Maybe he wants every fan to own a piece of his artwork to enjoy everyday I really don't know, but if he were to do this the hype would slow, his message would reach fewer people and that would defeat the entire purpose of making political art.

Bristol phrases, by tommyb on Oct 18, 2014 23:29:21 GMT 1, Another phrase used in Bristol solely by Rovers fans(until this year) is what a bunch of useless c**ts. Oh come on man, that can't be just a Rovers term, I use that saying almost daily when referring to my bosses.
Sure it is a phrase which is suitable for other things but due to the notable accuracy once applied to rovers it almost takes on another meaning.

Rene Gagnon 🇺🇸 Graffiti Art • Painting • Art For Sale, by tommyb on Oct 16, 2014 10:03:19 GMT 1, I probably missed a piece by one of them but who ripped off the Nike of Samothrace?
Also I like Renes work, I find it cheap and cheerful, some bits are questionable sure, but he has produced a few gems also.

New mau mau, by tommyb on Sept 30, 2014 9:01:27 GMT 1, Is it a hand painted edition? There is no information on the souled out website yet, normally they will put something on it prior the release. Besides, Beejoir is currently in the Netherlands, or is only Kate running the website? They sent out an email saying: New Mau Mau Edition ‘High Times’
Signed Edition of 55
It had to happen at some point, Mau Mau’s iconic Fox…. blowing some smoke rings…. Released at 4pm Uk Time Tuesday 30th September…… on www.souledoutstudios.com
A three colour hand painted stencil signed and numbered by the artist.
Edition of only 55.
On 60cm sq (aprox) 220gram Vintage Etching stock.
So my guess is the fox is hand stenciled

Ben Frost 🇭🇲 Print Release • Australia • Pop Art, by tommyb on Sept 17, 2014 11:44:59 GMT 1, Alright, so I now feel somewhat obliged to explain my ownership of this piece as I don't want a reputation as someone with a soft spot for abit of beastiality. It is part of a set of 5 fries packets I have collected at different times: For me the 3 in the middle represent all the horrors of the sex industry and the crying women on the ends represent the damage caused by it. I went to Prague for my 18th birthday and being offered a blow job for the equivalent of £5 by a girl down a dingey alleyway who was far too young and far too pretty to be doing it out of choice was one of the most depressing moments I have experienced. It is a day that made me appreciate how lucky I am that I could party abroad in my teens whilst other people in the world had to suck off tourists to line someone elses pockets. Ever since I have never watched porn, stopped seeing women as sex objects and pretty much became a better person for it, so the set actually has a decent amount of meaning for me, just that piece crosses a line for my girlfriend.
