Fine Art Logistics - NYC to London, by Eastend Boy 13 on Mar 15, 2024 13:47:38 GMT 1, I have a quote to transport a work of art (sculpture) from Sotheby's NYC to London - just wondering who people recommend from this type of service, as I'm new to this type of transaction? Also, options for storage of this piece on arrival in London until I find its permanent address/home? Are different companies known for being expensive/inexpensive/specialists etc? Thanks

Damien Hirst - The Beautiful Paintings, by Eastend Boy 13 on Apr 11, 2023 10:29:32 GMT 1, I've just decided to purchase - always at the last minute! - the site appears to be US-specific, including postage and taxes - is that correct or am I using an incorrect link for the UK? (apologies if this is covered earlier in the thread....) Do you mean that is charges in dollars despite being UK based ? Heni have charged in dollars for a long time. Ok that may explain it - its been a while since I bought anything from Heni

Anish Kapoor 🇮🇳 Sculpture • Exhibition News, by Eastend Boy 13 on Jan 26, 2023 1:53:16 GMT 1, Designed and created as part of Tate’s 2000 project At Home with Art, the Teardrop lamp offers a chance to own a piece of Tate history. Giving off a warm, pleasing glow, Anish Kapoor’s Teardrop lamp is both a functional domestic item and a work of sculptural beauty.
In collaboration with Homebase, the At Home with Art project invited nine leading British sculptors – Angela Bulloch, Tony Cragg, Richard Deacon, Antony Gormley, Anish Kapoor, Permindar Kaur, David Mach, Richard Wentworth and Alison Wilding – to design an object for use in ordinary homes. Conceived by then Tate curator Professor Colin Painter, the project examined ways people relate to objects and images in their homes. The artists began their task by visiting a household, and exploring the ways that objects were used and displayed.
At the end of the design and production phase, the artists’ prototype objects were exhibited together in a single room display at Tate Britain from 15 November 1999 to 13 February 2000. The objects – from sculptures to shower curtains – were mass-produced and sold at both Tate and Homebase, giving domestic audiences the opportunity to own a purpose-designed piece of contemporary art.

Theaster Gates and The Black Monks, by Eastend Boy 13 on Jan 18, 2023 22:44:37 GMT 1, Individually wax stamped art edition of Theaster Gates’ ‘Furthermore’
* Hand signed and numbered by Theaster Gates
* Recorded live at the Spriegel Museum, Hannover 2018
* Pressed on 180-gram heavyweight black vinyl
* Theaster Gates’ mask etched onto one side
* Outer and inner sleeve artwork by the artist
* Limited edition 50 copies worldwide
Theaster Gates and The Black Monks’ second release on Black Madonna Press, the artist’s joint label with The Vinyl Factory, is a mesmerising live jam that fuses the jazz orientated spiritualism of his musical collective with the groove-based metronomic beat of their native city Chicago’s house music legacy.
Pressed on heavyweight black vinyl, with an exclusive etching of one of Theaster Gates’ new mask artworks on one side and images of these striking works on the outer and inner sleeves, the record is also a celebration of the artist’s new museum exhibition, Amalgam, which opened last month at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
In an astonishingly short space of time, Chicago-based artist Theaster Gates has incubated compelling new models for legacy building, social transformation, and making art. Encompassing sculpture, painting, ceramics, video, performance, and music, his art both derives from and sustains ambitious urban renewal projects, creating hubs and archives for black culture, which serve as catalysts for discussions on race, equality, space, and history.

Cats was originally created by Ai Weiwei with his son Ai Lao to mark the opening of The Liberty of Doubt exhibition at Kettle's Yard, and features their pet cats Maple and Birch.
“I like cats very much because of their independent character, alertness and understanding of human beings; I have feelings approximating to reverence for them. Cats have been regarded as psychic animals since ancient times, no matter in China or Ancient Greece. What’s even more interesting is that if a selfie of mine would be seen by 100 people, a cat photo would be seen by 1000 people. I believe that everyone can share this happiness.” – Ai Weiwei
