Zedsy ๐ฌ๐ง Street Art โข New Print Release , by bentheartfan on Aug 6, 2016 17:05:43 GMT 1, Too many people with special interest. But.... Flippas gonna flip How is this ascertained? I ask as I am genuinely curious.
It was a small release, initially only 90, and I see 5 on ebay. VS something like the new Brainwash where there are already a couple dozen up on ebay.
I bought one that I intend to frame & hang up (IE I'm not a flipper or collector, just someone with a few pieces of art on my walls)

Zedsy ๐ฌ๐ง Street Art โข New Print Release , by bentheartfan on Aug 6, 2016 16:00:20 GMT 1, I don't know which statement Zedsy is making, with the reduced sticker considering this print is being hyped to re sell for more than the retail, drop price. I'm a newbie here so this may be an obvious answer, but how is this print being hyped up, vs other releases? Is it a reference to the artist putting it up at Tate ala Banksy ? Is it a reference to how this post hit 8 pages ? Personally, I like that the artist kept the print affordable at under 50 quid, vs many releases I see that start at multiples of that on the primary market.

Zedsy ๐ฌ๐ง Street Art โข New Print Release , by bentheartfan on Aug 6, 2016 15:58:21 GMT 1, Is the Zedsy can produced from an original painting or done in another way and the reduced sticker added before the screenprint is made? I presume there is no original artwork for this screenprint as in had drawn and painted. Maybe someone knows if that is the case. Ploppi, I'm not sure, but maybe these pics from his IG give some insight ?

Zedsy ๐ฌ๐ง Street Art โข New Print Release , by bentheartfan on Aug 3, 2016 0:31:22 GMT 1, Not to get too philosophical...but I think the discussion that has taken place around the divided opinions is undeniable proof that this is art because it was able to elicit such responses. It sounds good, but I wonder if that argument actually holds up. How else would you define art?

Zedsy ๐ฌ๐ง Street Art โข New Print Release , by bentheartfan on Aug 2, 2016 22:21:42 GMT 1, "This post will be hard-hitting" Respectfully Met, I think you are overestimating the impact your reply may have. You are certainly entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine, however I think you are off base on most of what you write. No matter, c'est la vie. You are spending so much time reading into and ascribing motive and meaning to my comments. I find that fascinating ! Thanks If you really believe he is off base, why not respond to the points that you feel are off base instead of just dismissing them? Because it was a huge post that would take a long time to respond to and I don't want to spend that much additional time arguing about art on an internet forum. I find it very interesting that there are people who are bothered about what I like or don't like - my preference or disdain for a print doesn't affect anyone else's ability to enjoy it. There is a lot of art hanging in museums I don't like, and a lot I do like. There is also lots of art that my wife doesnt like, that I like. It isn't about which one of us is right, it is about what I like or what she likes. I don't argue with her about why she does or doesn't like something, what would be the point ?

Zedsy ๐ฌ๐ง Street Art โข New Print Release , by bentheartfan on Aug 2, 2016 16:32:07 GMT 1, Great print and great price will be nice set aside the bAnksy Soup can
I was considering buying a Banksy tesco can, but I decided I liked this one more ! More cheeky commentary on Warhol - and it's 10 cents on the dollar compared to the homage that Banksy did, just like the Reduced sticker indicates.
Out of curiosity tabtab, why are you selling your zedsy poison apple ?

Zedsy ๐ฌ๐ง Street Art โข New Print Release , by bentheartfan on Aug 1, 2016 11:17:44 GMT 1, Given that Zedsy's soup can is not an original idea, does this therefore really render it worthless, or lacking in artistic integrity? If so, then where does this leave the work of artists such as Hirst or Turk, and those that use Disney and Star Wars characters, or geometrical op art stuff? I initially liked the Zedsy print in a superficial way, colorful, well executed, and humorous, but it has also, at least for me, raised a heightened awareness, of what I perceive as a double standard. Given the rise in food banks, food waste, the ever rising cost of living, a lack in pay raises, austerity and so forth, I think that Zedsy's take, although not original, is never the less, a timely one. Zedsy's image is as relevant now, as Banksy's was then. Do people even think about Banksy's work these days, or has it become purely about having, rather than being? Its an honest question, if a cynical one. The fact that it is so obviously not original, makes it all the more thought provoking. Why has the artist produced this, what is this communicating, what does this mirror or reflect, if anything? I'm not irritated, I'm curious.
I find it difficult to believe that someone would be naive enough to do this, without realizing it would get slated. I struggle to believe that this has been so well produced, just purely to be associated with Banksy, or even out of desperation or stupidity. It would certainly be very sad, should that ever prove to be the case.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, and prepared to give this piece and Zedsy the benefit of the doubt, but for me this piece has started to talk, and that's a very personal thing. Please note, that I wont be buying one, as I will be completely devoid of technology, when it drops, due to being in a particular location. If I were to buy one, it would be because I believe that it has more worth than a purely monetary value. Art is thankfully a broad church, and I wish all the very best to those who are't trying to hype, and wont be buying just to flip. Those who truly appreciate something, for what it means/says to them, the contemplation and thought it provokes. Good luck. Good post and enjoyable read. It's entirely fair to raise these questions when looking at the print in isolation. But one can also consider it within the context of: (i) earlier rehashed or cheesy works produced by Zedsy; (ii) the circumstances in which his first print was released (i.e. an apparent desperation to be associated with Dismaland); (iii) the copycat museum stunt; (iv) the parasitic signature style; and (v) the ripoff logo design. From this broader perspective, it would not be unreasonable to conclude Zedsy is just one of many coattail-riders trying unsuccessfully to emulate their heroes. samfrost summed it up well here with his description of "me too" art. De gustibus non est disputandum...
I find people's critique of art fascinating. Saying it is unoriginal - such a funny thing to comment on ... I do not believe Warhol invented the design of the Campbell soup can, nor Banksy the Tesco can, nor did Rembrandt invent the people he painted in the Night Watch.
The fact that Daniel David didn't invent the mitsubishi logo doesn't detract from this as a piece of art.

NEW Shepard Fairey Print Release, by bentheartfan on Jul 18, 2016 22:51:18 GMT 1, Yeah, lots of it all pretty much the same as he's made before. He's more of a Xerox machine than an artist. He just finished painting the sides of several large buildings in Paris. Seems to be still an artist these days.

NEW Shepard Fairey Print Release, by bentheartfan on Jul 18, 2016 15:21:59 GMT 1, I have a sincere question. Why does he sell these for so cheap? There are so many, for so cheap, that one wonders whether it is going to hold any value at all. It is not a question about flipping or buying for profit. I have a similar concern with the Faile. Without scarcity, it is hard to rationalize investing in a nice piece of art. This is a nice edition, with a nice image from two wonderful artists, but I do not understand the value. Thank you in advance for any sincere answers
The artist isn't focused on making I investment worthy, they're making art.

Banksy pieces on display at MOCO in Amsterdam, by bentheartfan on Jul 9, 2016 1:24:44 GMT 1, Hey, when you assume ... you seem like an ass. I am no one's promo team... I am an art fan who was at the gallery in May and decided to post the pics as I hadn't seen some of those online yet here. (and I did not purchase a plate, nor anything in the gift shop) You may not be Lionels promo team but you dont do yourself any favours with the little snide comment you made regards Castle Gallery. By your own admission you are new to this forum and that being the case you'd do well to learn a bit more on some of the members and what they are about prior to posting pap comments. Hi I wasn't the one who posted about Castle Gallery and their website... just in a thread I started ...

Banksy pieces on display at MOCO in Amsterdam, by bentheartfan on Jul 8, 2016 2:59:25 GMT 1, When putting on a "Banksy Exhibition" there should be at least some core level of understanding of the artist, theres been a lot of "Banksy Exhibitions", overall its been complete disregard for the artist, all about the money/ego. Whereas this demonstrates "some core level of understanding of the artist" and isn't just "about money" at all then is it? I wish my living room wall looked like those walls

Banksy pieces on display at MOCO in Amsterdam, by bentheartfan on Jul 5, 2016 22:14:37 GMT 1, Lee3, I appreciate that answer and explanation, thanks.
When we were there (May 2016) they had a Tesco Soup Can poster for (I think) 1250 Euros, that was sold - not sure what it had sold at, but they said it sold on the weekend. It was the least expensive of the Banksy works they had. Seems pricey now that I know it is a poster, not a print etc , but it sold - so I guess that is some validation of the value (although I don't know if it sold at a discount to the ask).
They offered a Soup Can print for โฌ 8.500 when we were there.

Banksy pieces on display at MOCO in Amsterdam, by bentheartfan on Jul 5, 2016 21:03:33 GMT 1, Good luck and a bit of caution as Lionel seems to be a phishing operation disguised as a gallery. I didn't realize they owned or operated the Moco museum as others above mentioned. But, that now makes perfect sense since that museum installed a street piece (Heart boy) in their garden a couple months ago. When I read about a street piece being purchased and displayed at a museum, all I could wonder is what is wrong with that museum? Few, if any, other museums in the world would install such a piece for obvious reasons. Glad to finally connect the dots. As a newbie, maybe this is a question with an apparent answer, but what do you mean that they seem to be a phishing operation disguised as a gallery ?
When we were there two months ago, they were very transparent that the Museum was set up by the people who owned Lionel Gallery. When I inquired with Moca about the price of a Banksy, I ended up speaking with the Lionel Gallery side, it all seemed very above board.
Not everything on display at Moca when we were there was available for sale by them, but some of the works definitely were.

Banksy pieces on display at MOCO in Amsterdam, by bentheartfan on Jul 5, 2016 12:53:08 GMT 1, Does anybody know who it actually belongs to? I presume the museum have it on loan. Most of the pieces at Moco were also on display at the Lionel Gallery sale of last year. Moco is also being set up by Lionel Gallery, I believe.
Yes, Lionel gallery owns / runs Moco
Does anybody know who it actually belongs to? I presume the museum have it on loan. Most of the pieces at Moco were also on display at the Lionel Gallery sale of last year. Moco is also being set up by Lionel Gallery, I believe. Yes, Lionel gallery owns / runs Moco

Banksy Print, Canvas, WANTED, by bentheartfan on Jul 5, 2016 0:58:30 GMT 1, For a Golf Sale backdoor print check on ebay, I saw few are around The prices seem really steep for the two that were up! Two sold for over $600 Canadian, and there seem to be some others trending above that. Especially as you obviously can't verify if its real or not
