Shipping Logistics Question Re: Insurance/Damage, by I Woke in Relief on Mar 23, 2017 21:20:22 GMT 1, Seller had mailing insured for 5k. Should buyer expect to get full refund and keep damaged print? ... Agreed with what others have said - but I'll also add, and this 100% depends on the extent of the damage, but it's likely that the insurance is not going to pay out the full cost of the print, unless the print is just completely destroyed. They're probably going to make the seller get a restoration quote, and play hardball from there.
So, if refunding the buyer, the seller should expect the print to be returned, as the seller is not going to be made whole through the insurance, and is only theoretically whole through whatever they get from the insurance + the returned print.

Artists You Might Not Know, by I Woke in Relief on Mar 21, 2017 14:47:04 GMT 1, This just rocked my world. Artist: Craig Damrauer. I had a shirt (in blue) with this on it back in college. Still quote it to this day. Had never seen the actual piece, or an artist attached to it though - thanks!

Mr. Dob Murakami ComplexCon, by I Woke in Relief on Mar 17, 2017 18:45:17 GMT 1, As far as I can tell everything is painted - I can't see any stickers at all. Also, one other note - these are really solid/substantial - the set shipped at 23lbs, so they have some real heft.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by I Woke in Relief on Mar 7, 2017 15:13:25 GMT 1, But I think it looks great as a backing, the framer has done great job!! I think it looks great!
I put the paper from mine in a random box containing "art detritus" that's accumulated over the years. Not sure if I'll ever use it, but I hated to toss it.

, by I Woke in Relief on Mar 6, 2017 22:03:53 GMT 1, $30 dollars/per night for the bunkbed shared room $300 dollars/night for the biggest rooms $1000 deposit per person I think the deposit is just for the bigger rooms, right? The site indicated a longer check-out process while they check the art in the rooms, which seemed to only apply to the large rooms (and wouldn't work for the $30/night rooms, as they appear to be shared).

Martin Whatson โข Behind the Curtain Print, by I Woke in Relief on Mar 2, 2017 16:12:28 GMT 1, Quote from GP on email earlier ; N.B - Shopify - you have 5 minutes to check out, after you click add to cart you must click the RED CHECKOUT button on the page that comes next, if the prints are in your basket then you have been successful. Yeah, I know what they said. It's entirely possible they didn't even know about the change - this is their first drop they've had since it happened, and seeing other galleries' responses to the change over the last week, none of them seemed to be informed when it happened, they only became aware when their first drop-post-change happened and had people crying foul. Like here.
Or maybe they knew and got a kick out of lying to all of you.

"edit: this applies to all shopify storefronts now - it's a shopify change, and has nothing to do with GP."
The change happened in the last week or two.

Secret Santa 2016 - the Chat Thread, by I Woke in Relief on Feb 26, 2017 15:03:43 GMT 1, Ah you're more than welcome. You didn't have to make a post, but thanks for the nod and I'm glad you liked the annual! I've received a lot of kindness from many members here on the forum (including a recent Harland mug from Morfx ), his act was completely selfless, it really is a stellar community. Regardless of what people think, I can't see that changing any time soon. People make the place and there are a lot of legends here. Harland mug? Where are those available from?

Harland Miller โข Happiness The Case Against, by I Woke in Relief on Feb 10, 2017 15:28:28 GMT 1, I love everything about this piece except for the words...bit of a tough thing to overlook Oh man..I really love the text on this one!! You could read it just as, (paraphrasing), "The case against Happiness" and leave it at that which I totally understand just appears as a bit of a downer... Bear with me as I am half a bottle into as**tty bourbon... The best part of Miller's body of work to me will alway's be the personal meaning that each piece will represent to observer. If you don't connect with the text it is admitidly a tough sell. I believe that many if not most people that have lived a decent portion their lives have had many life moments that in sum could present a "case against happiness". The last 18 months for me personally have been some of the most challenging of my life so far. I have lost one of my longest friends, an Uncle, and step father all to Cancer. I lost 2 Grandmothers, My Mother had a stroke, My Brother passed away at 42, and a week before Christmas we lost my Mother in law. When I look at this piece by Harland I am instantly reminded of all of it.. I am reminded that at times I have reason to be unhappy as does everyone.. but I also see that the book is closed with the prominent cover text being the word HAPPINESS brightly colored. I look at it as having the choice to keep the book open and choose live in a world where I can let my own personal "case against happiness" overshadow my case FOR happiness or I can continue to live life, struggle now and then with what life throws my way, fill pages but actually close the book after each chapter and get back to a focus on the happiness that life actually does has to offer. This work seems to well capture those everyday experiences that make life both fulfilling and merciless sometimes. Anyway.. just what I see there and why I like it. Back to the swill. Yeah, I think the prominent way to read it is "The Case Against Happiness".
But, I think you can also read it as a riposte/rejoinder to a lot of "why do you do [insert whatever non-immediately-apparent-value-add-activity-here]" / "why would you spend so much money on a print of a book" type of response - it's kind of a "I hear what you're saying, but on the other side of things: it makes me happy" type of response. Happiness is the case against the negativity.
To me, this one is too immediately read as the negative, which is why I didn't try and get on the list, even at the higher price point, but I can see a positive reading in it.
I'm sure it's going to look fucking amazing though, and I'm going to regret not buying one.

Harland Miller โข Happiness The Case Against, by I Woke in Relief on Feb 9, 2017 14:53:40 GMT 1, I can't think of a single Harland Miller print that was ever released that wasn't tiered. I have bought from both Reflex and White Cube and neither were tiered. Reflex is tiered - when I was shopping for my "Who Cares Wins" print, their response certainly had the price based on how many were left in the edition.

Harland Miller โข Happiness The Case Against, by I Woke in Relief on Feb 7, 2017 19:36:33 GMT 1, This and "Hell..it's only forever" were actually my 2 favorite of the new covers at the Blain Southern show. "Tonight we make history" was still my number 1 from the show. I'd be all over a "Tonight we make history" print.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by I Woke in Relief on Feb 4, 2017 21:59:30 GMT 1, Just put this up in my three year old's room: It reminded me of her the first time I saw the piece. Blimey, that's dark n heavy for a toddler ๐ณ Just sayin........ ๐ค I agree as far as the completed/tagged piece goes, and wouldn't have picked it up if I couldn't get it blank.
But I don't have any issue separating the piece here from the original piece.
As it is here, it's just a girl who looks like her, with a stuffed animal like hers - and covered in paint like she frequently is. (Plus we watch football together)
