Banksy Flying Copper Print, by agu on Sept 17, 2016 17:00:11 GMT 1, It a very good knock off/ back door/thing/ whatever. Comparing the high res to my print (with COA) I can find no obvious differences ... even in the detail of the over spray on the badge antenna, visor etc. The grey looks a little lighter but that could easily be down to screen/cameras/lighting. If you like Banksy, want to enjoy the art but cannot afford it, this is one way to get close.... a bit like a tribute band I guess.

Framing: Museum Glass vs Art Glass, by agu on Sept 15, 2016 8:23:39 GMT 1, The % are minimal as it only refers to a portion of the spectrum that we cannot see. I.e uv. The entire spectrum contains energy that can cause fading but it would be silly to block visible wave lengths, as it would ruin the appreciation of the art.
UV accounts for 50% of light damage. Normal windows remove 57% of the UV already so 21.5% of the damage done to your art is UV the rest of the spectrum doing the remaining 88.5%.
So if you get 90% protection you prevent an additional 18% of damage 70% you prevent and additional 14%. So you only really gain 4% for your bucks. Over 20 years this might matter but far more important is the light source.
Contrast this to the source of light. Direct sunlight is 100,000 lux (lumens per Sq meter), full daylight is 10,000 lux. And overcast day 1000. Ambient lighting in the home is 150 lux (general /mood) to 500 lux (task lighting). Management of this will help across the entire spectrum not just the UV portion so.
So NEVER allow direct sunlight to fall on your pictures. No matter what glass you have it will destroy your art. After that any UV glass choice is fine (IMHO)... curtains, if you can bear them, work the best. Really valuable stuff interior or north facing rooms/walls .

For Sale Stik , by agu on Sept 12, 2016 16:31:05 GMT 1, I just checked what fees would be on £6300 and it looks more like £250 not £800. Admittedly PayPal would charge too. Are seller fees relevant?
Something is worth what the buyer pays - assuming they are not being hit with hidden / unexpected costs. I certainly worry about "cost to me" not what the seller gets.
If some-one bid £6300 that means that there is at least one other buyer at £6200 to bid against them.
I would say £6-6500 is a fair informed market value....
Disclosure: I own a STIK print

'Do I Smell Burning !', by agu on Sept 12, 2016 16:20:23 GMT 1, Sounds great!
The thread got me thinking. The link between cigs and rock and roll in solid, so .. why do we find having a picture of one un-attractive vs say a gun or a hypodermic needle? it it because smoking something "I would not like" vs the others, that are things are "outside of my life"
Sorry to highjack. Love the work

Pejac • Seppuku Print, by agu on Aug 31, 2016 0:28:49 GMT 1, in fairness to the op "don't ask don't get" there are not many Suppuku's about...prior to Linea I was on a major "Pejac tip", the desire to complete the collection would have at least started the conversation. The rest just haggling. It is a great print that looked amazing in the wild.

Trade: My Banksy for Your STIK, by agu on Aug 31, 2016 0:21:52 GMT 1, Sorry to all the people who pm'ed me asking for a sale price, I just have not had the time to respond to each one. The prices offered have been fair and generous however I am hoping to use the piece as bait to wrangle a lovers out of the woodwork so I am not going for a straight sale just yet. Also like I say I would want to risk losing the "re-entry visa"granted by the art police when a piece leaves the house. The sale would create "funds" which in turn creates "things we need" a category within which art seldom features.....

Trade: My Banksy for Your STIK, by agu on Aug 29, 2016 13:19:51 GMT 1, Did you read my first sentence? The OP clearly would not make this offer if he cared a lot about the market value for his FC. Stocks are ALL about market value. I don't think that comparison really applies here, as a result. If, for example, the OP bought his FC for $200, many years ago, don't you think it'd be easier for him to trade it for a Stik that sells for $5K now? I'm just making up numbers here. Of course, the logical course is to sell the FC, get market value ($8K, whatever it is), make an offer on a Stik and maybe have cash left over at the end of the day. However, in this case, the OP clearly does not care as much about the market value for his FC, and just wants to trade for a Stik. If this still doesn't make sense, I'm probably just from Mars. All ready good points. My approach to art is as more emotional and aesthetic than it is financial. I buy shares but see that as the a " purely rational pursuit of gain". I'm not looking to give money away and would assume most trade might need some "balancing" of sorts. At the end of the day I love Flying Copper, the wife and the kids LOVE STIK. So as a family we will get more "out of" a Stik, maybe that could be seen as better value or use of funds?

Trade: My Banksy for Your STIK, by agu on Aug 28, 2016 22:02:52 GMT 1, From my side I'm happy to balance with cash. Plenty of offers to buy but hoping the deal will shake a lovers from the tree.
I don't have a signed Queen vic... Is a signed Banksy swapping for a lovers realistic?

Trade: My Banksy for Your STIK, by agu on Aug 27, 2016 16:39:16 GMT 1, Thanks for all of your comments. Its is interesting to witness the passion that both artists raise, so my consideration of swapping a old "banksy" for "the new banksy" (he really is you know) was bound to be a conversation starter. I have enjoyed reading all of them. I have created a thread on art trades to dig deeper into the topic. Please join in.

Just so you know I have not lost my marbles. I LOVE flying copper, it is a vastly undervalued classic banksy. And though many were produced, how many survive is a another matter...
All that said my wife doesn't like it as much and is gently nudging for a change. Simples.

Art Trades/Swaps the went well or badly, by agu on Aug 27, 2016 16:37:03 GMT 1, Having kicked of a discussion by suggesting a Banksy / STIK trade, I have been impressed by the discussion, so I thought I would start a thread.
What trades have you made? Looking back was it a good / bad deal for either side? Why.
Why bother with a trade in the first place. Ultimately would you have been better off selling the piece and using the cash.

KIDULT Pop-up show in Tokyo, by agu on Aug 27, 2016 16:28:47 GMT 1, Nearly 700€ for some fucked up lego block? I've seen better value inside the Chanel Shop! 50€ would be expensive. I get the commentary but where is the art? What is the subtle twist that helps us see the world in a new and hopefully enlightening way, or just feeds the soul. Where is the skill or craft in the execution?
Dull blunt hypocritical commercialist crap. I surprise myself with the harshness of my tone...time to lie down.
