Is this the end of banksy?, by Gentle Mental on Jul 30, 2012 4:47:34 GMT 1, more worryingly, is the work getting better?
glitter ape/walking haring's dog... less biting, too refined and considered i think.
plus there isn't a solid number 2 to help prop/boost the scene.
and the presence of MBW and money people of Opera flooding and milking the market's not helping to add any cred...
founded mostly on hype and greedy flipping, and very little history (comparatively) it's easy to forget how fragile and unstable this "market" really is.

I am done with Edition Populare, by Gentle Mental on Jul 15, 2012 9:33:02 GMT 1, i've waited for 3 months. I have not received my posters and book. I've asked for a refund. And they said they have to check with the post office. And they are taking over 3 weeks to check. And still no answer. I think this is really bad. I still have hope in kindness of galleries. As we are all in this for the art. I really hope they give me the refund.

Herzog & de Meuron and Ai Weiwei Print, by Gentle Mental on Jul 5, 2012 10:24:05 GMT 1, "after the rain, the world becomes a big mirror" is what ai said (bad translation) about the piece. very very pretty.
on the print, i think it's more than blueprints. it's like watching great minds think. chess movements. it's beautiful just staring and imagining their thought processes.

Steve Powers 🇺🇸 ESPO • New York Street Art • New Release, by Gentle Mental on Jun 27, 2012 4:39:34 GMT 1, would've immediately pulled the trigger if it were $125, but for $475... i need to know there will be no more colourways, re-szie, pow edition, simpler form, cheaper price etc...
or if there are going to be, please make it all known up front.
he did it twice already with shit and you me.. upping the edition...
i know the intention is kind, and he is a great great artist, but it's not good for collector's confidence especially at $475...

Mobstr 🇬🇧 Street Art • Print Release • For Sale, by Gentle Mental on Jun 17, 2012 17:10:01 GMT 1, Except ian stevensons style is childish. The style takes away from the fun, it turns into a knock knock joke.
the difference between these apples is ian and shrigley's been doing it for ages with more soul, personality and artfulness.
they are all knock knock jokes. using a san serif typeface don't make you more "mature" and er... "adult contemporary"

MIKAEL-LOVE BOMBS. UP NOW!, by Gentle Mental on Jun 15, 2012 9:45:00 GMT 1, Little google chucked this up, Britain is more CCTV'd than ... nearly twice the cameras for a far smaller population www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1205607/Shock-figures-reveal-Britain-CCTV-camera-14-people--China.htmlProbably. I visit Singapore quite often, and no its not nearly 100% CCTV'd it might be for someone who doesn't paint a lot of graff, I'd say its under 5% CCTVd so go out and leave a proper mark, paint some proper walls, and don't make it sound worse than it really is in an effort to sell some weak art with a bit of 'danger' PR.
CCTVs in Singapore are not googlable and more "sensitive" than most - and they are vital in keeping the city safe and happy - is all i want to say on the subject - (can we not talk about this bit anymore? sorry I brought it up)
And apologies if it looked like i'm trying to make Mikael more "dangerous" looking. I am a chicken s**t myself as I had near brushes in my younger days and didn't enjoy it - is all i want to say on that subject, so I was suitably impressed with Mikael's little art trip.
My point: Mikael's a good friend, and a talented artist. Quite clearly, though he likes street art, he is not a graffiti artist.
He paints canvases, loads of them. so much so that he gives them away very openly.
You don't have to like Mikael's work. Some really don't. But please don't let cynicism take over this thread. Let it be a discussion about the idea, the work.
Hideous or beautiful, Mikael is doing what he believes in, and it gives him a mad, focus spirit that makes them appealing to me and the guys at HF.
