Banksy • frAGILE • Legacy of War Foundation , by Balboa on Dec 16, 2022 13:36:05 GMT 1, its a bit strange as it says Registration ends on Friday 16th December @ 12pm GMT which is in 35 mins also its a very long shot but I would add shop@legacyofwarfoundation.co.uk as an email to my safe senders in the Ts and Cs this is the email mentioned so it may well come from there 12pm is midnight not noon. pm stands for 'post meridiem' meaning 12 hours 'after noon'.
Technically that’s incorrect.
At 12 noon the sun is directly over the meridian and is therefore neither ante nor post meridian. Same at midnight.
It’s therefore 12 noon or 12 midnight.
12.01am is early morning and 12.01pm is early afternoon.

Invader • 3D Little Big Space • Sculpture, by Balboa on Jul 18, 2022 22:15:19 GMT 1, I sold one for cost because I got lucky in the queue and wanted to help someone who missed out. I would rather be kind than intelligent anyway. Why buy 2 in the first place if you only need one? The 'kind' thing to do - that other members (myself included) have done - is to leave it for another collector to purchase from source. EDIT: On another note, I have seen it times and times again on this forum, some people are trying to downplay the importance and value of this item to try to get as many as possible for cheap and flip the hell out of them. Not that I care really I have one and have no intention of selling it, but it always makes me laugh the little manipulations taking place on this forum.
I didn’t buy two. I only bought one.
And I made sure it went to someone with forum history - so I guaranteed it went to a collector.

You should not be charged duty, assuming they send delivery duty paid. This doesn’t protect you from VAT though.

Invader • 3D Little Big Space • Sculpture, by Balboa on Jun 30, 2022 18:41:37 GMT 1, I got one. It’s available at cost (which in £ after exchange rate/shipping/duty is £479.16).
Anyone I have dealt with before has first dibs.
Anyone who can collect from me (near Cambridge) is second.
If none of those can be met. I will go to the messages I received after my last post.

Will sell for cost if that’s the case. I’m British and just like queuing
DM me if you miss out and are desperate for this.

How are people framing these? as they're a loose canvas
They can be stretched onto a frame if they have the unpainted border.
That being said, I have two that are painted to the edge. One is (carefully) stretched onto a frame and one is float mounted behind glass.

Banksy Love Rat unsigned , by Balboa on Apr 21, 2022 20:49:23 GMT 1, Very nice and seems like a bloody fair price. GLWTS 👍🏻 I could kick myself for hearing that £52K in now a considered a fair price when I sold one for £800 back in the day
Mind you, looking at the bright side, Banksy sold them for a lot less than that

Banksy Toxic Mary, Virgin Mary Print, by Balboa on Feb 12, 2022 13:34:58 GMT 1, Nothing was concluded last time, so I thought I’d put this out there again to see if any of the nibblers want to bite this time around.
My kids do my head-in, so I plan to blow the proceeds in Vegas this May rather than there be a chance of it becoming their inheritance.

Leasing/hiring art, by Balboa on Feb 11, 2022 16:34:36 GMT 1, Apologies if this is a silly question, but is there a market for leased/hired physical artworks?
I've tried looking online but couldn't find very much. That's possibly because it's a stupid idea or I have inadequate Google skills.
Many thanks.

Why? Because that wouldn't result in owning one.

For Sale: Damien Hirst - The Currency #8264 ‘Out of fear’, by Balboa on Feb 1, 2022 22:00:40 GMT 1, A nice ROI! You don't know what he paid for it. And he's made zero on it, whatever he paid. The seller did say "I am the original owner", so we all know what was paid. But you're right, zero ROI until it is actually sold.

A love letter to London in 2011 and Stik's Single Mum, by Balboa on Jan 23, 2022 10:04:54 GMT 1, This thread made me feel nostalgic about my old urban art pilgrimages to London. Earliest picture I found was this ‘photo opportunity’ I grabbed on the 4th June 2006. I spent ages that day following the line of white paint around to find the policeman at the end of it. Never did though.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Balboa on Jan 13, 2022 14:09:12 GMT 1, Duty is charged to import and VAT is charged to purchase. The rate of duty is variable and depends on the nature of the goods, the country of origin and the value. Well I have never been "charged to import" and I have ordered loads of stuff from abroad over the years. Perhaps I've just been lucky.
Or you’ve just ordered the right stuff of the right value and from the right countries. Remember, pre-Brexit duty wasn’t an issue from the EU.
I work in international logistics. I don’t know much, but I do know a thing or two about duty & tax.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Balboa on Jan 12, 2022 21:29:18 GMT 1, Really like the deck mcgill14 and great to see support for local emerging artists. I’ll definitely check out his Instagram page. Can I ask, did you also get a reasonably inflated customs charge via ParcelForce for your baby dino and, if so, are you going to aim to claim back? I had to pay one this morning for £62.51 and I think that it’s eligible for 5% rather than 20%. Hoping that the accompanying paperwork mentions that it’s an original hand made piece of art/sculpture. These handling and clearance fees are always quite annoying. I see they asked you for customs duty as well as import VAT. I've never seen this before. I've only ever been charged import VAT. I thought customs duty was only for things like cigarettes and alcohol.
