Art books collection sale... LONDON meet ups possible, by frankiefrench on Aug 14, 2017 23:13:35 GMT 1, Robert Longo - rarity. Big figure in the 80s NY scene, very nice piece. Never seen one before. Oh and GLWTS! Still a giant with huge influence. All those Apple adverts with dancing figures... Inspired by Longo. His charcoal drawings are a thing of beauty and simply out of this World. If you don't know his work check him out. I'm well familiar with his work and a host of the other notables from that scene, it is quite the obsession of mine since I discovered Keith Haring in the pages of Time Out magazine and The Face in 1984. Recently picked up Art after Midnight and the New used & improved books. Bump.

Martin Whatson / Pure Evil Collab - Arthur Millers Nightmare, by frankiefrench on Jul 23, 2017 22:32:19 GMT 1, Way to go, amazing. If only I could be 'intelligent' enough to appreciate this high art form of scribbled pretend graffiti, man you must be SO intelligent. Now everybody be good boys and hit 'like' every time the virtue signalling circle jerk cranks up in order to shut down all forms of actual criticism of garbage recycled imagery. How dare we have opinions on here.

Martin Whatson / Pure Evil Collab - Arthur Millers Nightmare, by frankiefrench on Jul 19, 2017 21:16:26 GMT 1, So which part is by who? P E does a load of faux graffiti scribble in the backgrounds of his pieces anyway, leaving this collab looking like any other of his without any assistance required, in fact identical to the piece he did near to **** at White Cross 2 years ago, he finished in about 20 minutes flat. Personally I feel that P E has flooded the market with shonky stencil face things, minimal effort, they dont set me on fire. You already self immolated by not knowing who did which part. Couldn't be more obvious. Its just another load of scribbly jank by a wannabe graffiti writer. Couldn't be more obvious.

Adam Neate Red and White Self Portait, by frankiefrench on Jul 19, 2017 0:17:23 GMT 1, Absolutely, there was always a ton of street pieces all over the floor in little piles and stylistically he would jump around trying out different portraits, childlike houses and even phrases and words. Total artist, nice dude and he used to skate so he's all good in my book. You make an interesting point about Elms in that you suspect there has been some negative impact. While I dont want to start guessing or anything, I have heard similar muttering and rumour. Which brings me to my last point, personally I totally rate him and I feel his understanding of the wider history of art, his subject matter AND handling of materials, paint etc make him one of the top boys in this country to come out of the 'scene' If his work is not making a ton of money then that is an injustice.

Robert Del Naja Print, Canvas, WANTED, by frankiefrench on Jul 18, 2017 19:21:13 GMT 1, Having hundreds or thousands of posts on an internet message board shouldn't really be considered a positive. Now on to real discussion: LOOKS: Everything you said about the way he looks all comes from the Simon Hattenstone article in the guardian. So you have one article. The same article with this passage..."How do I know you are Banksy? "You have no guarantee of that whatsoever." Your next claim (and my personal favourite): "Some of us know why and dont ask for details." HAHA Presumption is a strong point of yours or you have a crystal ball, and I quote "Everything you said about the way he looks all comes from the Simon Hattenstone article"
'Claim' ? I havent made any claims, I just put you straight on a couple of things. For one I dont know of anyone called Simon Hattenstone or of any article and my comments about the way he looks, come from, wait for it, the way he looks. Not all of us sit on the internet all day thinking that we can unravel so called mysteries via the search engine. By stating 'ha ha' its as if you dont believe anyone could possibly know these things, you think he lives on Mars?
Bizarre.

Robert Del Naja Print, Canvas, WANTED, by frankiefrench on Jul 18, 2017 16:43:29 GMT 1, If I can what, prove it? He doesnt look anything like Del Naja, similar voice yes but then they come from the same region.
The nickname was earned from introducing himself to girls at parties as Robin Banks.
You appear to be in the new camp of thinking it might be the same person. Save yourself some time, it aint him. Some of us know why and dont ask for details.

Adam Neate Red and White Self Portait, by frankiefrench on Jul 18, 2017 16:32:10 GMT 1, So I guess I was right in that things have devalued somewhat, though I had no idea prints were hitting 5k a while back. Thanks Aza. I didn't mean to suggest that street pieces and the pitfalls associated with them had devalued the prints but rather the actual street pieces themselves which are now almost worthless without verification which he wont provide and never has. I sold all mine early on, I mean he used to give them out like candy for lifts in cars and swaps for favours in general.

Banksy in the Daily Mail, by frankiefrench on Jul 18, 2017 2:40:22 GMT 1, Yep, dumbest thread ever. Why is it dumb? Cause you know who he really is? I think its stupid that people think it might be 3D. 3D is better looking.

Robert Del Naja Print, Canvas, WANTED, by frankiefrench on Jul 18, 2017 2:32:58 GMT 1, I'm sensing something fishy going on here. People with less posts than they've got fingers and suddenly generating a fever pitch gold rush for 3D prints. Sounds like the sort of media prank that B***** would pull off to help out an old mate. He's very generous like that and is happy to play the art buyers at some game.

Grayson Perry ๐ฌ๐ง Ceramic โข Tapestry โข Exhibition News, by frankiefrench on Jul 18, 2017 1:59:05 GMT 1, Perry is living the dream in that he is not only performing the true function of a contemporary artist but is a rare case of somebody fully recognised and celebrated for their contribution in their own lifetime. He is in part social commentator, devils advocate and true bohemian creative workaholic. I think we are lucky to have somebody so switched on to our times and with the natural abilities to hold a mirror up to them without feeling the need to speak like an arse who has swallowed a dictionary. Great artist and I get the impression that he is also a damn nice bloke!
Certainly one for the diary, cheers for the heads up.

Adam Neate Red and White Self Portait, by frankiefrench on Jul 18, 2017 1:49:36 GMT 1, Stunning? I dont feel stunned by anything other than the insane price tag, I actually thought this was for an original. Somebody didnt get the memo that values of Neate plateaued some time back, some might say they even went down and that is certainly the case after a spate of fake 'street pieces' hit the market.
