Invader Artwork, VALUATION, by Matt on Apr 5, 2021 17:07:27 GMT 1, It seems that the Rubrik Kubrick series goes for less than Invaders' other works. Please let me know if I'm misinformed. the non embossed unsigned ones fetch less, which makes sense

VALUATION • Art Valuation Advice, by Matt on Apr 3, 2021 13:23:22 GMT 1, That auction house is well dodgy, but that does not mean the boxset is fake..
The invoice is indeed a copy of the welcome note + resident card + receipt which is strange
However the chap mentioned on the resident card was indeed there on those dates. I know because I was there too and we had a chat in the lobby.
I think he bought dozens of boxes over several trips with groups of friends. He was running some sort of gallery at the time can’t remember the name. It is very possible he is consigning this (but could also be someone making copies)
Also at the time there was no numbering iirc, or pink stamps, or stars etc on receipts. In fact mine looks exactly like that except it’s not a copy.
Not saying you should buy this, but also not sure it’s fake

Fanakapan 🇬🇧 Street Art • Print Release • Art For Sale , by Matt on Apr 1, 2021 21:34:04 GMT 1, If a foreign national walked into a shop in the UK and bought something, it is highly unlikely that the shop would remove the VAT at the point of sale. They won't because the question is not so much nationality but where the goods will be "consumed"
So if that same foreign national declares / proves that he took the goods with him when he left the country, he can in fact claim that VAT back (long process and high fees) and pay sales tax in his home country

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by Matt on Mar 31, 2021 20:40:24 GMT 1, I received an email to purchase one of the single variation Ludo decks (edition of 48) but am not sure if I actually have someplace to hang it. It's kind of cool though, Amy set in a silver framed shadow box? It appears that these didn’t sell out and, this morning at least, could just be bought direct.
Both Clown and the printer and Ludo have said all the Ludo editions are sold out
Whether or not that’s true I have no clue
We will see if the pop back up

Those used to be laid out on the Invader table !
(I could probably be persuaded to sacrifice members of my family for that table )

Cryptik 🇰🇷 Calligraphy • New Print Release • For Sale, by Matt on Mar 30, 2021 21:22:49 GMT 1, Bought the skate deck from his last release Took a century to arrive in Switzerland, lacked the right paperwork and was a hassle to get through customs, but most of all it arrived a mangled mess. Was obviously wrapped before being dry, paper had stuck to it, deck was full of scratches etc... chucked it out Never again Stickers were nice. Gave them to the kids at the skate park That sucks! However, surely a piece of wood that is meant to get scratched up and destroyed could have been put to its intended use rather than thrown away?
it did
Put it out by the bins someone will have picked it up

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by Matt on Mar 28, 2021 18:16:56 GMT 1, I like these Ludo decks
Clear that Clowm are surfing on the early B connection but so what
I went for the diptych. Always fancied a piece by Ludo and never found one I liked enough, but these 2 decks work for me, and the t-shirts, stickers and custom box set were a nice plus

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by Matt on Mar 28, 2021 8:22:15 GMT 1,
And in how many of these cases is a director of the auction house the source of fakes ?
And in how many of these cases were there tens or even hundreds of fakes from said director sold through dozens of channels over several years ?
And in how many of these cases were underbidders of these fakes contacted with a second chance to buy the item when they were actually being sold another copy of the fake ?
Add all of this up and it looks a lot more like malice than stupidity.
Or if it is stupidity, it is of the most extraordinary level

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by Matt on Mar 27, 2021 12:19:01 GMT 1, so that’s it? they get a pass? cause they paid back, at cost, most of the money they defrauded ppl out of? so the PB i bought in 2018 that would b worth 4k now (a real version at least) they gave me back my buy price of 650£ n that’s that? no harm no foul? they get 2 reinvest all that stolen money into real banksy, watch it appreciate, sell at massive profit, then refund some ppl n we’re good 2 go? business as usually? man i should move 2 the UK, things run wayyyyyyyyyyy different in nyc, but in UK ppl who own, co-own, whatever, auction houses r allowed 2 rob hundreds of thousands of pounds thru trackable public auction house n private sales, the same ppl, n there’s ZERO repercussions? sounds like the fkn wild west 2 me.... plus the fact u guys that know this 4 fact, live out there right next 2 these guys, see these ppl in the real world, n still chose 2 do business with them? wow, just.... wow. Matt I can see you are unhappy with this situation and acknowledge it has left you out of pocket. As you can see from the article Toshspice posted Sotheby’s refunded their buyer the price he paid as we have done for you. We also went above that to refund your framing costs. So whilst I understand it’s frustrating and the only place that frustration can be directed is at us, I believe we have acted in good faith in our efforts to resolve the situation for you and others in the same position. As a final point I’d like to ask if the value of the PB was now below your purchase price would you have accepted a refund at that level? I assume the answer to that is no.
Sorry but you don’t get a pass, you need to accept you fully deserve all the flack and 100% of the suspicion that you can’t be trusted.
You are an auction house through which a HUGE volume of OBVIOUS fakes were sold.
You either - lack the basic skills to do your job (spotting a terrible fake) - or you are complicit (especially since the fakes all come from one of your directors)
Refunds are reparation, not absolution

Banksy • Souvenir Wall Sections, by Matt on Mar 13, 2021 21:51:10 GMT 1, Absolutely agree These are souvenirs from the hotel not banksy artworks They only make sense if they display something that was on the wall or at least in Bethlehem, not some banksy piece that was originally in London🤔 Love hurts was on the wall in presidential suite, above the bed
Tenuous at best
The piece has much more link to BOTI and NY

Banksy • Souvenir Wall Sections, by Matt on Mar 13, 2021 21:39:18 GMT 1, I personally do not like the girl with balloon on wall pieces, as that is more of a gimmick. It was never placed on the wall or nearby, similarly the Love Hurts balloon. For me the art on these wall sections have to be ones that are/were on the actual walls, I am less bothered about the Peace Dove, as that is on the side of a building in Bethlehem, and not on the wall. Call me a purist but I feel exactly the same way

Tate Ward have proven to be either incompetent or a bunch of hacks, or both.
You have to be nuts to buy anything from then

Clown Skateboards Guest Art Project Ludo, by Matt on Mar 4, 2021 13:32:33 GMT 1, Really don't think these will sell many..... Happy to be proven wrong But the only reason most people buy Clown Is to flip the Banksy related gear
You’re probably right, but this is one of the best pieces by Ludo I have seen recently so there is probably a market for this small edition and the price is about right for what it is

Damien Hirst H9 • The Virtues, by Matt on Feb 27, 2021 19:11:46 GMT 1, Evening all, Looking to purchase one of the edition to hang and enjoy, however I will be using cash that was destined for my shares Isa. I may need to sell in say 10 years for the kids education. My question is does anyone know of any previous drops that were a large edition and how they matured? I’ve done some research but can’t find anything, so trying to decide if I like it enough to forgo share appreciation/dividends.
Kid : Dad, can I go to Uni / College ?
Dad : no sorry, all the money went to some flat trees on dibond we chucked out a while ago cause they looked naf
In short : Don’t do it

Lazemporium, by Matt on Feb 16, 2021 18:57:15 GMT 1, Looks like Laz bought the soup cans poster from that fake Spain seller on eBay. Even his re-up of the Petrol Bomb alludes procurement. So what, he is authenticating items now no longer from his collection? It's a fair assumption he's probably buying from various places, including eBay, and "authenticating" them based on his knowledge (and hopefully because he has other copies he knows are real and can compare!) Not sure these match those Spanish posters on eBay though. Tube on his has the correct looking labels, etc. Looks like it's a mix.
Some of his stuff is rare and not seen/sold anytime recently in galleries or ebay. Could be his stash, mates contributing stuff etc...
Some of his stuff is definitely ebay. Whether his "authentication" has any weight I'm not sure

Invader “Prints on Paper” Book , by Matt on Feb 11, 2021 17:59:56 GMT 1, Right !! And we have this informations since couple of weeks too but we waiting that Artist communicate before. We just respect that, i think it's normal ... I've purchased from SoldArt Previously with 0 Issues. It's a book for pete's sake. Sheesh.
Same and agree
@dmatt you’re barking up the wrong tree. Do a bit of research on previous sales of Invader books / DVD in France, and you will see everything here is as standard as it gets
Luckily you are free to buy from whoever you want, but why not tone down the « sketchy » and « scam » etc when you maybe aren’t too clued up as to how these products are sold

Invader • Earth, Moon, Neptune, Mars, by Matt on Jan 26, 2021 21:07:31 GMT 1, If you are talking about IK18 you absolutely can find below 10k Euros I may be wrong but I saw an auction result somewhere some month ago at 18 k gbp, happy to be corrected
You are right, but these results are not replicated in private sales
At that same auction you mention a green sunset sold for 20k+ yet you can snag one for sub 8k on eBay without negotiating

TOP 10 BANKSY TAT, by Matt on Jan 24, 2021 21:07:52 GMT 1, All the DIY stencils in various magazines (Bizare, Sleazenation, Creative Review, Flaunt) are brilliant
POW XXL stickers are bloody nice
HAND Poster from Sleazenation was a great image and works so well on white background
The prices paid for these today are dumb, but still very cool pieces
On the other hand I know Royskopp was hand stencilled, but always thought it looked a bit crap
