Pรธbel ๐ง๐ป Norway Street Art โข New Print Release , by Jaylove on Nov 5, 2022 10:16:46 GMT 1, These are ridiculous prices for editions from an artist like pobel. There are hundreds of stencil artists, at least go for someone whoโs lasted a decade with this style Just doing what every other artist has been doing and trying to capitalize off the wave. Will be hard times for them coming.

Flipping Art โข The Debate, by Jaylove on Oct 29, 2022 13:55:38 GMT 1, I think very soon many artists will be begging for flippers to buy their work, in fact the way things are going you're going to see both galleries and artists get a lot less picky. What many fail to grasp is probably a majority of collectors are in it for the money or at least have one eye on it, once artists remove liquidity from their market there will be fewer collectors willing to put their hard earned money into their works. The number of buyers willing to lock up tens, hundreds of thousands, even millions of dollars with no scope of being able to recover it if they want or need the money, are going to become pretty thin on the ground in the near future. Iโve been saying this. And it will indeed happen. With asset prices falling and liquidity getting dried upโฆyou think people are going to still spend obscene amounts of money on these artists without much return? Not happening. This is why I stopped buying this year. See what happened to NFTs? I expect the same thing with most artists.

Hebru Brantley, Michael Kagan, Kenny Scharf, Jammie Holmes, by Jaylove on Jul 25, 2022 4:38:17 GMT 1, Kagan's market for prints, figures, etc has really taken a hit. I've been following him for a while and it's strange to see his market be so quiet lately. These V prints were trading at $5-10k unframed at one time. Because he was feeling himself too much. Prices have been insane on his releases and this coming from someone who really likes his work and owns some pieces.

Sandra Chevrier Watercolors July 9th 12pm E.T, by Jaylove on Jul 8, 2022 4:10:52 GMT 1, I'm not a fan of her work, but in regards to pricing, I think many Artists now seem to be testing out increasing their prices, maybe to put off flippers? Maybe to put themselves into a different bracket of Artists? Rather than prices and values in Hundreds, they want it to be in Thousands ๐ it's a risky game to play, but I guess it's paid off for some, so it tempts other artists to try. I don't think they care about flippers. They're just trying to get paid paid paid paid paid paid paid paid

Martin Whatson x Sandra Chevrier Prints, by Jaylove on Jun 18, 2022 13:13:31 GMT 1, I'm sorry, but the image is just awful. I like MW and am "ehhh" on SC, but this just seems like a money grab. seriously, a wavy hair-do and MW's tags? We're not trying to teach our nation's children how to read here, but c'mon...a little effort into the image would be nice... Money grab is what it is and has been for a while. What will it be next year? Same thing, higher price. Nothing new and refreshing to the table. This is exactly what Iโd ask for if I was managing these two.

How will the stock market woes impact the art market?, by Jaylove on May 13, 2022 21:18:56 GMT 1, Exactly how I feel and wha tI've warned in the past. Now we get to see wha the real values of pieces are. Looking forward to the cheaper prices No one ever talks about how the 2008/2009 bailout broke apart the natural economic cycles that we have always lived through in order to create this superbubble. It's not good. I would even say that this has all the hallmarks of a manufactured crisis (due to the sideshows going on - oh look over here, now over here, everyone get angry and ignore the profound financial crisis until it is too late) which creates an opportunity for the table runners to clear every last penny out of the normal folks' pockets. I would not be surprised, to be honest. Way too convenient.

How will the stock market woes impact the art market?, by Jaylove on May 13, 2022 5:55:24 GMT 1, Inflation incinerates (your) money in a bunch of ways. They printed and printed and printed. Now we are going to go through a period where what you have (had) mysteriously disappears. Regardless of what assets you have tucked away (art, stocks, crypto, real estate, etc.) we all take a hit. If you had 1 million in Netflix stock in November, you have 250k now. I doubt you are going to run out and buy art with what is left. So, there are fewer buyers and decreased demand. Someone will probably chime in with using art as a "safe haven," but there is no getting around less money, shallower pockets/ war chests, less money spent on art, fewer bidding wars at auction, etc. If most people can save less than 20% of their income per year, what happens when there isn't 20% to save? They certainly aren't going to buy art with money they don't have - actually they might until their credit is max'ed out. After that, a fire sale on mid- to lower end art happens as they try to cover their monthly expenses and minimum payments. As of Tuesday, 40% of Bitcoin "investors" were underwater with their investment according to a nameless faceless internet source (which of course, may not be accurate, but sounds plausible). How will the stock market woes impact the art market?, by Jaylove on May 12, 2022 16:14:21 GMT 1, The market has been on a break neck run the past little while with artists, flippers, galleries, etc inflating a bubble helped by a booming stock market, the rise of anything-coin and asset values overall rising like crazy and cheap credit.
those days seem to be ending as banks all around the world are tightening. Markets from housing to coin bases, NFTs etc are tanking. Job losses are being predicted was there are hints of a global recession approaching.
Where do we see things going? Will prices drop?

Michael Kagan ๐บ๐ธ Helmeted Astronaut Paintings โข Brooklyn, by Jaylove on May 10, 2022 23:37:38 GMT 1, Each release the price gets more and more ridiculous. Are past releases fetching that a high a number anyways? It's wild to me that just a few years ago his prices were like $300 now it's over 10x that.
Might as well take a last shot before recessions hit us all around the world.
I say this as an owner of a couple works of his.

Tavar Zawacki - New Print Release, by Jaylove on Apr 23, 2022 0:01:23 GMT 1, I think some of his work looks pretty good but thereโs something about this that just makes me think of Paul Kremerโs glacier (29/30?) piece and I cannot shake it. Iโd rather have the latter but realise we are talking quite different prices. Much cheaper price. Why not?

Iโm Pregnant! Advice please (art, obviously haha), by Jaylove on Mar 26, 2022 3:36:19 GMT 1, Congrats! Better get some sleep now because you won't be getting much of it the next several years.
I know this is about art, but make sure you don't let your baby get into any bad habits. Sleep train as soon as you get a chance.

Jose Parla โข The Founders, by Jaylove on Mar 25, 2022 12:52:59 GMT 1, Nice mark up!! I remember reading this was the gallery that tried ripping Logan Hicks off a lot of money. He had to take them to court. Wow. Thatโs shameful. So itโs not about pricing the going rate. Itโs about picking some random obscene number and hoping some dummy buys it.

How The Mighty Have Fallen, by Jaylove on Mar 24, 2022 13:16:18 GMT 1, I am big fan and there are one or two prints I still like of his work. But it is how the system works though, styles change, art goes through phases and hype fades etc. Say from ten years ago there are many artists where their prices have declined, but there must be thousands of artists from decades previously where their art commanded big sums and now their originals and prints can be found cheap. Makes you wonder what will happen to the many $4k prints which were bought during covid and rich people spending big on originals. Crazy money was spent a print. Increased prices are not sustainable in hard economic times, which looks like happening all over with tightening up. There will be bargains to be had perhaps in coming years me thinks. ๐ค Have always said this. Letโs see what happens when the market turns and artists, galleries and slippers canโt use smoke and mirrors to price manipulate.
