Derrick Adams - New โSilver Liningโ Print 2022, by WOOF on Mar 18, 2022 17:00:15 GMT 1, Thanks for posting this. Seems like a top quality print and especially nice to see him do something other than a pigment print, but hard to pull the trigger when I'm not sure what I'm looking at. Is it just me, I can't make out what that image is supposed to be? Looks like a person walking through a damien hirst exhibit.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by WOOF on Mar 5, 2022 2:50:21 GMT 1, Can't believe Hirst ogs from source go for cheaper than Pejac prints from source. Just shows Pejac is far superior to Hirst and very limited supply, so no big surprise lol, quoting this for posterity.

Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine ๐บ๐ฆ, by WOOF on Feb 25, 2022 18:14:42 GMT 1, The problem isnot only PUtin ( even i he is of course ) ... It's the problem of all Russia : my nephew is married with a Girl form Moscow, all her family is agree with that. Putin is a god for mostly of them, and Russia must be strong and the best ! Even Russian intellectuals working in France love Putin I have had verbal fight with a few of them. It's unbelivable... But yes Putin is a t**t. Please don't spread this shit. Not all Russians are the same, lots of Russians oppose Putin's actions, and you come off pretty negatively for implying otherwise.

Sotheby's Art Auctions โข NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ, by WOOF on Feb 22, 2022 4:20:50 GMT 1, You know New Wave Dave, I thought we wouldn't be able to find any common ground but I was wrong. I appreciate you going deeper with me on this.
>Projects can offer small residuals, or tokenomics, or airdrops that a user can turn around and sell, but what are your really offering that is new here?
I mean, I maintain we're still at the very beginning of this and are only just scratching the surface of what "utility" actually looks like in the space, but true ownership stake in things people support with tangible rewards for said ownership is definitely new. Time will tell if more creative uses for the tech will pop up.
>And the Noun DAO. Ok, there's something of interest, Innovative. I wouldnt say its demonstrating value because you can pool money among folks at almost any time in history but they way it's done, yes, it could lead to some interesting innovations. But for every Noun DAO, there's 10k squiggles or degenerative ape wives. And this is a problem and this is where my beef really originates.
We're actually very much on the same page with what you're saying here. Sure, we can choose to focus on the 10k deriv pfp projects, 90% of which are rug pulls and draw conclusions about the space from that. But we can just as easily focus on the DAO's and things like them, the best of what is currently being created, and see that as the north star for web3. I keep reminding myself that we're still SO early in the space, and it's definitely a bit of the wild west. But that's what the internet was like at first as well. We learned then, and I'd like to think we can learn now.

Sotheby's Art Auctions โข NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ, by WOOF on Feb 22, 2022 1:50:48 GMT 1, You're welcome to dismiss what's happening if you'd like. Comparing it to pogs and beanie babies is an interesting take. Not one I share, but you do you.
Yes, I was referring to ABS, and when you say it's extremely small, I've gotta ask, what do you expect? ABS and most NFT projects are less than 6 months old. Of course it's small right now, they're all still figuring things out. But I own lots of stocks, and have owned clothing company stock, and not once has a dividend from any of them made a measurable impact on my life. It took ABS 6 months.

Sotheby's Art Auctions โข NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ, by WOOF on Feb 21, 2022 23:46:12 GMT 1, Might wanna get used to them and others, they're not going anywhere anytime soon. I'm not so sure. There's a project participant cycle that gets really tiresome after awhile. A real fatigue sets in. And NFTs have really gotten such a reputation for douchebaggery that I can easily see it come crumbling down. Not to mention the fact there is yet still to be any demonstrable value to them after a good year or so of promises. With all due respect, saying things like, "Not to mention the fact there is yet still to be any demonstrable value to them after a good year or so of promises." reveals you aren't even remotely close to, or informed about, the space. I'm not going to bother to list all of the ways you're wrong, but i'll just say as one example, I own an NFT from a clothing brand. That clothing brand recently sent me royalties for using my imagery on one of their releases. The music industry is experimenting with giving ownership of songs to fans. There's also value in the communities that are being created, but since you're clearly not a part of any, you wouldn't understand that.
You say there's a reputation for douchebaggery, but I find the douchebaggery mostly comes from people on the outside that talk like they understand what's going on in web3 but really have no idea.

NEW YORK Framers โข Who do you Recommend?, by WOOF on Feb 5, 2022 17:16:53 GMT 1, Yet you still haven't recommended anyone. I moved out of NY and I think it would be irresponsible to recommend anyone personally since it's been long enough that there should be better options than the people I used. My first call though would be to your recommendation given their relationship with Pace.

NEW YORK Framers โข Who do you Recommend?, by WOOF on Feb 5, 2022 17:07:15 GMT 1, I know everyone wants to find competitive affordable pricing AND high-quality, but I sometimes think that in that situation the quality suffers at the expense of saving some money. Personally, if Iโve spent more than a couple hundred dollars on a piece, the cost of a high-quality framer is worth it. Museum-standard framing will never be inexpensive but it ensures that the piece will be safe. I agree regarding framers taking artistic liberties. I will never go this route, but just cuz Wade Maxx and others (Frame Chicago here in the Windy City) offer that doesnโt mean that they do that for everything. They are capable of doing museum-quality framing without the crazy matte and frame gimmicks. That's fair. For me personally though, I want the place I hire to be known for the thing I'm going there for.
Going to Wade Maxx, who are known for their creative framing, and asking for traditional framing feels to me like going to a Mexican restaurant and ordering pierogies.

NEW YORK Framers โข Who do you Recommend?, by WOOF on Feb 5, 2022 16:34:53 GMT 1, I typically use Rooq which has 3 locations in the city (NoHo, Chelsea, and Tribeca) and I've been happy with them. For me it's convenient, good quality, and competitive pricing. I've been wanting to try Ziello framing in Brooklyn because it looks like they work with a lot of top galleries, but the location is really out of the way for me so I haven't made it over yet. Curious to hear other recommendations. FYI they once used non archival strips on a piece I had framed and it ruined the back of it. I think opening a second (and now third) location was a bad idea for them.

NEW YORK Framers โข Who do you Recommend?, by WOOF on Feb 5, 2022 16:19:04 GMT 1, I personally don't recommend framers that take artistic liberties with framing.
If the artist didn't want the frame to be painted, neither do I. To that end, the best luck I have is by walking into high end galleries/museums and asking who frames their shows.

Faile โข Dog Prints, All Editions , by WOOF on Feb 3, 2022 17:00:57 GMT 1, As I've said in the past, the large number of prints they've put out has hurt their appeal. Their older work has/had a rare and loyal cult following (that very few artists attain), but they've diluted it to a point that not even those people will buy. There's no way they are selling very many when there's only one page of talk about the release in 24 hours. It's felt like smoke and mirrors for many years now. Pre-2008 Faile forever. The conversation has moved on from this forum thanks to the consistent stream of negativity. Thankfully, their real collector base is alive and well, and I'm reminded of that any time I list a piece for sale. I do love pre 2008 Faile. But I think the stuff they're doing now is really interesting as well, and actually takes risks, which is more than you can say for 90% of the stuff posted on here.
