Conor Harrington • Transformer, by kapusta on Dec 12, 2016 22:21:49 GMT 1, Hide & Seek remains the best, followed by Grab Your Guise. This one is nice, but is definitely the weakest of the 3. The color palette of the previous 2 were more pleasant. Wonder if they'll be bumping up the price like the last release.

DFace • Union Jacked Print, by kapusta on Dec 8, 2016 18:53:16 GMT 1, Unless it's "love her, hate him", which is possible considering its the same dimensions as the b/w version from the misprints show, I'll be sitting this one out. Everyone wants "Love her, Hate him." He's keeping that in his back pocket as an emergency release when his popularity drops. At least that's my theory for all his weak prints.

DFace • Union Jacked Print, by kapusta on Dec 8, 2016 18:24:19 GMT 1, I hate the secrecy behind these Dface print releases, but you can't deny that it builds hype.
Bend Embrace was his last great print release. He's got a lot of great images to choose from, but he tends to choose the poor ones. Let's see what we get this time...

THE CAGE OF THE BODY TO THE SOUL (New Sandra Chevrier print), by kapusta on Nov 29, 2016 20:23:22 GMT 1, Not feeling this at all. I haven't been crazy about this style she's taken on. I much prefer the style used in her pieces from 2013-2014 with loose brush strokes. This feels overrefined to the point where I'm getting hung up on the details; her neck/jaw area feels unfinished, the glossy teeth bother me, her nostril looks huge, etc.

New Pose Print - Couples Therapy...Coming Soon, by kapusta on Nov 23, 2016 17:50:19 GMT 1, Most people weren't included on the sale yet, some are waiting for a shot at a hand-finished edition, others are holding out to decide if they should buy, a bunch hate the wonky eyes, several are burned out from Pose's quarterly releases, and the rest are broke as f$%&.
Me, I'm still deciding what to do...

Martin Whatson • Still Life 2 Print, by kapusta on Nov 23, 2016 17:41:08 GMT 1, I guess there's nothing for them to add. This is probably standard practice in this scene. You can peek into the inventory count of most Shopify sites (though there's probably a way to hide this), so only now are we getting a glimpse behind the scenes. I've been pretty fortunate to score some in-demand Whatson's from GP before. I can only imagine how many of those were held back too.
Really wanted at least one Still Life from yesterday's drop. Not for the flip, but to keep. Hopefully some of the remaining copies surface at a fair price for the rest of us.

Snik Canvases 11/22 3 PM UK, by kapusta on Nov 23, 2016 17:33:51 GMT 1, Love those large "Falling Back" canvases. Hope that becomes a print at some point, I can't afford these at the moment. Unfortunately, the quality on "Jumping Girl" doesn't look as great. Hope the photos are deceiving.

New Pose Print - Couples Therapy...Coming Soon, by kapusta on Nov 23, 2016 0:01:51 GMT 1, This one has grown on me a lot since I first saw it. Here's what I make of it:
The focus appears to be the couple with the man touching her chin in reassurance. Behind him appears to be a woman's shadow (infidelity?) and her "wonky eyes" imply something isn't right/she senses something's wrong. Whether a story was intentional or not, IMO this has more depth than I gave credit.
Now everyone can proceed to laugh at me for finding meaning in a Pose piece.

Martin Whatson • Still Life 2 Print, by kapusta on Nov 22, 2016 17:45:12 GMT 1, i had MW #1 in my cart and all the way through to payment. i just decided not to purchase as it wasn't a "must have" image for me. were SOLD OUT messages appearing when clicking "complete order" button or before in the checkout screens? Carted one, refreshed my checkout screen (w/ stickers in cart), after hitting Complete Checkout it was gone. Wonder when the "5 min checkout" kicks in, because it certainly didn't kick in for me. Perhaps trying to bypass steps messed things up.

Martin Whatson • Still Life 2 Print, by kapusta on Nov 22, 2016 16:49:55 GMT 1, Here you go. I took screenshots of the inventory before the drop. If you thought it was impossibly hard to score one... well, it was. Prefab added for comparison. Honest collector here just wanting a fair shot, so when I see stuff like this, it turns me off. free image uploadI think that inventory quantity is the number of stock left. At the moment (sold out) it is 0 These screenshots were from 15min prior to the drop. I don't have a time stamp because I ain't showing everyone my desktop. Privacy, and stuff.

If you thought it was impossibly hard to score one... well, it was. Prefab added for comparison. Honest collector here just wanting a fair shot, so when I see stuff like this, it turns me off. free image uploadBest keep some back to flog on, and some for good collectors, get over it already, its life. You're right, I'll just buy Pose's new release and get over this one. GP always came across as transparent, which I appreciated. I just wish they'd say, "Hey, only half the run is available. The rest are going to Martin to sell in the future, and we'll sell the remainder for x4 the cost at retrospective shows for the next 5 years." Sorry, my snarkiness came out. Set some realistic expectations.

Martin Whatson • Still Life 2 Print, by kapusta on Nov 22, 2016 16:26:20 GMT 1, They went to the gallery re-sale bots, of course. I don't mean to put GP under fire, but their instagram said the whole run was up for grabs with no pre-sales. I understand holding 5-10 back for retrospective drops, but over half the run held back??

Martin Whatson • Still Life 2 Print, by kapusta on Nov 22, 2016 16:21:37 GMT 1, Only 30-35 were available of EACH. If you add .js to the URL, it tells you the inventory count in the code. That means less than half of both editions COMBINED were actually for sale... explanation?? I took screenshots for proof.
Super disappointed.

New Pose Print - Couples Therapy...Coming Soon, by kapusta on Nov 22, 2016 2:03:28 GMT 1, I'm a huge Pose fan. I own 8 prints by him, which says a lot. Carted the HF version of this and decided to pass. I like this image, but I don't love it. I prefer the more portrait style images. His compositions are so busy, there needs to be some semblance of a focus. This doesn't quite have that for me.
I do wish he'd slow down the quarterly releases OR release something dramatically different like his gun prints.

Mr. Jago Small Paintings and upcoming print release, by kapusta on Nov 12, 2016 20:41:13 GMT 1, I emailed Jago about APs of The Wraith a month ago and hesitated when I saw the markup. But when I saw his instagram post today, I panicked and emailed him immediately to purchase one. Really excited to see this one in person.

New Hush Print - Halo (coming this month), by kapusta on Oct 20, 2016 13:32:07 GMT 1, has anyone going for the single print had the bank transfer email yet?
Yup, and now I'm considering passing on this release. Such a hassle, wish they'd sent a PayPal invoice or something.

Cleon Peterson "Endless Sleep" print release, by kapusta on Sept 28, 2016 17:39:53 GMT 1, I have to say i'm pretty happy with Cleon's recent releases: - Marchers: kind of wall friendly, with hieroglyph-like vibe - Into the Sun: eventually some colours:) - Return: really like the way the space is used in this print - Endless Sleep: very wall friendly but still very much Cleon style, traditional ornament vibe I agree, Cleon's been killing it lately. I would even add 'Judgement' to this list, one of my personal favorites.
