JR Print, Photo, WANTED, by Matt on Feb 26, 2018 9:21:14 GMT 1, I am looking for these JR signed/numbered prints Ladj Ly Eyes Self Portrait Mafia
There’s a mafia print that’s been hanging around on eBay for over a year so I would expect the seller to consider offers ?
For the others good luck, they are harder to find (although I think eyes also popped up on the bay a few weeks back)

Two invader prints for sale, by Matt on Feb 23, 2018 22:10:54 GMT 1, Two Home prints sold on here recently for 4 and 4.2k USD respectively I believe.
Both of them had some damage though, visible in the photos.
The one offered for 4200$ had edge damage that a Bignell would probably charge 250-500£ to flatten out.
Gives an indication of where these sit if mint

Invader Prisoners Print, by Matt on Feb 23, 2018 20:54:04 GMT 1, moron : instead of your frankly baseless assumptions, suggestions for others to take action, and rhetorical questions, maybe you write the email yourself ?
Who knows maybe you will then have something useful to contribute ?

Pejac - Heavy Sea , by Matt on Feb 22, 2018 21:54:47 GMT 1, Ok back to the heavy sea. I think it’s over £4000. Closer to £4500 . Others think less and with few recorded sales it’s up to how much the buyer wants it. Even flags is £5000 + so it’s pejac + a few grand to get a decent unsigned banksy Flags isn't £5000+. I was offered a mint one for £4,000 only last week.
Have been looking for one so I’ll take it. Hit me up with the details

Invader Prisoners Print, by Matt on Feb 21, 2018 13:21:45 GMT 1, These were sold and described as "Invader Prisoner Print" as stated both in your e-mail and Invoice.
If it turns out that State of Play was not authorised by Invader to print these "Invader Prisoner Prints", they are not "Invader Prisoner Prints", they are unauthorised reproductions of Art, a.k.a. counterfeit.
So if that was the case, buyers would have every right to take legal action
Will leave it at that for now, as this forum is not the appropriate place to take action if it turns out to be warranted.

Invader Prisoners Print, by Matt on Feb 21, 2018 12:56:51 GMT 1, Also this is an issue between Invader and State of Play...not with me...i shall not get involved with the legalities of who has or was legally allowed to produce and sell these works. My due diligence was carried out in great depth on this issue and i assure you all stacked up. Not that simple I think.
1 - As the professional seller of these prints you are de facto "involved the legalities" for every single print you sold. Whether State of Play duped you is a complete separate matter, that you can take up with them.
2- Your due diligence surprisingly did not include the Artist himself. Whether it is by intent or simple oversight is also on you, not buyer who trust you as a professional seller of art.
3- The Invoice and email for this print clearly indicate it is by Invader, so if that turns out not to legally be the case, buyers (including myself) have unknowingly bought fakes.
I am not specialised in commercial law, but I would say that odds are not in favour of you "not being involved in the legalities)

Invader Prisoners Print, by Matt on Feb 21, 2018 11:04:22 GMT 1, Every one can do a COA for a print Invader artwork not have COA only invoices
Exactly.
If this was invoiced as a print by Invader, the question is simply whether or not the Artist authorised the print.
If not, the publisher has produced fakes and the reseller sold fakes.
I get the impression though, that although Invader may not be happy with the run for some reason, it is authorised.

Invader Prisoners Print, by Matt on Feb 21, 2018 10:57:50 GMT 1, The COA is pretty irrelevant when issued by publishers, galleries etc...
The only question is whether the Artist authorised the print.
« Dodgy » doesn’t cut it. It is either « yes » or « no ».
So who has any real info on whether or not the print is authorised by Invader ?

Banksy • Souvenir Wall Sections, by Matt on Feb 20, 2018 16:50:16 GMT 1, Loving the new designs !
I finally managed to track down a nicely executed "Cut it out"
This completes my little collection for now : - 2 Banksy stencils (Balloon Debate, Cut It Out) - 2 iconic graffitis from the wall (Love & Hope) - 1 Monthy Python reference (I love that this one includes the "he is not..." mention)

Banksy • Souvenir Wall Sections, by Matt on Feb 18, 2018 18:06:23 GMT 1, seems that price on secondary is function of
- Image : you have your Banksy stencils (Balloon Debate, Cut Out), actual graffiti from the wall (, tons of variations of LOVE & HOPE, one-offs, and weird stuff (e.g., "down the underwear" )
- Size : 2-7
- Execution : Some have nice and crisp images, other are downright sloppy
And off course overall prices are decreasing as these become increasingly available

2 space invaders priced to move, by Matt on Feb 16, 2018 9:13:12 GMT 1, People take stuff off the streets. People cut out walls with stencils on them. Life goes on. You guys are a whole other passionate about the art.
Of course, it’s an integral part of the street art thing.
However that does not mean that you should welcome and applaud people ripping stuff off the street to make a quick buck.
Moreover in the case of Invader’s work there is a very strong chance that you are not even buying the actual street piece which will have been destroyed in the removal or maybe even reactivated

PFS - Space Invader Invasion Silver and Black 2009 No. 50/50, by Matt on Feb 15, 2018 9:30:05 GMT 1, £2500 on ebay? UK ebay? That's a bargain Seller forgot to sell it internationally... I always search for Invader art ("sold listings" too). Can you share the link please, I can't find it. I think gallery price would be 10K, maybe more in some galleries............. But I think this print price is 7-8K Number 50/50, love that Don't sell it for less!
Yeah seller was asking for a local pick up so probably not listed internationally.

PFS - Space Invader Invasion Silver and Black 2009 No. 50/50, by Matt on Feb 14, 2018 17:18:13 GMT 1, I am just saying I would take it at the price you quoted. And yes, I am willing to put the money where my mouth is. Now let's go back to some of your "facts", It is really sad to read (from a collector) that all your arguments and price justification are related to Ebay business. Ebay, man! Nothing else to add there Anyhow, good luck with the sale.
Good. Now we have ascertained that it is at least worth 3.5k (if you actually do buy it) and maybe more !

PFS - Space Invader Invasion Silver and Black 2009 No. 50/50, by Matt on Feb 14, 2018 16:40:31 GMT 1, Historically the prices for these have been in decreasing order Silver VIP (silver with red eyes) > Silver > Red > White > Blue A Red just sold on eBay below 2500, but it has 3 pieces of tape on the back so count 100-200£ to have them removed properly. I would say your print is around 3.5k£ at the moment (depending on how well it was framed) I will take it at this price. Thanks!
You dont like low prices on invader prints do you ?
I have given a price indication, and I have (unlike you) backed it up with some facts : - Red on eBay sold last week for less than 2500, to me. - Silver has always been a bit more expensive than red, but not by a factor of 2 so 5k is a reasonable ceiling - White Invasion on the bay is hanging around at 5k since months and is going nowhere. - In fact ALL the invader prints on the bay are simply sitting there.
So yeah I may be off base, in fact given my Invader collection I would be happy to be wrong, but the facts don’t point in that direction.
As for your constant insistance that the market is strong...let just say that you are a « professional » with an investment to protect and/ maybe a poor buyer who overpays for his prints...

Bhutanese Government Removes Invader’s Work Fr, by Matt on Feb 14, 2018 15:24:52 GMT 1, Once a plagiarist opportunist always a plagiarist opportunist. The thing is that now that many of these anarcho pussy riot type street artists have evolved into businesses with gallery shows selling for big bucks, they rae putting their arty efforts on walls as a form of advertising and self promotion, the same way that McFucks and CocaDollar Chanel number 666 etc etc prmote their goods to make money. So Invader is doing the same and has no excuse for being an idiot out for publicity. Plus the world does not revolve around him.
The only thing more boring than band / artist X selling out, are the predictable pathetic plonkers who have done f*ckall themselves, but feel they need to incessantly point out that band / artist X is now a sellout.

PFS - Space Invader Invasion Silver and Black 2009 No. 50/50, by Matt on Feb 14, 2018 8:56:29 GMT 1, I've had a fair bit of interest in this requesting a price, but not a single straight out offer, if anyone with knowledge of the current value of this could help me out it would be appreciated. Spot on, PINS is a great artist altogether, but this image especially on canvas is really fantastic and an absolute classic

Need to sell collection, by Matt on Feb 13, 2018 11:24:07 GMT 1, If the Invaders are unsigned I would think you are looking at 1-2K per print, and probably even closer to 1 than 2
This is based on eBay (non) sales of similar unsigned prints sonquite easy to check.
Good luck with the sale and the health

CYW question, by Matt on Feb 12, 2018 17:05:31 GMT 1, I would say the more it goes the less difference colour makes.
Early on colors like Magenta, Red were a bit more sought after whereas colora like Light Blue or Olive would hang around a bit more, but today that does not seem to be the case as everything gets snapped up quite quick.
In today’s market I would be more inclined to look at rarity to for possible price differences : something like hand finished, VIP, APs with special colors, ed 25 and ed 100.

Bitcoin, by Matt on Feb 6, 2018 21:17:46 GMT 1, I won’t say I told you so but I told you that loads of money will be lost on poxy bitcoins
Although admittedly you could have said the exact opposite and it would also be true as lots of money has been made.
And with that I have properly outed you Nostradamus 😄

Invader prices dropping, by Matt on Feb 6, 2018 12:11:45 GMT 1, Invader has been on steady rise since he started.
This has always been utterly deserved - his fundamentals and integrity are strong - he has grown a global fanbase over the years that most artists would envy - he has put on great shows - he has done increasingly well in auctions and has a solid following of folks buying originals.
As this happened, a handful of chaps saw an opportunity to boost the trend and make some fast cash on the print market.
The correction is simply a fall back from too much too soon, on the print market.
You could say that the release of two prints in this overheated time was a mistake (the MSF kit was a much smarter idea in contrast), the prints were bought mostly to flip, and this abundant new stock immediately highlighted the fact that prices were artificially high.
Will Invader recover ? I would think yes as everything points to the fact that he is a strong artist, and his originals are selling out immediately on primary and secondary.
Judging the market by the prints is not necessarily the right view in this case.
But the prints are def getting much cheaper so don't complain, now is the time to buy the ones you like

Where does Banksy rank on the Most Influential Artists?, by Matt on Feb 5, 2018 23:53:22 GMT 1, Just for the sake of it then : how does tennis player 37 ATP differ from player 63 ATP, in a way that is meaningful and interesting and merits discussion...because even on a tennis forum I have never seen this discussion :-) Errr that’s an objective based ranking system ie. based on previous results
Yup. Objective ranking system...and still totally pointless discussion :-)

Where does Banksy rank on the Most Influential Artists?, by Matt on Feb 5, 2018 21:10:18 GMT 1, Pointless because anyone who puts Banksy in the utmost influential artists of all time is ignorant, deluded or pursuing some other intent (never explain by malice etc...) Pointless because after the handful of absolute masters, whether you are 37th or 63rd most influential makes no sense as a discussion. And baseless because if we were to assume for a moment that someone really wanted to have this discussion, then surely a starting point would be to define the objective criteria by which artists would rank, but visibly that’s not worth the effort. So no Banksy is not top 10 except definitely for “artist who’s venues serve the best pizza”...and that’s certainly not true of Gursky ! Guess you aren’t a fan of the ‘greatest’ ever sports discussions either :-). I disagree. I think it’s a fun thought excercise. And sure there is a difference between 37 and 63. 63 means you aren’t that important.

Where does Banksy rank on the Most Influential Artists?, by Matt on Feb 5, 2018 20:49:02 GMT 1, Rather than creating yet another thread, I'll hijack this pointless and baseless one to suggest that anyone who can, should go to the Hayward Gallery and catch the current Gursky expo. Biggest collection of Gurskys I remember seeing, with close to 30 huge iconic pieces. The Gallery space lends itself incredibly well to the topic and the visuals, and Gursky's work is simply quite incredible and awe inspiring. Looking at his photos today reminded me how basic and niche the art we discuss on here is Pointless? Baseless? Someone seems grumpy today. Good call on the Gutsky show.
Pointless because anyone who puts Banksy in the utmost influential artists of all time is ignorant, deluded or pursuing some other intent (never explain by malice etc...)
Pointless because after the handful of absolute masters, whether you are 37th or 63rd most influential makes no sense as a discussion.

Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by Matt on Feb 5, 2018 17:27:10 GMT 1, Hmmm guess but then. Wonder if the staff know the actuall number.
Some till system somewhere has registered these so the number exists.
They sell 6-12 of these a day since September would be my guess from being there and seeing how they move daily.
Availability fluctuated, especially at the start, and so did buying rules, but I would think total sales are towards higher end of my bracket, so 10 a day for the last 5 months would be a good estimate I reckon ?

Invader Artwork, VALUATION, by Matt on Feb 3, 2018 22:36:35 GMT 1, If the gallery bought at the peak last year they will likely not be open to negotiate... Prints have gone down by at least 40% since last year’s high. A silver space one would have traded for 13-15k at that time Not sure where you got the 40% down but the market is very strong. Keep in mind that sellers/collectors still cannot distinguish a 2k, 4k, 8k or 20k Invader from the rest. There are more sellers on the wholesale level which is understandable considering majority would like to cash out 10x on their investments. Only time will tell. Until then, I will continue to enjoy my VIP's
There are over a dozen Invader pieces that sat / sit unsold here and on the bay, for months, in the 4-5 k range, which would all have been snapped up over 7 in no time a year ago.
I personally am loving this, and buying again as I am a huge Invader fan
