Johnston America, by Johnston America on Jun 27, 2013 13:23:29 GMT 1, I have a few new pieces up on eBay with a starting bid of only .99 cents. (Shipping to the UK is listed at 50usd, but I will certainly refund the difference to any board member if actual cost is less)
These 2 pieces painted on wood feature a smaller sign on wood on the top that hangs on hooks. It's reversible, so you can switch it any time you'd like - 2 pieces of art in 1! I made the frames myself from an old oak tree that blew down years ago near my home.
You can see more pics and details on the bay: tinyurl.com/nzxxrfd
Thanks everyone!!

Johnston America, by Johnston America on Apr 3, 2013 14:32:17 GMT 1, Hey Everyone -
I just finished up my latest pieces on wood - The Old Crow Hill Brilliant Idea Co.
I made 11 blue, 11 red, 11 green, 10 grey, and 9 yellow. They come fully framed so you don't have to spend money on framing and you can hang yours up the day you receive it. They are about 16" square and "dirtied" up a bit to make them look old.
I also printed up a few T-shirts with the grey background and if you buy a painting you get a FREE shirt! The framed painting plus the T-shirt is priced at $50.00 + shipping.
You can see more details on my webpage here: Old Crow Hill Brilliant Idea Co.
I'm giving away one of these + a shirt this Sunday on my Facebook page - If you'd like a chance to grab one of these for free all you have to do is "like" my page and leave a comment below the picture you'll see there.

Collecting Pottery & Ceramics, by Johnston America on Feb 17, 2013 18:44:01 GMT 1, Hi Speebe - It's actually a blend of 4 different types of glazes, though none of them are crystalline or ash.. The effect you see that looks like it could be either of those types is actually a glaze that is formulated to run a bit, which is a great way to achieve those swirling effects and blends that look like ash and crystals... All cone 6...
Good eye!

Collecting Pottery & Ceramics, by Johnston America on Feb 17, 2013 18:08:50 GMT 1, Thanks so much for the positive comments, it means a lot to me! It took me several tries to get the glaze to behave the way I wanted to make it look like a night sky, but I finally got it.
These really are a labor of love, there is nothing better than having my hands in clay! (Unless they are covered with paint - almost as good!)
Thanks again! -Rob

Johnston America, by Johnston America on Oct 4, 2012 20:56:50 GMT 1, One of the nice things about the Secret Artifact paintings is that they aren't huge. They look fantastic in those small nooks around the house where a larger piece of art just won't fit. Here is my Snake Oil (Secret Artifact 1) hanging in our dining room - right between 2 windows. The perfect fit! I framed all of my own personal Artifacts with a simple black frame on black foamcore board - no glass or mat. I think they look sharp that way - and it keeps the costs down. All in all, a great way to add some spark to a little space that was bare and boring before!

Johnston America, by Johnston America on Sept 24, 2012 22:12:25 GMT 1, Thanks so much for taking the time to comment elwheel, and for the compliment - It's very much appreciated!
I certainly have put many, many long hours into each piece I make - but I have never been afraid to roll up my sleeves and get to work. I believe that the finished product shows how much effort I put in, and I'm never satisfied with a quick or makeshift process. Why rush through a project just to get to the next if the outcome is not good?
Thanks again - You made my day!

Johnston America, by Johnston America on Sept 24, 2012 12:56:05 GMT 1, Secret Artifact #4 now available - "King of Coins"
This design is based on a playing card made by the Apache Indians of the American west in the 1800's.
It also carries some meaning as a Tarot card design, and I feel whoever owns one of these will attract wealth and abundance! ;D
The card is cut out of a separate piece of heavyweight paper and mounted above the background, so it "floats" and gives the appearance of an actual card instead of just a painting of a card.
The fourth in my "Secret Artifact" series - Only 25.00 usd + shipping - If you buy more than one artifact from my website, you only pay shipping for the first one.
You can see more here: johnstonamerica.com/Folk%20Art%20Gallery.html
Thanks! - Rob
