How many artist get to say goodbye?, by Poly Mindset on Mar 2, 2024 21:07:44 GMT 1, It is with sadness in my heart that I am mentioning a great British artist has passed too soon. I did not know the man personally but did appreciate the way in which he lived his life. I did collect his art which still hangs on the walls in my house. Upon hearing the news I immediately went to his website, and this is what I found. I find it sadly beautiful. RIP Dan Hillier and thank you. My dear friends, it is with sadness beyond words that I'm making this somewhat earnest post to let you know that after several months of investigations, tests and procedures, I have life-ending cancer, which has spread throughout my body.
I am devastated to be leaving behind friends and family who are so amazing that I find it impossible to fathom; and a world so beautiful and marvellous that it is incomprehensible. I cannot believe it is my time, and I'm praying for a miracle to intervene and make this not so.
I have had a totally wonderful life, and I feel like I'm just getting started, having lately moved to the magical realms of Dartmoor, which has shone a light on how I feel a life can be lived to its fullest amongst the magnificent natural world; brought an incredible array of new people into my life, and served as a new reality checkpoint from which I see the full amazingness of those close friends I've been living my life with for years, as well as the loving relationship I have with the miraculous natural world that we have all sprung from.
I truly don't know what to say, other than I wish to find a way to live through this and emerge on the other side. Words can't come close to anything at times like this, so l am going to leave this here for now, with no idea of the wisdom of doing so or not.
I love you, I love the world, I love myself.
I love my work, I love those around me, I love all that brings light and life to this existence.
May all beings be free, may all beings know true peace, may all beings live in safety and free from harm, may all beings know true love, and true freedom.

Looking for Shepard Fairey Rebel Waltz Paul Simonon, by Poly Mindset on Jan 25, 2023 21:15:06 GMT 1, I know it's a long shot but I'm searching for Obey Rebel Waltz large format print. PM if anyone has one sitting around that they want to let go of specially if state side. Thanks. 27 months later the search finally comes to an end. It seems these never come out of hiding and obviously there's a reason why. Yes, I paid more than I wanted to but definitely within reason . Persistence has paid off and the fact is, finally I have one and I feel great.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Poly Mindset on Dec 7, 2022 20:54:45 GMT 1, Got lucky today at the Heritage Auction. Picked up this DalEast "Adrenaline" for a very reasonable price. Have wanted this piece for quite a while and it's a hard one to track down. Also it's already framed nicely and although it may increase the shipping fee it still will be less than framing costs. With the economy down, it's a good time to buy.

Blur Think Tank Poster, by Poly Mindset on Nov 30, 2022 19:16:37 GMT 1, Interesting auction at emovieposters.com Yes I have a few pieces in this auction including the Blur Think Tank bus stop poster with blue backside which currently is at $1 (stock photo on this post). There are a couple of other cool art pieces in the auction including a Warhol Soup Can Paper Bag and a Lichtenstein poster from 1969 and many cool movie posters. Don't know if many are into this kind of stuff but thought I'd throw it out there.

Donald Trump, by Poly Mindset on Nov 16, 2022 5:15:15 GMT 1, Ron DeSantis will run and win. He is from a swing state and he just won that state by 20% in the most recent election. He was able to get a majority of the votes in areas that usually vote against Republicans and it seems that minorities that are known to vote for Democrats even like him. The Democrats will make up stuff against him like they were raped by him in 1974 and his former bunk mates from camp in 1981 will say that he likes to Dutch Oven his own farts under the covers. But in the end if NATO and the US are not in WW3 in 2024, he will win. You don't even know who is going to be the Dems candidate so how can you say DeSantis will win? That is just utterly ridiculous. Keep in mind this country is not Florida. Florida is only one small part of this country. Besides I think there are a lot of people who didn't like DeSantis using those immigrant laborers as political pawns. Hopefully, you and the rest of this nation will be able to keep an open mind during this next election and figure out what is best for all of us and not just vote along party lines.

Donald Trump, by Poly Mindset on Nov 16, 2022 4:11:02 GMT 1, Trump going to run for President in 2024 ๐ I just watched his speech live on the news ๐คฃ it's like a comedy sketch! So funny, scary! ๐ณ Question to our American members here, who you you think is your best bet for President in 2024? Well all the candidates haven't announced their candidacy so who could say. Definitely not Trump, what a buffoon. And now he's in bed with the Saudis for some golf course BS. I think Biden is too old. Can you imagine the gaffs during his next term? We need someone new with bright ideas. Where's my JFK?....sounds like a good title for a new piece of art. We'll just have to wait and see. However, I do have faith in the people of this country to move us forward in a positive direction. Time will tell.

Heritage Auctions ๐บ๐ฒ, by Poly Mindset on Oct 15, 2022 22:45:39 GMT 1, 10 years ago big Urban Art Auctions were pretty rare, maybe once or twice a year? It's brilliant to see that now it's almost continuous, from auction houses all over the World ๐๐ป https://www.instagram.com/reel/CjoK1-wM5CY I have to agree and it has really opened up the market for collectors, both buyers and sellers. I personally have made more auction purchases lately and currently have seven pieces in that Nov. 2nd HA urban art auction. I won't pimp my particular pieces but will say that they are some pretty good pieces with low reserves. The thing I have learned with auctions though is to read the detailed description of the piece and the condition report.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Poly Mindset on Sept 28, 2022 0:18:04 GMT 1, Recently picked up something pretty special IMHO. Claes Oldenburg "Soft Saxophone" in blue. Though most would consider his more along the lines of fine art, it got me thinking what exactly is Urban Art? Oldenburg's massive sculptures all around the world are art in mostly urban settings. Though they were commissioned they do for the most part enhance an urban landscape. Where did urban art really begin and who were some of it's earliest artist?

auction houses, by Poly Mindset on Sept 18, 2022 17:51:05 GMT 1, Agree with Poster Bob. If you're going to take them to auction, make sure you choose a lower estimate that (taking into account all fees) you would be happy with. This way, worst case, you will be happy. Don't let the auction houses force you into a lower estimate - they'll often say "oh we've had great success with this [lower] estimate before because it encourages bidding". BS, they just want a sale and so want to see it go for any price ... Truth! As mjolnir notes, this is their general pitch and as such it's imperative you recognize their fidelity lies with the auction house, be very careful. Doesn't mean you can't be successful but ensure you place a reserve that you're fully satisfied with as a worse case scenario. However, a piece is going to go where a piece is going to go. If you set a low reserve and the bids climb up then that's great. If you set a low reserve and it doesn't climb or there are no bids then the market is telling you something. I don't think setting a low reserve should scare you away. Put it in and see where it goes and if you don't want to take that chance you probably shouldn't be in an auction anyways. The thing about auction houses is that though they may be a little expensive they do reach a huge audience of collectors. Nobody has a crystal ball so you have to ask yourself, what is your profit margin and can you give away 20-25% and still feel good about a sale.

Johnny Depp Art and his Art Collection , by Poly Mindset on Jun 10, 2022 23:51:45 GMT 1, I never realized Johnny Depp actually did art himself ๐ณ it's look really good as well! ๐ NFT release. www.neverfeartruth.com/ So if I'm looking at this correctly on the website #17 is currently over $115,000. Whaaaaat?? Not bad for a first timer. For that price tho I think I'll just stay with my Stikki Peaches version of him which by the way I did finally just get framed. It's full of little nuggets including one that says "Bitch Pls" my favorite. How many times do you think he said that to Amber? As in, You took a shit in my bed...Bitch Pls!!!

Alice Bag was/is an LA Punk Icon from the early days of punk late 70s early 80s and was cool as fuck. So I stumbled on this print over at Obeygiant.com. I don't know when Shep released it but it's cool as can be.

Best Urban Art Valuation Websites, by Poly Mindset on Apr 26, 2022 23:50:42 GMT 1, Perhaps this has been asked before, but I'm wondering what are the best Urban Art Websites for auction results and Urban Art Valuations? There are more than a few out there with varying subscriptions but which are the most accurate in pricing? I'm really asking which are the ones most UAA forum members use?

Lucky at HA Auction, by Poly Mindset on Apr 1, 2022 1:39:38 GMT 1, You win some, you lose some. I was out bidded on the RTC original. Congrats your win! Sorry you didn't win. The hardest part of an auction is the cut-off point where you have to stop bidding. Did you see that beautiful Futura that went for $100k? That was GORGEOUS!!! Wish I was rich.

Lucky at HA Auction, by Poly Mindset on Mar 31, 2022 19:16:05 GMT 1, I usually don't bid at auctions but couldn't pass up on this piece. D Face "Kiss of Death" AP on board. Since I already own the study for "Kiss of Death" I thought it would be cool to track the history of this piece and hang them together. They both have magenta backrounds as it obviously hadn't been decided yet that it would be red or purple (venom ed.). Notice the color difference in the tears. Also, I believe it hammered at a great price of less than $2k including BP. Once in a while I think you just get lucky and find a neat piece to add to your collection. Historically, I still think D Face is awesome. When you look at his complete catalog he has done some pretty cool work.

Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine ๐บ๐ฆ, by Poly Mindset on Feb 26, 2022 5:48:20 GMT 1, Nobody blames the whole nation and itโs people simply because of its leaders decisions. The Russian people will also suffer long term for the choices that they never made .There are very few people in this world that want what is happening. Iโm not interested in a political argument at all. This whole thing is a disaster for everyone. All I know is that if any nato nations get involved (attacked) weโre all fรปcked. Yeah, but part of the problem is that by rolling so many of the countries into NATO and the EU from that region, we also tied the hands of most of the countries that would have been "first responders."
I can't believe the Chechans are moving to help Russia on this. What is needed is for the Chechans and Georgians to come to the assistance of Ukraine. Ukraine needs to send some troops into Russia to rattle them.
This is a very dangerous situation which may in the end lead to nuclear weapons (God I hope not). With Putin being the aggressor and the possibility of any kind of hint at nuclear engagement which Putin has already alluded to my question is simply this: How can any Russian citizen believe in what Putin is doing? He is putting all of their lives on the line for his fucked up evil ego. If the nuclear shit hits the fan yes we are all fucked including all the Russians. He is playing with their lives like a toy. I would think there would be more protests in Russia from Russian exclusively for self preservation. Remember that song that Sting did " Russians" I think the Russians love their children but Putin doesn't give a shit about them. So again, how can the Russian people support any of this Putin aggression?

Icy and Sot Molotov Prints, by Poly Mindset on Feb 17, 2022 18:47:35 GMT 1, I have three Icy and Sot Molotov prints available for sale. I purchased all three directly from Icy and Sot. I believe my asking prices are fair based on what the prices were at the recent GP vault sales. Please let me know if you have any questions. US only, as I've had recent issues with international sales/shipments. Black Molotov 15/25. $1000 + shipping Green Molotov AP $1200 + shipping Red Molotov PP $1200 + shipping Can anybody shed some light on the Red and Green variant for me? Not much info out there other than a sketchy blurb that there was a China Red variant ed. of 6 released but doesn't say what gallery or where it was released. Were they released in Norway, if so where? They were not part of the Graffiti Prints release and the Blue variant was released through Spoke Art. Interested in this but need more info. Red and Green are AP and PP and have no COA as seller says he got them directly from the artists which I do believe. Great sales thread though with pictures and prices. This is the way it should be. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Banksy, Dface, Dolk, Hilliar, Penny, Zedsy for sale, by Poly Mindset on Jun 19, 2021 22:23:41 GMT 1, It's a Blur thinktank promo. Not a banksy. Great Dolk though.. stone cold classic. I think that everyone knows that. I just put it like that for the heading. I read the whole argument under that post tho, pretty funny.
