francis bacon: a brush with violence, by l17 on Feb 5, 2017 19:09:54 GMT 1, I wish I had seen this before visiting the Bacon exhibition @tateliverpool - I would have given me insight into those 'dark' images. Fascinating!
It makes Tracey Emin's bed look a lot less controversial:

Recommend a classic tv series, by l17 on Feb 5, 2017 15:44:19 GMT 1, I came face to face with one of the Triffids at Longleat in 1983 and watched as it was slowly torn apart by kids over the two days of the Doctor Who 20th Anniversary event, Dominic Hide's flying saucer suffered the same fate. The last surviving triffid was smuggled out of a skip at BBC Elstree Studio in 1985 when the stores were being cleared to make way for the Eastenders set. (Unfortunately a skip containing the 60's TARDIS and other treasures went to land-fill before it could be emptied by BBC staff who were under threat of dismissal if anything was removed.) The last Triffid was restored by a collector and recently appeared on stage in Brian Pern's Day of The Triffids arena show.

Recommend a classic tv series, by l17 on Feb 4, 2017 19:26:45 GMT 1, As I used to write for TIMESCREEN I will offer you shows that would could never be commissioned now because they were too original:
1. The Owl Service (1967)
2. Children of the Stones (1977)
4. Quatermass (1979)
3. Escape Into Night (1972 - Black & white as no surviving colour copies are known)
Try not to watch these alone.
Any one who is interested in the Owl Service might like to keep on touch as I'm helping to organize a tour of the film locations in Wales this summer to mark #OwlService50

Tracey Emin Print, Original, WANTED, by l17 on Feb 4, 2017 18:05:19 GMT 1, Want to Buy a Tracey Emin embroidered napkin. Please PM details. Thanks If you can get one grab it now. It looks like prices for Tracey's work from The Art Car Boot is starting to climb again following the announcement of her 'sabbatical' and the Emin International website going down. It is unlikely that we will see any more napkins or 'neon' editions at pocket money prices.

Peter Blake Dazzle ed150, by l17 on Apr 26, 2016 20:50:27 GMT 1, Popped into the Liverpool Biennial Office last week - they have now sold their last copy of the print - the framed example and don't have one in their archive - the edition was created to help fund the Biennial so could not justify keeping a print when the demand was so high.

Eine "Celebrate" Print - Jealous - Big Issue , by l17 on Apr 10, 2016 19:49:07 GMT 1, I'm with you guys! ยฃ999 what a joke! I hate lazy flippers. We were lucky to get number 1 of an Emin edition but the lazy flippers keep using the image of number 1 on their E-Bay listings, so we keep getting accused of flipping our prized piece. Grrrr!

Eine "Celebrate" Print - Jealous - Big Issue , by l17 on Apr 10, 2016 19:44:23 GMT 1, Yep I don't disagree with you. Eine's prints are always great in the flesh and I have two hanging in my living room. Big fan of his work but his work isn't even flip worthy and prices flop so low that if you need to sell his stuff you tend to be lucky to get your cost back out of it. Definitely a buyers market for Eine. On a side note I know someone who went and queued up for these at 7am. Bought them to sell and start investing in art. Hilarious! Plus the guy is a total cock anyway so I'm just enjoying this even more!!!! Could not agree more that photos just don't do his work justice. They are so nice in the flesh (..or paper). Absolutely love mine. Still mulling the Vandal. Love the red.

Eine "Celebrate" Print - Jealous - Big Issue , by l17 on Apr 9, 2016 15:59:10 GMT 1, I just grabbed another set while they are available. I traveled down from Liverpool yesterday to join the queue. I might have had second thoughts if I knew I'd still be able to get copies on line but I got the opportunity to chat with friends we've made in famous queues of the past and afterwards I picked up number 1 of 30 of a Gavin Turk edition from the Freud Museum London which I didn't know about. So all in all a grand day out and I got a generous glass of wine from Jealous before I headed back to The 2008 European Capital of Culture.

Peter Blake Dazzle ed150, by l17 on Mar 5, 2016 18:23:35 GMT 1, It's definitely classic Pop Art Blake - none of that wishy-washy collage stuff! A big thumbs up to the forum! I'm in Liverpool and didn't know about this print. Thanks to UrbanArtAssociation I managed to bag a print on Tuesday just before they sold out. Popped down to the Liverpool Biennial yesterday but not all prints arrived yet. I'm surprised that this large edition has sold out so quickly. Bid Dazzle Fan
